Hands down the biggest and best sports/outdoor store I have ever been to. It has two stories, Ferris wheel and large fish tank inside the store. They have a restaurant and a service department that is astounding. Each section of their store has a theme and you can spend hours in this store trying to look at everything. Cool to just come here and look around. Came here to just check it out. The aquariums are at the entrance way, and there are tons of gimmicky things to just check out like the presidents on the second floor or all the taxidermy animals in the middle or on the walls. Most traditional stuff is here, like football, softball, soccer, as well as some of the more out there stuff like disc golf and lacrosse. No field hockey gear though. People are super helpful and want to help. Feel like if I had needed something, I would have been able to find it and have a lot of options and choices for it. At first I had given this place a one star review (for their outrageous pricing and lack of sales staff), but after going back I decided to give it two more stars. I went to buy new running shoes. The sales lady was very friendly and seemed to be knowledgeable. Unfortunately there was a serious lack of selections. This story reminds me of a Cabelas or a Bass Pro Shop. They have quite a wide range of outdoor gear which I'm sure you can find out through their main website. We did find after selection of hunting gear such as tactical knives very depending on your price range and what you are looking for. I think Scheels is a really fun place to visit. My husband was looking for a few things so we went on a Saturday. I really like that they have a kids area to climb so my kids can play while my husband gets what he needs. They even have a few seats for parents. My kids also like looking at the animals and fish. It is nice to have things for them to do while he looks around. read more

I like wandering around this store, I could probably spend hours here. It's not as much of a bargain as I thought it would be but the staff are friendly, there are lots of fun facts and things to do in the store and you can easily get lost for hours. Kind of meditative. Even if you're bored, check out Scheels! It's a great way to browse and look for stuff. They mostly have all the sport equipment/gear you need. This would be my go-to place for camping gear since it's so close to my house. Even the Scheels associates are awesome and they'll help you out for any gear need. This is a really nice store and its located in the shiny new Legends Development. Its got a bit of everything, really. Clothing and footwear--especially running gear are particular strengths. The downside is, that I found the prices on some stuff, notably the running shoes, to be a bit higher than elsewhere. Clothes weren't so bad. They also had a really nice selection of fishing gear and a humongous hunting section. What they do not have, however, is any real tennis section. A few tennis bags and rackets and that's about it. If you're looking for tennis gear (1) you shouldn't be buying in a department store unless you're a beginner anyway and (2) if you must shop department stores for that, go to Sport's Authority. But its a nice store and I like their clothes selection, especially the running and sports apparel. read more

You can get lost here for hours. And I hear most people do, the average customer stays for like 4 hours or something ridiculous? Seems like every staff member is knowledgeable about damn near every product and will make sure you are helped at all costs. They also match any price on any item you can find that might be lower. They have Big Buck Hunter on steroids, an incredibly realistic NASCAR race, a golf simulator, a ferris wheel, a deli......it just doesn't quit. In addition to my last review I wish to add that the staff are very attentive. This is the only place I can think of where an employee greets you as you come in and we are not talking about someone standing at the door as a greeter - that feels fake - this is employees who have other duties who also are greeting you. We were here labor day wknd. I'm dg'n place! It's like a HUGE SPORTS AUTHORITY + BIG 5 + whatever cool sports store out there. They have a ginormous selection of gears for everything! Snowboarding, swimming, biking, hiking, yoga, hunting, whatever....you name it and they'll have it! This place is huge! It can fit a ferris wheel inside the middle of their store. Pretty neat. They also have a lil' cafe inside that sells sandwiches, chocolates and a few other snacks. read more

This place is a sportsman's dream. I walked in there and the first thing I noticed was the massive fish tank. The next thing I noticed was the ferris wheel. Yes. A full sized ferris wheel right in the middle of the darn store. How cool is that right? After some brief marveling, it was time to go shopping. They carry what most sports store carry and after about 40 minutes, I reached the fish tank again and thought..."this place isn't that big afterall." Then I noticed that it was a different tank and that I was only half way through the downstairs. There's an upstairs as well. Scheel's truly makes the Sparks Marina/Outlet Mall. There is so much there, great staff, excellent customer service, and they actually can handle large crowds of people. THe store is just epic! Everything you can think of. THe prices are comparable, even some are better then even Amazon. THe store is huge, but the layout is very thought through and makes for easy navigation. They also have tons of games and things for children who get antsy shopping. OVerall, it's a great experience, and the coffee/diner area is good too! read more

This place is HUGE. They have a plethora of outdoor gear, if you can't find it here they will probably or it for you! Whenever I ask for help, whoever it is they are kind and eager to help. They also have stuff to eat downstairs. Not a bad place to find sports gear or just waste an hour or two just wondering here. Took my boys to Sheels for the experience and we were not disappointed! The Ferris wheel was amazing and the store equally as stunning! We spent hours inside! A crazy amount of departments and the restaurant topped it off! All our sandwiches and wraps and soft serves and sundaes were enough to bring us back for more!! Huge sporting good store with higher end equipment. Very large selection of guns and very knowledgeable staff highly recommend compared to most other gun shops in Reno. Very competitive with pricing and also do price matching. read more

I am from California just visiting today to get some warm winter gear and was greeted by the nicest young lady named Chelsea working in clothing. She took me all around the store showing me different options to keep me warm since I had no idea what I needed. I was so impressed with how kind and helpful she was. I have been in retail for 10+ years and it takes a lot to make me feel special. Our first visit to Scheels last year was excellent. On that visit we found the staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful. We were in awe of this place. We wished that my granddaughter was with us so she could take it all in. We visited Scheels again this week. We specifically went in to look at Optics for two rifles and some various accessories. As we approached the very small optics display, we were approached by an employee. He offered assistance. We told him that we were looking for a specific style of scope for a specific $1,600 rifle. We also told him that the distances were going to be 25-600 yards. He reached into the case and handed me a $90 red dot scope. I really had to bite my tongue. The mount for any scope for this rifle was going to be in the $150 to $250 price range. This was a 4 MOA red dot. At even 400 yards, the dot would totally obstruct the view of the target. When I commented on this, he then stated that YES, the optic would be perfect for the application! This employee might know other aspects of firearms but he is clueless when it comes to optics. He needs to be trained. We were very disappointed in the variety of optics. Some smaller stores have a wider variety. We did enjoy looking at several rifles. During this time, the employee who helped us on our first visit found us. He was much more knowledgeable about optics. Unfortunately, they just didn't have the variety of scopes to help us make a purchase decision. Our first visit was a 5/5 experience. This second visit was a 2/5 experience. We will visit again on our next visit to Reno. read more

I spent most of my summer last year searching for nursing shoes to wear with my uniform for the nursing program I was accepted to. After reading many reviews online for different shoe brands I decided to buy Dansko clogs. The only problem? Finding the right size for these shoes can be a bit of a challenge and nearly all the reviews I read online suggested trying the shoes on in person to find the correct size. I visited The Walking Company at Meadowwood Mall but the customer service was bad and the staff did not help me try on different shoe sizes. A friend of mine suggested Scheels. I was pleasantly surprised to see the broad selection of professional shoes. The staff was also amazing. A young gal (unfortunately I cannot remember her name) working at the shoe department helped me so much. After finding the shoes I wanted she searched for my shoe size in the back and even brought me different sizes so I could compare the fit. We ended up ordering my size since they were out of stock at the store. She walked me through the entire ordering process. My shoes arrived to the store in less than a week and to make things better they were also on sale! The staff at the pickup counter was super friendly and helpful. I am so glad I found Scheels and my nursing shoes! I will definitely return here in the future when I need to buy a new pair. read more

Very friendly staff especially Joe (who lived in Wahiawa) in the knife dept and the credit card girl. This is a two level sporting goods store so big they put a Ferris wheel in the middle of the complex. Impressive were the two double-arched aquariums at each entrance, one salt water and the other fresh water. You literally walk under and through these aquariums. Their current promotion is sign up for a Scheels credit card and get $15 credit on your first purchase, a free baseball cap (many choices, from bright orange hunting caps to very pink ones) or a Scheels T-shirt, and a free ticket to their 7 minute NASCAR simulator ride or virtual golf game(?). (So realistic, I flipped my car twice and came out heart racing and sweating.) And you'll receive a $15 credit when you use your Scheels' credit card to make your first purchase outside of Scheels. read more

This place is amazing. We stopped in with only an hour before they closed! Can I just say.. Customer Service is awesome. This evening I had probably 4-5 associates just ask me as I moved around if I was finding everything I needed or just to say hi. What I can say about that - if I was looking for something I had multiple opportunities to get the service. Now the store, even if your not looking to buy, like us.. It's worth a stop and stroll, 1st the statues outdoors, to see the fish as you enter the arch or upstairs to the animals! Wow! I didn't make it to the upper level but my husband did. I was to busy falling for the clearance racks. The products they have everything here, I really mean everything except groceries...so much to see - we decided we will return tomorrow for another stroll, and my husband hates to shop.
