I cannot express enough how Monkey Sports went above and beyond in customer service. I live in Tucson, AZ, where we do not have a hockey store. While at a roller hockey tournament in Irvine, CA we visited the Monkey Sports - Irvine. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional. Sean and Tyler helped me order custom skates for my son who has very large Navicular bones. When the skates arrived in Irvine, Sean called to stone pick up. I mentioned we were going to Dallas the coming weekend. Sean shipped our skates to the Monkey Sports - Allen. Upon arriving in Dallas I called monkey sports - Allen and spoke with Miles. Miles said they had my skates. I stopped by the store, they mounted the roller chassis and heat molded them to my son's feet for a perfect fit. So for having items you need for hockey they have it all. They are the main warehouse so they have it all. That is the only reason they have one star. Paul, Foreman and Pete were the only team members actually working. The four to five others were huddled at the front gossiping like a bunch of hens. My husband and I were looking for various gear as we both play. He was trying on helmets and not once did any of these employees think it important to come ask if we needed any assistance. Which we did, but I just went ahead and looked at the website to see what was in stock. I then had had an item that I had placed on hold. The kid at the counter seemed like he was completely clueless and had no idea where to find my item. Had to get it ordered from the warehouse again. This place used to be so much better. It seems like the new staff is more interested in chatting with each other or sulking around the store with their hands in their pockets than to actually work. read more

The best thing about MonkeySports was, they could pull from the warehouse. That way you could always get what you wanted in one trip. I went this last weekend, and they no longer pull from the warehouse. They told me to order it online and have it shipped. We will now go to pure hockey because it's closer. Not worth the extra time if they don't pull from warehouse. The decision makers there did not think that one through.... I believe their website also says things are in stock. I wanted to compliment the company for helping me with my new skate purchase. My feet are hard to buy shoes for let alone ice skates. I purchased two pairs of skates before opting to buy a pair of True skates. Monkey sports did refund me the money I spent on the skates less the blades. I feel that was going far beyond the norm. On every receipt it states their return policy on skates. I still had to ask and they were willing. I've played a Hockey for over 30 years and wish I had a store like Monkey Sports a lot sooner. I had a package delivered to our address in Plano by UPS Ground. It was addressed to someone we do not know. So I checked around to see if anyone on this street had the same last name as that individual and no avail. I called this business in Allen and some young man suggested that I drop the package off there...which I was not kind responding to. He put on a manager who essentially suggested the same procedure. My son needed new skates urgently and had a game the same night. We were pressed for time and figured we would be late. Stopped by Hockey Monkey and couldn't be any more pleased. Evan was the employee that helped us out. He did a quick foot scan and recommended the skate and size that we needed based on the list of skates we told him we were interested in. Normally, my son has to try on 3 or 4 skates and it's a process, but Evan got it right on the very first attempt. The moment we walked in we were greeted and assisted. The customer service was exceptional; we were helped until we left, and the options available absolutely blew Hockey Giant out of the water. The building is enormous, and if you can think to ask, they can give an answer. If you do not see what you want, the 200,000 sq ft warehouse attached to the showroom will have it-- just ask! The place was extremely well organized and exceptionally well kept, however I am not sure as to how much of that is the "brand new" factor. The prices were extremely reasonable. If I could give these people zero stars I would. I will never spend another dime in this store. We outfitted my 6 year old son with lacrosse gear less than a year ago which he wore exactly 6 times. By the 6th use the new STX gloves we purchased were coming apart and wearing through the fingers, and I took them back to exchange them. The first employee said "we don't do that", and when I asked "you don't stand behind the products you sell?" he summoned Manager John. Manager John reiterated that he would not exchange the gloves, but offered a "discount" on another purchase. When I repeated "they were worn by a 6 year old 6 times", he said "well you wouldn't have had that problem had you purchased the $100 gloves." Their products! When I REPEATED "the products i purchased from YOUR STORE were worn by a 6 year old 6 times", with a condescending head tilt and eye roll he said "you want me to replace your used gloves with new ones." Not a question. Followed with "how do i know he only wore them 6 times?" Manager John called me, his customer, a liar to my face. To the boys working in the store - John is the polar opposite of what you should look to as a management mentor, and to Monkey Sports - the thousands of dollars I expect to spend on sports equipment over his lifetime will not be spent in your store. read more

You didn't only disappoint me, as a customer, by 13 boys were counting on your company. You let them down. You opened an incredible store in Allen, but you have now lost all credibility with your deceit. I had such mixed emotions. The store is amazing and Thomas was an awesome help and very knowledgeable. I was VERY disappointed in Dennis who apparently was a manger of some sort. He (instead of putting up a sign or talking to his employees before they started their shift) decided to be rude and tell Thomas he was offering us too much time in the cages to try 3 different bats rudely and with my husband and I standing right there. I felt blessed that Thomas spent the time with us he did because my VERY picky 14 year old did not like any of the bats. Whoever is Dennis' boss should give him some leadership lessons. Notice a cut on one the shoes i called the store explained the situation about the shoes, they said fine bring them in New Balance has a warranty. I just left the store, first time there. Drove from Rowlett to find a different baseball store in the area. Walked around for a hour in the store looking to see what they had . Not much of a selection in baseball. It appears it's more of a hockey store. Finally found something that I wanted a T-shirt that had a picture of Texas and the word Baseball Across it.... there were several of these shirts on the table in different sports that they advertise there. They were supposedly 50% off, got to the registered and it wrong up at full price I stated that they were on a table that showed 50% off. The other gentleman at the counter went over there to go look at it and they were not supposed to be on that table I paid full price for it. Not a good customer service experience when there are several items on a table and your a store that isn't always busy so things should not get misplace in wrong tables.
