Carts that they won't let people use.
    Austin L.

I grew up learning to play here. Thousands of good memories. But the management is all power tripping weirdos who always make me walk the course when they have tons of carts just sitting around. This isn't a private course. Or a nice course for that matter. It's a public course that is completely run down. They have a good old boy system where some people can take carts and drive into the course with their trucks and it's all good. I believe all of this goes against the contracts they signed and I will be calling and emailing city commissioners. Let people pay for carts when you have them, it's not that hard

The Shoe is a Reno classic. Locals tell stories of playing this course as a kid with grandad. Municipal courses are decreasing in numbers as people turn away from golf in favor of modern societies fast-paced lifestyle. Valuable land in the heart of the city acts as game preserve and public park for you, your family, and your friends to swing the sticks at a reasonable price. Of course they offer memberships and leagues. On Monday and Tuesday nights in the summer they offer fun 9-hole best ball tournaments with prizes and drawings. And they serve alcohol and food in the snack bar. The course has got some character, even for a primarily links style course. It will challenge you despite having some wide open fairways and limited bunkers. You will enjoy your day. But watch out for the long par 4 12th and the long par 3 16th! And get ready for a host of small and fast greens throughout the course to spice up the difficulty. #RenoLoveLetter

Washoe is a nice place to play for a fair price. Everything about this place shows its age. The bar is straight out of the 70's. The clients too. The Club House is no fancier. The restrooms may have not been cleaned since the 70's. (smell) Ok, so a golf course is about the grass, tees, fairways, greens... In that matter this place is just fine. Most of the course is kept well and is darn playable. I think the fairways look wider than they are. Look for specials on greens fees. Everything else is expensive compared to other standard public courses in the area. (driving range, bar, club house swag)

Fun, friendly and decent course. Staff and clubhouse are awesome. The timing of play is great and the grounds are pretty good. We love coming here to play a fun round of golf.

Went on Saturday around 2pm, no lines, no wait, was able to go straight to be range and practice my golfing skills. Was pleasantly surprised with the property, ample parking and how pretty it was! After couple of hours, we headed over to the restaurant area to grab a quick bite and some beer. Definitely recommend checking it out one of these weekends!

Cool little course. Just had time for 9. Pretty wide open. Greens in decent shape for as late as it is in the year.

$54/round for a mediocre muni course in April. No thank you. Used to be a good deal but that's a joke.

Ask the Community - Washoe Golf Course

    Is there a dress code?

We don’t have a strict dress code, but do require clothes to be worn at all times. We do allow jeans and t-shirts. We don’t require a collared shirt to play our course.

Our courses up here are closed for winter and we make several golf road-trips to the Reno/Carson area during the winter to play golf. Four of us were looking forward to playing at Wolf Run. I had to PRE PAY to book the tee time, which I was not pleased about doing, but I know this is common from golf courses "managed" by groups like Duncan Golf. An hour before we were to leave on our road-trip, one of our guys texted and said he was very ill and wasn't going to make the trip. No problem I thought. I'm sure Wolf Run AKA Duncan Golf would be able to issue a refund, a voucher for a future round or something so I would not be out $65. We arrived and the golf shop employee greeted us. After giving him our tee time info, I stated that one of our guys was sick and couldn't make it. He didn't even look at me and stated flatly "It's prepaid." I asked if there was a way to receive a refund. The golf shop robot repeated "It's prepaid." He moved around the counter and was looking out the window to grab our cart numbers when my buddy in the shop with me said, "There's nothing you can do?" Shockingly (not) we received "It's prepaid" again. We went out and had a great round on a gorgeous day. Unfortunately, the cloud of stink from Duncan Golf and the golf shop robot remained beyond our round. Thank you for nothing Duncan Golf. You kept my $65 for no product/service provided. No more trips to Wolf Run. I know you don't care, but maybe others who read this review might.

It gets worse. Can it?! Yup. . …read more UPDATE: I Tried to Let This Go. They Didn't. After my original review about being sold a "custom" set that turned out to be badly fitted with mismatched shafts, I honestly planned to move on--especially if the shop would just pick up the phone and try to make it right. I called. More than once. No call back. No email. Nothing. If they had contacted me, I would have gladly updated--or even removed--my original review and said they stood behind their work. Instead, here we are, and things got worse. When I went to sell the clubs, the buyer pointed out: Two 50° wedges in the set (one graphite shaft, one steel). Why? What I thought was a 45° wedge is the exact same loft as my pitching wedge. So yes--I was sold two pitching wedges as well. Add that to the already mismatched shafts and bad fitting, and this "custom set" is a mess. And still: no response from the shop after multiple attempts to reach them. --- Lessons? Also a bust. I sent my wife here for an 8-week lesson package. When we finally played together, I immediately noticed her grip was way off. I asked her about it--she said, "We never talked about grip. He just kept telling me to swing." Grip is Golf 101. After eight weeks? Come on. When we addressed it in person, the instructor finally said, "Let's take a look at your grip," like it was new information. My wife also told me he was flirtatious, pushy, and that on more than one session he smelled like liquor. She was uncomfortable. We stopped going. --- Bottom line: I gave them a chance. They didn't take it. This follow-up exists because they never tried to fix the problem. Between the botched club build, zero follow-through, and questionable instruction, I can't recommend this place for fittings or lessons. Buyer beware.
