This is not a review critical of the course. The course was beautiful and very playable. We drove 60+ miles to get to Wolf Run from Graeagle. Our courses up here are closed for winter and we make several golf road-trips to the Reno/Carson area during the winter to play golf. Four of us were looking forward to playing at Wolf Run. I had to PRE PAY to book the tee time, which I was not pleased about doing, but I know this is common from golf courses "managed" by groups like Duncan Golf. An hour before we were to leave on our road-trip, one of our guys texted and said he was very ill and wasn't going to make the trip. No problem I thought. I'm sure Wolf Run AKA Duncan Golf would be able to issue a refund, a voucher for a future round or something so I would not be out $65. We arrived and the golf shop employee greeted us. After giving him our tee time info, I stated that one of our guys was sick and couldn't make it. He didn't even look at me and stated flatly "It's prepaid." I asked if there was a way to receive a refund. The golf shop robot repeated "It's prepaid." He moved around the counter and was looking out the window to grab our cart numbers when my buddy in the shop with me said, "There's nothing you can do?" Shockingly (not) we received "It's prepaid" again. We went out and had a great round on a gorgeous day. Unfortunately, the cloud of stink from Duncan Golf and the golf shop robot remained beyond our round. Thank you for nothing Duncan Golf. You kept my $65 for no product/service provided. No more trips to Wolf Run. I know you don't care, but maybe others who read this review might. read more

Gorgeous Course, Great Starter -- But the Marshall? Not So Much. Wolf Run Golf Club in Reno is a beautiful track. The course is well-manicured, the layout is fun and challenging, and the scenery makes for a great day of golf. There were a few wet spots in some of the flat areas, but nothing unexpected -- and certainly nothing that took away from the round. The grounds crew is clearly doing great work. I also want to give a big shoutout to the starter at the first tee -- she was absolutely fantastic. Professional, courteous, and helpful. Despite the courses routine of overbooking and under delivering she was amazing. One of the women in our group was running late, and instead of holding up the tee sheet, the starter made the smart call to send us out as a threesome so we could keep things moving. That's the kind of common-sense approach and customer service that makes a difference. Eventually, the fourth player caught up -- and she, along with another woman we were paired with, were playing golf for one of the very first times. Everyone has a first day, right? And on the course, you can either embrace that, encourage them, and help them enjoy the game... or you can yell, belittle, and embarrass them -- like the marshal chose to do. Knowing we were paired with beginners, we made it a point to let two faster groups play through, even when I felt we probably didn't need to, but wanted to be absolutely courteous. Both groups later found us in the clubhouse and thanked us, saying we handled it perfectly and showed real class. That feedback mattered -- because clearly, no one from course management was interested in hearing it. Despite our efforts to maintain pace and be respectful, the marshal approached us mid-round -- loud, confrontational, and unwilling to listen. He began with telling us we were two holes behind. When we explained the situation -- two first-timers, 2 groups being waved through, and us helping them navigate the game -- his response was, "Doesn't matter. Have fun faster." That's not helpful. It's not professional. And it sure as hell isn't how you grow the game. We were never behind pace except for a brief moment when we stopped the cart girl for drinks and a group caught up -- and we immediately let them play through. We're open to suggestions if we truly did something wrong, but from where we stood, we played responsibly, kept the game moving, and respected those around us. The marshal's behavior was unnecessary and completely out of line. It seems that many of the poor reviews for this course have a common thread: overbooking and aggressive marshals. That was our experience too -- and that's a shame, because Wolf Run has all the ingredients to be a truly top-tier experience. If the staff showed the same professionalism and good judgment as the starter, this review would be five stars without hesitation. But until the culture among marshals shifts from confrontational to constructive, those extra stars stay in the bag. read more

Not a welcoming atmosphere, at all. Terrible customer service. Ran by teens during later hours, one of them kept an eye on *certain* people more than others and then laughed when a buddy of his drove a golf course so fast that it tipped and fell. Highly unprofessional, go elsewhere. read more

I saw a few reviews complaining about pace of play. I can understand that is frustrating. I played on a Saturday and completed a round of 18 in 4.5 hours. The group in front of us was regularly hitting extra balls but honestly, 4.5 hours isn't that bad for a weekend. Now the good. The course is in great shape. The greens and tee boxes are well maintained. A few of the fairways had some repair strips but the course was really green. The beverage cart made its way around the course frequently. The staff in the pro shop and grill were really pleasant and helpful. I had a great time and will play here again. read more

The clubhouse put us in a fivesome and we were on the course over 5 hours. Then their marshall had the gall to ask us to speed things up, even though we had no where to go because of the slow group ahead. Played golf maybe 1000 times and have never had a clubhouse make us play with 5. Unacceptable. Won't be back. Too many other options to deal with that nonsense and waste of time. read more

I love this local Duncan Course. The staff are kind. The course is in great shape. It has some challenging features (like well placed creeks throughout). Fairways are forgiving but sage brush will gobble up errant shots. The greens are challenging on this course. The course has no yardage markers so bring a gps or distance finder. I use Golfnow complete on my phone. Be careful on the tenth tee. A bad slice will hit the first house at about 200 yards. The resident there was quite unkind to me (I didn't even hit the ball) and accosted us because a ball hit his house. Also, they are enlarging the biker on 6, making an aggressive shot across both creeks even more risky! read more

This review is for Wolf Run Golf Course and the Barracuda PGA Golf Tournament Volunteer's dinner in which they catered. Wolf Run is a public golf course managed by Duncan Golf Management. Duncan once managed the Fallon, NV public golf course and they manage several courses in the Northern Nevada area. The golf course is very beautiful with a nice combination of local flora and fauna and a well kept green. I have actually used the driving range here. A beautiful setting in our perfect summer Reno weather makes for a relaxing time hitting balls. We were under a huge tent which may be a permanent part of the course. I understand that Wolf Run has a lot of events here. Initially it was a pretty warm setting. The interior could be improved if there were misters. But as the evening cooled off, the setting became quite nice. There was an ongoing joke about the prime rib that was marketed as dinner for the event. We had chicken and pulled pork. Hmmm ??? The chicken was roasted and tasted pretty good. The dinner also included bread, macaroni, potato salad, cookies and brownies, lemonade and tea. There was also red and white wine on the table. The macaroni was good - I am a pasta junkie The wait staff was "johnny on the spot" and kept the tables organized and clean. They were very nice. Big private lot. No problem with parking. Wolf Run is a really nice place for a summer's eve event and they do a nice job of catering. read more

He could of grouped everyone together and then spread teetimes out to keep play moving!!! Shot a 83 from blue-greens are true and in good shape For the first time playing this course you really need a yardage book-creeks come into play on a couple holes and u need to lay up-you can't see them until u get up there and see that your perfect shot is in the drink. Wolf Run is one of many local golf courses in the Reno area One of my two favorite to play. One of five courses owned and managed by Duncan Golf Management. This course is truly what I would picture if someone told me I was playing a high desert course. There are very few trees ( which is ok if you can't stay in the fairways), lots of rocks, and an interesting terrain. Very little water hazards- a couple of creeks to play across four times and one pond that can be quite intimidating for a par 3. It's a challenging course yet can be rewarding when played enough to get that occasional par or that exciting birdie I suggest morning tee times as Reno seems to get a little windy in the summer afternoons and there is nothing on this course to slow the wind down. Remember there aren't any trees for shade in our hot afternoons. Although they offer some nice specials in the late afternoon for pricing It's not just a round if golf- there are several animals to watch. Marmots of all ages are out eating grass and sunning. I need to teach them how to move my ball to better positions. Eagles and hawks soaring and searching for food. Coyotes that wonder across fairways uncaring. And the occasional snake. Thank heavens I have never seen a rattle snake there There's a nice pro shop to pick up anything you need or forgot. A bar and restaurant to hit after a round. Also a driving range, putting green and chipping practice area. If you are ever up for a round let me know, I'm always up for a few hours of play on a gorgeous day read more

I paid $55 for a reunion event here and it was above par. Pun intended. It included the golf cart, free water bottle per person, and tees. 18 holes total and all the holes were all fun. I surely lost a view in the water/creeks but you always have. Fridays they have free appetizers at the lounge. Includes coffee, tea, water, chips & salsa, cheese, etc. As far as dress code, I hear gold is a formal sport and a polo is required and no denim. I saw a few people in shirts without a big deal, but don't take my word for it. I really liked this place. It's clean, friendly, and lots of fun! read more

Very nicely laid out course in south-west Reno, close to the bottom of Mt. Rose Hwy. About 25 minutes from downtown which is nice b/c you feel a certain proximity to nature here, with rolling Sierra foothills, desert rocks/landscape and a cold water creek that winds through the course. I love courses that seamlessly blend a course into the natural lines of the hosting land. It's like a massage to the eyes, very soothing and relaxing. Outside of the challenging and manicured course itself, nice amenities are offered: upscale bar and restaurant, GPS in the carts, and a refreshment cart that drives around the course. So in turn, the prices reflect the offerings which is a little higher than any muni course but still quite fair in my book. I paid $45 to play 2 pm on a weekday, not bad for what I got. A real nice find here in Nevada, and will definitely be back to lower my score. Ps. I saw on their website that they offer a wine tasting package on Wednesdays. What a cool way to end a round, and usually I am in so need of a drink after a round, and this way its educational as well. Score! read more

The good... The staff was a friendly as can be.. from booking the tee time to getting started. The course is well maintained and a good game of golf (I hit 5 pars so I was a happy guy) The club house is nicely appointed and the food fair at best (French Dip). And the cherished "free refill to go" was no problem-o. The Bad... Dont get me wrong I had a great time on this course. BUT it was the 1st time I had played it. I got lost and had to ask directions 4 times. The Ugly.. The GPS system crashed 7 times. And I have to admit the ads on the dysfunctional GPS between holes wasn't a favorite. NOT a good thing when your already lost. AND unless I missed em.. Where are the Hole Markers? Overall a good game of golf... Just bring a guide dog and your own GPS read more

Let me say to other reviews, I don't care about rude or incompetent staff or course conditions. These change daily and with season. I care about layout. This course had a very enjoyable and scenic layout. I liked it very much. Only drawback was no yardage marked anywhere. I saw one tiny 100 yard plaque once on a hole and that was it. This is one my favorite places to play when I am visiting Reno. It's not too far from the main strip and even closer to where I usually stay at the Grand Sierra. The course is well laid out and fun to play. The small creeks that run though the fairways make course management crucial. It's not just always bash it and go which I like. I just played on May 10th and 11th, 2014 and the condition of the course was superb. Greens are rolling true and the fairways have recovered nicely from the winter. The staff is friendly and helpful, practice area is good and the range isn't over priced. The one down side is that of all the courses I've ever played that truly needs water jugs on the tee boxes to stay hydrated this place has zero. It's the desert. Get some water jugs. But that's a small thing. I recommend giving this place a try on your next visit! Just BYOW! read more

It breaks my heart to leave this review. My grandfather was a member of Wolf Run for over a decade. I have played over 20 rounds at this course over the last 2 years and I feel the need to share how awful of an experience I had today. This review is for the man working the shop in the afternoon of 08/16/22. The one who looks like a retired college professor, who believes he's way overqualified for his job. We attempted to tell him how difficult our round was today. There were two groups waiting at the tee box at our tee time, and they were even waiting on the group to move down course. The starter let us start the back 9 (thank god he did or else we wouldn't have even completed 9 holes). We had to wait at least 5-10 minutes after each hit. We had to skip holes and we even tried to return to the front 9, but still it was so backed up. When we tried to talk to the professor about the poor rate of play, he immediately got defensive. We asked if we could come back tomorrow and complete our 9, but all he was concerned with was tattling on the starter for being a kind person and letting us start on the back. For a $55 tee time I am extremely dissatisfied. The course was poorly maintained and they definitely over sell their tee times. I would suggest playing Toiyabe, Lakeridge or SilverOak before ever considering a tee time here. read more

They have nice and tidy tee boxes and plentiful adorable wildlife with amazing and fast greens. The fareways were heavy with divets but as it's off season we didn't mind so much and the hazards aren't too hard to retrieve your balls from. We look forward to playing again during the height of the season. read more

I love Wolfrun golf course it is Duncan golf tournament director that gives Duncan golf a bad name. He uses deceptive business to get buisness. I booked 4 tournaments for my men's club travel days at $50.00 green fees per course. After telling all the men's club members it would be $50.00 when we got to Lakeridge we were charged $65.00. I had booked these tournaments for the last 3 years with the old tournament director never had a problem. I had over 60 players at each course all 3 years. So now they lost my buisness and 240 rounds of golf next year. read more

Great during peak. Wouldn't recommend in the winter. No starter, no Marshall, no drink cart. Be prepared for 5-6 hour round. Members just hop on to the first tee whenever they want in groups of 5 or 6. read more

This is a really nice course. Creative layout, nice water features, extremely well maintained with diverse tee box locations and challenging greens. Pace of play on a holiday was great, my foursome finished in just over 4 hours, kudos to the Marshall for keeping things moving. Carts are modern and well outfitted, even have USB charging ports. Friendly staff, nice bar at the club house, good price for what you get. Instantly one of my favorite courses in Reno. Can't wait to play here again. read more

Our golf club traveled as it does every year for our tournament in the Reno area. We have played most courses in and around Reno. After several years of avoiding Wolf Run due to over booking on the course and letting the men's club dictate tee times we decided to give it a try one more time. The course is managed by a ground called DGM, it's like Troon only smaller. They now manage Dayton Valley and Lakeridge along with several others. The course was in good shape, the staff was wonderful. However, their desire to overbook has not stopped. Our contracted tee time was 11:09 and we did not tee off until nearly noon. Having folks driving from the bay area, this was not good. Of course the round took almost 6 hours. Avoid the suffering, do not play at DGM golf courses. The locals know this reputation as well and told us not to play at these courses. Will listen better in the future. read more

Wolf Run is a pretty cool course in Reno. I was a tad worried when I arrived because the club house isn't much to get excited about, and the putting green up front was chewed to shit. I learned that the dead patches were due to a mold formed during the snow season. I played in April, and again in June - and in June, the dead patches were gone. There were also these little, fat chipmunk looking critters everywhere - they were called marmots. The course is a great hilly layout, and was challenging - but not a ball buster. It was hilly, but pretty wide open. The carts have GPS. It is also the home of the UNR Wolfpack golf team. Great track at a fair price. 4 stars. read more

I didnt know what to expect when I walked on this course because of the mixed reviews. When I played the fairways were in great condition. Green and manicured, a little wet in a few places because of the little rain we had the night before. The ball was rolling well on the greens and very true in my opinion. There are little creeks running through the fairways but the GPS on the carts gave you the yardage to trouble. There are a couple blind tee shots and a couple par 3's that had a pretty substantial amount of drop in elevation. You might have to play a couple times to adjust as in any course. The staff was great. Beverage cart came around a couple times. I talked to Lori a bit and she was very friendly and helpful. Even Guy the mow guy was cool. I stopped into the bar after and had a drink. Again, friendly and professional. Even though I wasnt going to eat, I peeked at the menu and it seemed to have all the right stuff. They serve breakfast as early as the first tee time, which is good to know. If I had to be critical of the course, I would say that the main thing would be that there is no drinking water on the course. We all know how important it is to hydrate while we play. Some of the traps weren't very fluffy. That could be because of the rain before. Also, for some reason they dont want you driving the carts in the parking lot. Not a big thing, just different. All in all, I'm definately making this one of my go to courses when I'm in the area. It is a good course at a fsir price. read more

Our company hosted a networking golf brunch at Wolf Run on 6/27. The event went off without a hitch. Trista in Events was fantastic to work with. We also appreciate all the help we received from Hannah in the restaurant and Tyler in the Pro Shop. The Wolf Run staff was friendly and helped any way they could. The course is gorgeous and the patio was perfect for our brunch. The food was great! We hope to return for another networking brunch in the future. read more

My overall reaction to this course is 'meh'. A few reviewers complained of the long delays etc. I should have heeded their warning before making our tee time. There was a scramble in the morning, however, if coordinated properly, should not have caused delays once the course opened up for regular play. Our Tee time was 2:00. We pulled up to the first tee box at our appointed time and found three foursomes sitting waiting to go. Their tee times were up to 20 minutes prior to ours and still had not gone off. Needless to say, we watched the sun set as we finished up on 18. The course was in okay shape. The fairways had many areas that were under repair and overall, the course could use a little TLC. A bucket of balls was $5 (Seriously?) and no option to just purchase a small bucket, even though they had smaller baskets around the range. Although the logo for Wolf Run is cool, they miss the mark by having very few logo apparel (especially for Women) that is stylish. read more

I just got a millionth call to try and get me to advertise at this Golf Course by an aggressive telemarketing company. I have asked them to remove me from the call list numerous times. Worst yet- with Covid and all the people unemployed in this State the call was from wasn't our State of Nevada rather from the State of Washington.
