5 Stars because this sports store is "As Good As it Gets!" I'm going on a trip to Costa Rica and this place had everything I needed. Each department had a helpful salesperson, and I enjoyed walking around looking at all the different departments. There's a huge Ferris wheel inside the store, a float plane hanging from the ceiling and a place to play skeet ball, a shooting gallery and even a café. You can literally spend the day in this store and have a blast while you pick up your sporting goods. I especially enjoy the cleanliness of this giant store. Everything sparkles, the shelves are neat and easy to access, and the salespeople are always friendly (not pushy). read more

Excellent service!! Charles in the archery department is very knowledgeable and happy to help answer any product questions you may have. He listened to what I was wanting in a new bow and with in two minutes was able to match me up with the right product. The remainder of his time spent with me was answering my questions and helping me get a feel for the item. Two big thumbs WAY up. Throw in their amazing lure and rod selection and I'm in hog heaven. I definitely recommend going here. It's an outdoor shopper's paradise. Better than Bass Pro Shops. They have an awesome fresh water and saltwater aquarium to greet you on each entrance. There's a Ferris wheel, kids' bowling and various photo ops. The place is huge and great selections. Prices may be slightly higher but they do have certain items on sale which are good bargains. Service may be spotty. You'd have to find or flag someone to help you. Take the entire family and you can easily spend hours here. A great place to shop. read more

Scheels customer service department was great and extremely easy to work with. I had received a Nixon watch for my birthday months back and the pin broke. It was clearly a manufacturing defect. I was prepared to send it to Nixon to have it repaired. And who even know how long of a process that was going to be. Before sending the watch back to Nixon I decided to call Scheels to see if they would be able to do anything to help me out. The Scheels Associates in the Customer Service Department told me to just come on down and they were willing to see what they could do to resolve the issue with my watch. When I arrived at the store the girls told me to go see if the same watch was still available. Unfortunately, the watch was not in the display. I went back and one of the manager looked up those inventory and found they had one in the back. The manager brought up the new and similar watch and said we will go ahead and just do an exchange. WOW! IMHO...That rarely happens with large department stores. 5 Stars! read more

Great selection of anything and everything outdoors! Spent some time in the firearms section and numerous employees acknowledged me and asked if I needed assistance. There was a good selection of ammo (could have used more options for .40cal) - ended up leaving with a few boxes. Also got a good deal on some basic binoculars! The prices are reasonable and even cheaper than online in some cases. I'll take Scheels over Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops any day! read more

We came in on our way out of town for the first time. What can we say. If you want a true sporting goods store stop here. Do not expect to find your item on sale. They have top of the line inventory on what you will need for that specific trip outdoors. They also have a cafe and home goods to decorate your home with home made wood carvings to wood art and animal frame art. It was a great shopping experience. We walked all around and did not find any race or NASCAR fan gear and that was our only bummer. Well worth the trip to stop in otherwise. Got a few shirts for the men in my life and in the military! I came in to get my new bow set up on a Saturday. Connor, the bow tech, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Me and a friend are trying to get into bow hunting and Connor walked me through everything I would need to get my bow up to par. He then set my bow up for me and sighted me in, even giving me a few pointers on my form. Connor did a great job. Add to the fact that every time I come in, the employees go out of their way to help and their selection is top notch, you really can't find a better sporting goods shop. My first visit to Scheels with my family started off well, a very grandiose store with everything under the sun, awesome fish tanks, and a freakin ferris wheel?! Crazy! So the first thing we did is buy tickets to ride the wheel, only a buck! The elderly gentleman attending the wheel was very cheerful and nice. Suddenly, after strapping my brother and his girlfriend in, a large chunk of metal literally broke off of the ferris wheel above and nailed the old gent in the temple, a foot or so away from my brother! His head immediately started gushing blood, and we called for help frantically. The minimal help that arrived was not so helpful, standing around on walkie talkies as the poor old guy wipes his own blood off the floor. My wife tried to tell them that he needs to sit down, as head injuries should be treated seriously, but they paid no attention to us and slowly walked off with the wounded employee. Another employee told us we were okay to ride it still, and we all murmered a resounding NO! We stood there shocked! We did get refunds for our tickets, but not a word about the incident. No reports filed, witness accounts, nothing! Seemed like a lack of organization there...If that had hit one of us, or broken when we were on the thing, there would have been a major lawsuit!! Would have been a 5 star review, as the store is awesome, but subtracting 3 big stars for the huge safety and staff issues. read more

Whatever sports you are into, you are bound to find what you need at Scheels... Located in the Legends outlet mall just past the casinos in Reno, this place felt like a toy store for all ages. I was in awe when I walked into Scheels, and saw the saltwater aquarium entryway which led to their indoor ferris wheel... This place was HUGE! I checked out the second floor which concentrated on hunting (guns, archery), fishing, ATV's, swords, knives, camping, hiking, even grilling.. They even had a shooting gallery and a Nascar racing simulator. The center of the second floor had a huge mountain that displayed tons of taxidermy, and educational video displays for each of the animals on display. First floor seemed to concentrate on fitness, bicycling, golf, tennis, and too much to mention. Prices seemed comparable to most of the other large sporting goods stores, but you can't beat the selection here. read more

Beautiful store with a huge selection of anything you could possibly need for being active. Unfortunately, my shopping experience was less than pleasant. I don't know if it's because I am Mexican or because I was wearing a large down parka (it was below freezing outside) that I threw into a shopping cart and put my small dog on top of it so I wouldn't have to wear it or carry it around. I was incessantly followed by sales associates everywhere I went. I kept hearing their earpieces go off and then I'd get obviously followed. Trying something on by a mirror, someone literally came and watched me. My boyfriend who is also Mexican went upstairs looking for work boots and he got the same exact treatment. I was so disgusted with being targeted as a shoplifter that I decided not to buy anything for myself there. My boyfriend however, spent over $300 despite being treated like a shoplifter. I am incredibly disappointed with the way I was treated that despite loving the store, I will NEVER return and will warn anyone with brown or black skin that they may be treated like a shoplifter. read more

First off, I'll say that since they have opened, I have spent several thousand dollars here. But after an experience I had the other day with customer service, I don't think I will ever spend another dime here. I purchased a pair of sunglasses. Oakleys, worth about $150 with tax. They fit great in the store, but after about 6 hours of extended use, they started to really reveal their true character. I wore them two days before giving up on them. I went back in after work one day and tried to return them. A girl with talon-like acrylic nails took the glasses from me for inspection. She said that they cannot be returned due to scratches. I looked, and confirmed that there were indeed scratches(albeit nearing microscopic proportions). Whether they were there prior to her handling, I know not. She then called over the customer service mgmt rep, a male this time, to also inspect them. His body language was hostile, and his tone of voice dismissive. 'Well yeah, the funny thing is you can't return shades after you've ruined them". I find it grossly unprofessional when managers attempt to resolve social situations by using intimidation(regardless if it's with customer or an employee). I remained polite with him, but did not acquiesce to his heavy-handed attempt to disregard my issue. After a few minutes of carrying on, he changed his tone and moved back behind the counter. "Well man, if they could be fixed, I'd go back there and do it myself". He suggested taking the plastic-framed glasses to an optician for heat-assisted frame adjustment. I thanked him for his helpful insight and left. So I went home, did some research, and decided to ever-so-carefully polish the frames out with a little bit of polishing compound, fixing the so-called 'ruined' eyewear over the course of about 15 minutes. I went back to Scheels, this time on a non-work day, wearing a nice button down shirt. I received a much more cordial welcome at the customer service kiosk. Imagine that. The shades were returned to the store, my cash was returned to me, and I left in a slightly better mood. I will heed his suggestion to go to an optician for assistance with adjustment. Except the pair I buy to be adjusted will be from a decent retailer that doesn't put pompous goons in charge of customer relations. read more

I went here Tuesday evening before Christmas, arrived at around 9:55pm, figuring they were be open late with holiday hours. I was looking for some Sorel boots for a present. (I've had a pair for 20 years that still work great, and wanted to find something similar.) I finally found the women's shoe area, and although I heard something over the store's speakers, I wasn't paying attention (turns out it was an announcement to let shoppers know that the store was closing). As I started scanning the shelves, an employee approached me and let me know the store was closing (10pm), but asked if there was something in particular I was looking for. When I told him Sorel boots, he immediately showed me a section for them. He apologized that the selection was severely diminished because there had been a run on snow boots due to all of the snow we received in Reno in December; but asked me anyway if there was some specific type I was looking for. After I described the kind I had, he knew a model name for what I was looking for, but also let me know they didn't have any. I have the impression he would've looked further, for whether they were something I could order through their store, but I told him I was going to try somewhere else. He and every other employee I came across in my few minutes after closing time, were pleasant, even cheerful. Having worked in retail long ago, I can remember myself (and other employees) wishing at closing time that customers would just go away so we could go home. I didn't get that feeling at all on this evening. read more

I've never seen anything like this place. Biggest sporting goods store in the western hemisphere? Probably! You can actually go there and ride a ferris wheel in doors. Replica mannequins of famous former Presidents are up on the second floor, and they have recordings playing of some of their more famous speeches. Huge selection, great prices, stuff for the whole family, kinda like a Walmart almost for sporting goods. I'd say Scheels has put Sparks on the map. The fish tank you walk under when entering the store is pretty unreal as well. Super friendly staff helped me find exactly what I was looking for. When the rest of the "Legonds" stores are completed around this place it will truly be THE shopping destination in the Reno/Tahoe area. read more

WOW!!! We don't have stores this large in Cali. It's HUGE!!! And with a Ferris wheel inside, NASCAR virtual games, aquarium and other fun stuff. Talking about one stop shopping. massive as this place spills americana all over the place. had been to a scheels in iowa and as a 1st timer here was gawking from the sporty statutes outside to the operating ferris wheel inside while admiring the full on aquarium that i almost forgot about the batting gloves i originally came for. wanted to ride the ferris wheel but didn't want to spoil a father/daughter moment as they had it to themselves helpful and friendly employees even informed me it was north americas largest sporting goods store two bowling lanes up top to go w/driving range simulators, batting cage, any kind of sporting/outdoor equipment you could think of and a firearms selection that would make die hards john mccain proud the disc golf display by innovo is the best ive seen. they even have a steamer to break in gloves (too cool) free if you purchase a mizuno which they had an awesome selection btw and $10 i believe for rawlings/wilson/other not many deals as retail talks here but was nice to browse and may return if i'm able to sock away some funds for new irons, glove, discs, ball cap, merrell shoes, licorice and a gatorade read more

During the COVID pandemic I had the opportunity to spend a few months at my parents house in Montana. In Billings I have three grandparents in retirement homes, but was unable to see them because of restrictions keeping the most vulnerable in our community safe. I came back for Christmas and went to Scheels to get some ski socks, I left ashamed by the ignorance of my home state. Inside were dozens of customers without masks. Scheels, you are the problem. You have a right to not serve those who refuse to wear masks, but instead you have created a daily super-spreader event within your store. I do not know how many more opportunities I will have to see my grandparents and you are part of the ignorance in this community that will keep me from my loved ones this holiday season. And I also still don't have ski socks. Please instead shop our local base camp or the new, mask mandating, REI across the street. read more

We have always loved coming to Scheels for the large selection of .... well you name it and you will see it there. With the lock downs and social climate we haven't been in for almost two years and it was awesome. First off they have SO MUCH of everything in stock. They say it comes and goes but all I have been seeing in most places is many empty shelves. Not at Scheels! So next is the amazing staff. EVERYONE and I do mean everyone greats you with a sincere "welcome to Scheels and can I help you find something". Again WOW, employees that actually seem happy to be working. For me the other most important thing I saw was this company has not become just another WOKE company bending to some pretty crazy social pushes. Scheels still proudly displays and supports our Military, Police and Fire. You can find things that have been pulled from shelves in other cities because of a perceived image it portrays. An awesome store I wish I had hours to waste in but during my only visit I only had enough time to buy by my 4 box limit of ammo! Thank you Scheels for having .40 ammo in stock. The guy who helped me was quick, knowledgable, and very helpful. The only suggestion I could make was to open more checkstands during busy hours but even in line I could just stand there and keep my attention filled with all the visuals. Humoungous store...mind blowing in fact. A gun nut's paradise also, lots of hand guns, shot guns, anything to prepare you for the upcoming zombie invasion. Also lots of outerwear for hunting, camping, climbing everest...the fishing department is insane, although we didn't venture that way I could just tell by the thousands of poles. great customer service, so much selections grate space and stock. I enjoyed the moving statues which gave a little history lesson and audio speeches. The customer service was surprisingly great, i realized that they were commission based, but it really didn't matter they knew their product and seemed genuinely nice. I definitely enjoyed the experience, there were lots of great prices and sales and soooo many weapons and man toys that i could have stayed there for hours more. I will surely come back when i am in this area, sux that it's so far. I don't typically go for stores that taxidermy animals, but this place is pretty cool. Tons of variety and decent prices. Huge section for rifles/guns, fishing, and camping. Not as redneck as the other place and there are lots of families who bring their kids to hang out. read more
