Fun driving range with easy pull up parking adjacent. Rent a club (I believe 3 cost about $15 and pay for the bucket of balls (3 or so options for sizes.) We got the bucket of 100 balls which ends up being the best deal. Pick a bay and go have some fun trying to land in a barrel or hole on one of the handful of islands. There always seems to be music playing and there are a few benches to sit on and low walls you could use as well if taking turns hitting. First come first serve in terms of picking a spot to tee off from.

Wowie!! Fun! Beautiful. Challenging. *plop* First time at a driving range. Good mix of novice and professionals. Maybe more on the novice side! That was the more fun, exuberant crowd. They have bottled/can drinks. Beer, too. Parking right there, enter the RV parking area and hang right by the water. CC accepted.

I was hesitant to try this, but it was very fun. Even felt like I used up some energy. Whether it was laughing, the ooing or awing and the sheer power to hit multiple balls, it was an exuberant time. They serve beer here, too. Lots of parking. Helpful staff for this newbie.

Updated review, 3 years later. No longer can I recommend this driving range wholeheartedly. The driving range was previously owned privately by Aqua Golf, which leased the facility. Since August 2018, GSR owns and manages the driving range. They raised the prices for both locals and for tourists, and now it costs $14 rather than $8 for a big bucket of balls. GSR has not made any improvements to the turf mats, which are now looking extra rough. I get it, Reno locals can't expect businesses to keep prices as low as they were during the economic recession. But come on, if we're going to be charged 75% more, please enhance the driving range experience! Another reason why I might be over this driving range is that the parking lot on this side of GSR has become smaller with their pool renovation, which means it is more difficult for golfers to find a parking space. The vehicles now seem even closer to the driving range. My husband and I went on a windy evening, and the wind kept setting off someone's car alarm. A car alarm is an awful background noise against which to hit golf balls! Nevertheless, there is nothing like hitting into a lake. The view is very much worth the occasional visit. Arriving 30 minutes before sunset can be magical.

I love coming to the aqua range, it's very fun for me and my S/O... but last experience was less than adequate. The safe area to walk needs improvement and it would be nice for people not to smoke on the green as there are plenty of children and non smokers around and the least they can do is be courteous. The safe area behind the red line is limited and not as safe at night when people are actively drinking/smoking various things. The family next to us was taking up the area and not really paying attention to anyone around them and as I was trying to walk by, the kid on the green swung back so hard and hit my hand. I understand I should have been more alert, but there were some outside factors as to why I wasn't as much. Anyway, not one member of the party (child included) cared to apologize to me for what happened (I was trying to hold back tears from the pain) and the mom began to insult us by calling us ugly and gloat about some random "competition" like their better than everyone else at the sport. When I threw the ugly comment back at her, her 12yo daughter had to block her from fighting us, which is embarrassing. We alerted the staff and he knew exactly who we were talking about but the group left shortly after us to avoid getting caught. And in the parking lot she continued to yell and look stupid in front of her family and children, who tbh looked very embarrassed by her. This is my hand 2 days later (and worse), I've tried everything to get my rings free and now I fear having to get my expensive rings cut off because a family was negligent to leave space for anyone to walk by, let alone apologize or correct the problem. We are all here to have fun and shouldn't have to be bullied by other belligerent people. PLEASE make this area more "family friendly" and safe for everyone. Im lucky it was just my hand, wouldn't be too funny if someones head got smashed into. :/

We've been to the driving range a lot in the past few years but when covid hit we went here for my youngest birthday and then again on a hot summer day. His birthday trip ruled. The man working was ultra friendly and wanted to just let the boys have fun. These are baseball players so golf was a new challenge. It was fun watching them struggle at first to find their swing. Toward the end one of them pulled a baseball bat put of their pants (yes I'm aware of how that sounds) end they took turns throwing a golf ball up and hitting it. The guy working was cracking up at them and encouraging them. We had dinner delivered to the range by Grubhub, sat outside and ate, sang happy birthday with candles and all, it was fantastic. Fast forward to last week when we visiting the range after a day at the pool. Upon arriving and trying to pay the older gentleman working was kind of cranky. He was inside the AC building with the doors still locked leaving us in the heat, so we were taken aback by his mood right away. He kept telling me to read the sign for questions, so I did. He asked how many clubs I wanted. My choice on the sign was 1, 3, or 5. I had two kids so I went with 3 clubs. The guy working got frustrated and asked why I didn't want two. I told him the sign didn't have an option for 2 and he had told me I had to choose what was on the sign. He sighed and wrote me up for 2. He then handed me two slips of paper for my codes to get the balls. He was very stern on the rules. Go to the machine, push in ONLY the code on the paper. Do not push any other buttons at all. When it asks what size bucket don't push anything just wait. If it asks anything else just wait. I go over and my code starts with a 9. The screen asks bucket size and has the options from 1-3. I look at him and he says "what did I tell you, only put in your code." So I push the 9, look at my paper for the next number and the entire screen fills with black lines. I'm perplexed. I wait. Nothing. I try to type in the whole code, nothing. At this point the man working is arguing with new customers, and I'm still waiting. I finally politely interrupt and tell him the screen is just black lines. When I tell you this man SIGHED slammed outside, literally SNATCHED the papers out of my hand and says "I'll do it." Hoooo boy was I a little peeved. It's never great to grab stuff out of a customer hand. He goes to the machine. Pushes in my code. Black screen. Pushes more. Still black. Looks at me and says "what did you do?" Essssscuse me sir!! He gets more upset grabs two buckets goes in back and fills them up. Slams back in to help the other guys and fills their bucket by hand. Much later the old man comes up to me and says "you were right it wasn't your fault, the other guy who works showed up and said it's been doing this all week." I told him I knew it wasn't my fault. He said "okay I just wanted to come over and tell you that you didn't break it." I knew that. He did NOT say sorry for the attitude or snatching papers from my hand. The boys had a great time golfing but it started to heat up so at the end they were swinging balls pretty fast and goofing around. The began tossing the ball up, and when it came close to the turf they would swing. Suddenly the old man came over and told them to knock it off, they could hurt someone, points to the only other people near them two stations away and tells them the ball could hit them. Then he told them it could break the club and I would be liable. This was confusing as they were using the same swing and power they would if they hit it off the tee. He is mainly yelling at my sons friend, I'm sitting behind them laughing honestly because I can't believe these knuckleheads managed to get in trouble. The old man leaves and my son is cracking up because his friend got talked to. They both finished their balls and wanted to to. While both trips were fun, I think it was hard to go from having an employee watch a bunch of young kids having a good time in the midst of covid and letting them screw around with their bat, or toss the balls up to hit them, to the other employee who was mad at everything. If anything I would have expected them to get mad about the baseball bat. But tossing the ball up and hitting it with a normal swing as it comes down, didn't seem like a reason to chastise two kids on a lazy week day with no other customers really near them. I think it kind of killed the fun after that because they felt like they would get in trouble if they did anything but a standard swing. I was still frustrated with the employees attitude & didn't even want to go get my ID and return the clubs. I did, the guy was still cranky, and we left. I think before we return we would check to see who is working. Overall the range is great because it's outside, and a lot of fun, but this is an example of how employees really matter because two suddenly employees really gave us two different experiences.

Fun to hit the balls to water
    Michael W.

This driving is pretty fun with you can non-stop hitting the balls to the water. I have never found out how they get the balls back. But I think they might have something in the water, like a net to catch the ball and bring it back! The customers purchase the balls by the vending machine and start to have fun. The customer service there is for bills change only. Parking is easy. The parking lots just behind the driving range. It is very close to the driving range and safe.

Good as far as driving ranges go. Hitting balls into water makes you wonder how they get the balls out. 3 bucks per club rental plus 18 bucks per 100 balls is not outrageous. Good luckt hitting the floating targets. Music playing and fun to be had here.

What better way to practice your golf swinggggg then at Sierra Bay Aqua Golf. This is a whole level of FUN compared to going out to the typical driving range and perfecting your aim. You can have cool tunes playing while you just aim for the vast nothingness of water with an AWESOME backdrop of Mt. Rose to watch your golf balls disappear and then bob back up. Yep, those golf balls are purposely made to float and that's what you're seeing glistening on top of the water - Pretty Cool! You can also aim for one of the several islands while trying for the prizes that are labeled on each of them - like Pepsi or Johnny Rockets, and sometimes a trip to somewhere cool! If you've never played, forgot how or don't have your own clubs, not to worry Sierra Bay rents them - just remember you break it, you buy it. We've seen some teens get pretty squirrly and parents were then purchasing broken Drivers - tsk tsk. Buckets according to their website currently cost - http://sierrabaygolf.weebly.com/rates.html Grand Bucket $18; Sierra Bucket $12; Resort Bucket $8 I agree with other reviewers parking can be tricky on weekends or if there's an event going on at GSR plus if it's busy be patient seems a slot/pad opens up fairly quickly. Sometimes SOME of the teens can be a bit rambunctious but most are there to enjoy Sierra Bay like we are and we found that there is plenty of room for everyone - we've met more young guys & gals that we've truly enjoyed the evening with than the later. Either way coming out with a group of friends, date night, with family or while staying at GSR or nearby, why not come over and whack a few golf balls off into Sierra Bay it's GREAT fun! P.S. You're allowed to BYOB or non-alcoholic of course too - the first can make for some interesting aim ability LOL. Enjoy the views, listen to some music, have great FUN, laugh a little and who knows maybe win a trip somewhere. Happy Yelping Everyone!

IMPRESSION: How cool is it to have a golf driving range where it's okay to hit your ball into the water! There are floating islands so you have target practice. Even an island with a barrel with the goal of hitting your ball into the barrel. Last time we came they were doing a giveaway if you got the ball into the barrel, but this visit I didn't see a sign advertising that. Maybe someone won it so they took it down haha. DETAILS: Machine spits out balls into a bucket. Lots of green turf stations with stands to hold up your golf clubs, and a space to place your balls so you can easily move the ball into the spot. Plenty of lighting to see where you're hitting the ball. Music is playing. Seems like a hot spot for teens since we were here on a Friday night. It was cold and windy to me, but yet there were people there in shorts and T-shirts. Maybe because I'm from California, I just can't hang with "cold" weather. Seats behind the hitting area so groups can hang out too. Lots of outside parking even though a lot of spaces were taken I'm sure from people going to the Grand Sierra resort and casino. Further down are mobile trailer homes with a dog grass area with poop bag and trash stations, which was nice since I had my dog with me. OVERALL: I really liked this place. What a neat idea and nicely executed setup. I'm no golf pro, there were a good amount of people each time I came here so even when my ball hardly went anywhere or went amazingly crooked, people didn't seem to care or notice since they were focused on their own ball. They're open late too so it's a great alternative instead of going to the casino or a great add on activity in addition to going to the casino. I could see this being great for groups or a great date night or date day activity.

Tomorrow, July 31, 2018 is the last day for this awesome place! I'm not sure if the casino will take it over, but we made sure to spend today enjoying it before it's potentially gone for good! The prices are reasonable and it must be good because it's been here for 30 years! There used to be crazy prizes if you got a hole in one. Obviously there aren't now. But, there is something so satisfying about smacking some golf balls as hard as you can into a pond. The equipment has seen better days, but they still get the job done! It's a neat spot and I really hope the casino will keep it around!

Our courses up here are closed for winter and we make several golf road-trips to the Reno/Carson area during the winter to play golf. Four of us were looking forward to playing at Wolf Run. I had to PRE PAY to book the tee time, which I was not pleased about doing, but I know this is common from golf courses "managed" by groups like Duncan Golf. An hour before we were to leave on our road-trip, one of our guys texted and said he was very ill and wasn't going to make the trip. No problem I thought. I'm sure Wolf Run AKA Duncan Golf would be able to issue a refund, a voucher for a future round or something so I would not be out $65. We arrived and the golf shop employee greeted us. After giving him our tee time info, I stated that one of our guys was sick and couldn't make it. He didn't even look at me and stated flatly "It's prepaid." I asked if there was a way to receive a refund. The golf shop robot repeated "It's prepaid." He moved around the counter and was looking out the window to grab our cart numbers when my buddy in the shop with me said, "There's nothing you can do?" Shockingly (not) we received "It's prepaid" again. We went out and had a great round on a gorgeous day. Unfortunately, the cloud of stink from Duncan Golf and the golf shop robot remained beyond our round. Thank you for nothing Duncan Golf. You kept my $65 for no product/service provided. It gets worse. Can it?! Yup. . …read more UPDATE: I Tried to Let This Go. They Didn't. After my original review about being sold a "custom" set that turned out to be badly fitted with mismatched shafts, I honestly planned to move on--especially if the shop would just pick up the phone and try to make it right. I called. More than once. No call back. No email. Nothing. If they had contacted me, I would have gladly updated--or even removed--my original review and said they stood behind their work. Instead, here we are, and things got worse. When I went to sell the clubs, the buyer pointed out: Two 50° wedges in the set (one graphite shaft, one steel). Why? What I thought was a 45° wedge is the exact same loft as my pitching wedge. So yes--I was sold two pitching wedges as well. Add that to the already mismatched shafts and bad fitting, and this "custom set" is a mess. And still: no response from the shop after multiple attempts to reach them. --- Lessons? Also a bust. I sent my wife here for an 8-week lesson package. When we finally played together, I immediately noticed her grip was way off. I asked her about it--she said, "We never talked about grip. He just kept telling me to swing." Grip is Golf 101. After eight weeks? Come on. When we addressed it in person, the instructor finally said, "Let's take a look at your grip," like it was new information. My wife also told me he was flirtatious, pushy, and that on more than one session he smelled like liquor. She was uncomfortable. We stopped going. --- Bottom line: I gave them a chance. They didn't take it. This follow-up exists because they never tried to fix the problem. Between the botched club build, zero follow-through, and questionable instruction, I can't recommend this place for fittings or lessons. Buyer beware.
