This is a review of the 9 hole par 3 course at Wildcreek, also known as the executive course. It is nice that we have a 9 hole course that we don't need a tee time to play. Once you pay the reasonable rate you line up at the first tee and take your turn. You can walk the course or rent a cart. I usually walk it and it is a good way to get some exercise. Play usually moves at a good pace and it shouldn't take more than two hours to play. The course is in fairly good condition considering it is a very popular and gets a lot of play. The average hole distance is about 150 yards. The longest hole is about 210 yards. If you don't want to spend 5 to six hours playing 18 holes this is a great alternative. read more

A couple of weeks before the July 4th weekend, one of my friends suggested making a last minute trip to Reno for some gambling and golf. Which made perfect sense since nothing celebrates the birth of our great nation like losing money frivolously and smacking balls with clubs. At over 4,000 feet up. On the side of a giant hill/mountain. In 95 degree weather. Without much of a breeze nor a cloud in sight (at least, until the last hour or so). Boy was it hot... Weather aside though, Wildcreek is actually a pretty decent place to play. The course is relatively well maintained, the pro shop is small but stocked, the clubhouse has a large grill/bar area, the carts aren't too shabby, and there's a good number of stalls at the range (there's also chipping and putting areas). Granted, we did encounter some brown areas of the course, as well as sections of the fairway and rough that were nearly rock hard, but none of that was unexpected to see considering the drought. As for how Wildcreek plays, I'd say it's rather true for the most part (as in, it does what you'd expect). It may be mostly made up of par-4s, but the total yardage is longer than a lot of the courses I've played on in the Bay Area. Given its location, elevation plays a role on nearly every hole in some shape or form (whether hitting uphill or playing the kicks/slopes), but several also incorporate a mix of traps, water hazards, and/or blind tee shots (like on the 18th). If there was a silver lining to playing in the heat (okay, to be honest, it was only bad for the first hour or so), it's that there were hardly any other people playing while we were there. So, not only did it feel like we had the place to ourselves, but we were able to play at our own pace, which resulted in one of the shortest rounds we've ever played! Plus, at $39 a person (which included carts), the rate (via Golf Now) felt quite reasonable, especially for a holiday weekend. All in all, while Wildcreek didn't impress us as much as Red Hawk did the very next day, it's still a pretty fun course that's worth a go (loved the view from the top of the 6th, by the way). That's even despite losing more than our fair share of golf balls. Then again, I might have felt differently if I hadn't finished ahead at the Blackjack tables... read more

I used to go to wild creek at least 3 times a week to get a quick 6 holes in ,I have spent a lot of $$$ not only on golf but buying merchandise in the shop , until today when thane demanded I pay a n extra 25 dollars to play 6 holes at 3:00 after I had payed an original 25 plus 10 to replay at 2:00 I was under the impression it was unlimited until closing apparently not enough seeing as I wanted to play one more round and was demanded to pay an additional 25 , for nobbed up greens and very rude staff I will not be back , and suggest you skip it as well , very unpleasant people read more

We usually go to Wildcreek to play the short par 3s on the first 9. The back 6 (because they are redesigning the course and there's not a full 18 holes) is par 4 & 5s. It's not the prettiest course, but it's got charm. The people at the front are nice and friendly. So why the 3 stars? Because the Marshall allows very very very slow play. Today, for instance, 2 men, separate carts each, were in front of us. They were taking their time. And regardless of their skill level, they had absolutely no golf etiquette. We had a line of players behind us. These guys were literally standing around, chatting and casually walking back to their carts. When balls were lost in the dry pond beds, they would disappear into the dry beds searching for their balls. It wasn't until we got to the 15th hole that we realized there was a toddler in the golf cart. A very small child. The golfer pulled the child out of the cart and while the child was crying, stood the child next to him as he swung, missed his shot and continued to try to hit 3 more balls into the rough. And then he and his friend would wander around the rough looking for their balls. The Marshall never came around to check on why it took the line of golfers to play 3 hours on short greens... I get that this is a public golf course. And it's one we frequent and will probably continue to go to because it's convenient. I just wish they would do better controlling speed of play. read more

Of course this is not the nicest golf course you can go to. It is not priced that way either. However, for the price, play ability, challenge, and views it is hard to beat. It would seem that after reading some of the reviews that quite a few people were expecting a personal assistant, wind protection, free drinks, unlimited balls, lush tropical grass, a private round with no other golfers on the course and a perfectly flat golf course that plays like mini golf their whopping $30. Try Disneyland because I have never seen that in a golf course in the high desert. Back in the real world this is a golf course that isn't driven by stuffy rules and occupied by stuffier people. This is a friendly local spot that has a bit of challenge, a lot of fun, subject to high winds, lots of golfers, and outstanding views along the way. If you are looking for Montreux, go to Montreux. If you are polite and can conduct yourself without having to call a ranger every other hole because someone's shirt came un-tucked or they shot a mulligan without the express written consent of the PGA, then this is a nice place to play. Like other reviewers have stated, this isn't the best course but it gets the job done. The unlimited 6 hole is probably the best aspect, if you want to get the best bang for your buck on a last minute afternoon trip. My main issue with the course has to be the enforcement of their rules and policies. They're very selective on who they apply to and when. For just one example if you frequent the course, some days you could be skipped by a group of 3 or 4 with no repercussions. So you might think that's acceptable at this course, another day your 2 man group decides to skip a group of 4 and this time they decide to send you to the beginning of the course. At the time of writing this, there's no driving range either. It was a decent beginner course for me when I first started playing and a good last minute decision, but for me personally, 8 months later, it's nothing more than that. read more

Second time we have golfed Wildcreek. It was a beautiful day and we didn't need a tee time. We had no wait to start playing and found the fairways and greens in great condition. It is a very nice course for a couple of seniors. The only problem we had was finding our way through the course. Luckily there was a couple ahead of us and we just followed them. It would have been nice if we had arrows or something to show us the way, as a couple times we lost sight of the couple and we had to backtrack. We don't get to Reno very often, but next time, we will return to golf again. read more

This isn't the nicest golf course I've been to, but it does the job. I have yet to play the championship course, and have only played the executive par 3 course, so this review will only be based on that. There is always a lot of parking here, which a plus as I hate having to park so far and lug my golf clubs all the way to the clubhouse. As far as the clubhouse goes, it is fairly small. It has a bar area in the back, seating in the center and a small shop. The driving range doesn't seem like it is well taken care as most mats lack those plastic tees but the chipping and putting greens are in good condition. I really liked that the executive course was challenging with the water and sand traps, but still allowed someone to play a decent game for those that don't have a strong long game (aka me). Playing the executive course, you definitely get a bang for your buck at only $15 per person and $4 for a pull cart. You are able to get a golf cart for $15 a person, but the course is so short, it's not even really worth it. The only downside I have is there are so many squirrels and gophers, seems like almost the entire reno population of squirrels live there. This is not the golf course's fault but it's easy for your ball to accidentally roll into a gopher hole (not exactly the hole in one I'm looking for). Overall, I will be back, probably next week! Lovely golf course, currently my husband is just going there to the driving range and to pitch and putt. The course itself is beautifully maintained. Would hate to see this course 'go away' for a High School. Love seeing the planes coming right over to land at the airport, just a small bonus for me. My only issue is their Bogey's Cafe....it is a small and unremarkable coffee shop of sorts but so incredibly over priced for this golf course. read more

With a well cared for lawn, diverse and adorable wildlife, and a southeast gently rolling slope (perfect for walking); I am sure the green will always catch the best light of the day. Well since there is no snow up here in winter and 70 degrees out we decided to find a golf course that was open, this course would probably be a nicer course in the spring if it was green but in February it was dry as a bone, the greens are tough. It was 45 bucks and cart path only. If this was 20'bucks then my review would Be more Stars but not worth the price. Water the dam course looks like a desert. read more

We had a tee time at 8:12am on a beautiful Sunday morning. We had our savings done on Golf Now so it was not that bad of a price. They are very friendly and helpful at the check in desk and gave my brother the senior discount so his price was even lower than what we got on Golf Now. This course is absolutely beautiful and well groomed. The greens were nice and after the first hole you could figure out if they were fast or running slow. There was a lot of people but we only had to wait a little bit on each hole. We stopped in between 9 and 10 and the snack bar was very quick getting what we needed to get back out there. This is a great course to play on for beginners and veterans some challenges and very open. Love this course!!!! read more

This is a nice option for golfing in the Reno area. Not a fancy place but the greens fees are reasonable and the staff is friendly. It definitely has a local vibe. There is a 9 hole course suitable for walking and another, separate 18 hole course with varied terrain and levels of difficulty. Beware the water hazards. Great affordable course to practice and play. There is a championship 18 hole course, 9 hole executive par 3 course (if you're in a pinch for time or want to practice your par 3 game), and a practice facility with a putting green, chipping green, and driving range with mats or you can hit off the grass during certain times of the year. What an obnoxious course with hills, valley's, dessert, more water than expected, fairways you cant see and high winds as you go higher up the mountain. And DAMN I cant wait to play there again. What a challenge. What an experience! One of the most unique courses I have played and one of the hardest with good elevation changes and strong wind. The front nine is lower in the valley and te back nine is more up the mountain. Course plays very fast, dry and hard so you get a lot more roll than expected. $45 for fee and cart. Bartender and beer cart lady were super friendly. I may have scored a terrible round but it was the most enjoyable terrible round I have ever had. read more

I write this review with realistic expectations of this golf course and others should take a few things into consideration when writing their reviews too. Nevada is in a drought, its early March, and you paid very little comparatively to play here. Give them some slack. When I go to Wildcreek its to enjoy the nice weather and play a round of golf with my friends. In my opinion, Wildcreek facilitates my objectives very well. Sure it might not be the greenest or most well maintained but you are certainly getting what you paid for. This golf course is a perfect place for the people that have NO ambition to one day join the PGA tour. If I had to guess, that would be the majority of the people reading this review. They have very relaxed rules on the course. It is a great place to pack a cooler full of beer and go enjoy yourself. All the people that I have met on the golf course or in the club house have been very nice and non judgmental. I think that before you judge the course and write your review about how yellow the grass is, you should look into your own front yard and realize that all the grass throughout Reno is yellow. Grass is hibernating and I am glad that the golf course is not using our dwindling water supply to over-water their fairways. Overall Wildcreek is the most bang for your buck. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to play a decent round of golf without spending a fortune. read more

Since I've moved to the area this has become my favorite place to cut my teeth. This is a solid golf course with a nice 18, a decent little par 3 course. So I hit this place at least twice a week. The driving range is one of the only places in the area that isn't set up on mats. You can't work on anything but driver or woods on a mat. And this place gets that. Yes sometimes the range is eaten up but there's always a little grass to hit off of. And if you never hit off the dirt you'll never learn how, or ever hit well out of a divot. And to be honest the dirt is soft so it's still the same as a nice tight fairway. Also, the chipping and putting area are always in good shape. And if you take your game seriously you can pay 8 bucks for a big bucket and spend a few hours on your game. Well worth the money The par 3 is decent. I play here at least once a week during the week after work. It's never packed on week days so it's in decent shape. The only think is that the rough is really deep. But you gotta learn how to play out of it. It's really good for learning you iron and wedges. And the putting is pretty decent. Some of the greens can run a little slow but most are true which is nice. Over all I really enjoy this course. Everyone in the clubhouse is friendly and if you have a good attitude and love the game you can come enjoy this course too. read more

This course is wonderful! It is a one stop shop for all your needs. Matt, Jake and Dan in the pro shop are super nice. If you needs lessons Erik and Dennis will get your swing figured out. CC is hands down the best bartender in town. The pro shop has gear, clothes, bags,hats everything you could possibly need at reasonable prices. As a Reno local, I usually play at Washoe County on Plumas st. I've played a number of the courses here in town as well as in the surrounding area for about 100mi. and I recently played at Wildcreek. Great course! Ignore the negative feedback - they're probably from people who played the course poorly. It's very challenging. Rolling hills, canyon shots, sidehill shots, lots of water in play. In all, it made for one of the better course layouts that I've seen in the area. I got a smoking deal on golfnow.com, the pro was very friendly, golf cart was in good condition and fully charged at 2:30 in the afternoon (which seems to vary from place to place). Pace was great... My one critique would be that the driving range needs some improvement, as it's all dirt and rough grass and it's pretty torn up. Not really a big deal, though - I don't golf from the range; I practice there and it's better practice if it's a little adverse. I had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. read more

Why must muni golf be synonymous with goose shit? Played here for first time. Other than goose-turd city, I liked this track quite a bit. I played with 3 drunken ex-Navy lads, super cool guys if not the most focused golfers. (I rocked it with an 86 from the 6700 yard blues--a tribute to being least drunk.) The front is fairly standard but then you get some great elevation changes and tough holes starting on about 7. We played in about 4.5 to 5 hours so a little on the slow side but it was packed on a Saturday. I'm sure the wind can really rip at this place. For muni golf it's decent value, $55 with cart on the weekend but look at the money you are saving for NOT being in the nearby casinos. Slope was about 131 and rating 71.9 so not an easy place. Holes 9, 17 and 18 have water in play with 9 and 18 being tough. read more

What a great day to play golf eh? Not here though. Ive played this course maybe 50 times over the past 3 years. It seems since the announcement of it being turned into a school, its going downhill fast. 3 of my buddies and i played this past Friday the 17th of May, had an 8:57 tee time. Things were great til i noticed the marshall following us around the course. Never really have problems with marshalls, they're mostly there to make sure punks are spinnin brodies in the fairway, pissing in bushes, dickin around. Today however, ole boy had an axe to grind. Behind us was a 3some, and behind them, usually not allowed, a 6some. On the end of the 7th hole the Marshall rolls up and says, " i timed your last two holes, its taken you 14 to 15 mins to finish each one, at that pace, youre on a 5 and 1/2 hour round. You guys need to speed up. Starting the 8th hole its 10:45. We started at 8:57.... so i said" not even close dude. Theres a 3 some behind us and a 6some behind them. The last two holes were. Par 3 and par 5.". He says " no, there are 2 foursomes" , so i apparently cant count. We get to the 9th green and who do we see? The marshall talking to the starter at tee 1, who is looking at us and flipping through his clipboard in what i could guess, finding out our tee time. By the way, we were off the course by 1.thats a hair over 4 hours for a 4some to play 18 holes while being harrassed by the marshall. At the turn, my buddy went to the pro shop to let them know we were being harrassed for no reason. They apologized and said dont worry. 10th hole, just bought second 6pack from snack bar....$50 per golfer, $21 a six pack of bud light. Ive personally almost dropped $100 at this course in 9 holes and getting harrassed. We tried to play Redhawk but it was booked due to a tournament. Back to hole 10, what do we see? The marshall about 3/4 up the fairway hiding behind a bush. Really? Still stalkin? Id like to say that a marshall being an Delta Bravo doesnt affect ones game but lets be realistic, it does. Cart gal came through 2 holes later, one of the guys spent enough to fill the tank on my truck but I was done donating to this club. Round ends and we say farewell. As much fun as this course has been in the past, its time to demolish this course. Ill never come back, and neither will the other three. Good riddance!!! We played Wildcreek on July 3, 2019, and were awed by the vistas and course challenges. I hope the city decides to keep this gem open as it is our go too course in the Reno/Sparks area especially with the closure of Rosewood lakes. The prices are reasonable and the course is great. On several greens and tee boxes, you get spectacular vistas of the valley and the mountains. Course conditions are also excellent We also observed a great First Tee group learning this great game. We have played every golf course in the valley and for the value Wildcreek is the best. This course also wants us to continue to come to the valley for our vacations and casino entertainment. I regularly go to the driving range here. But today When I was In the pro-shop to get some tokens, the guy told me that it will be $12. Another guy who I think works there said "in US dollars". Then the guy who was at the cashier answered and said "soon we will be accepting international.." I'm of asian ethnicity and I got offended. It's 2015, and "insensitive people" should not work in a facility where people of different races go. read more

This is a pretty nice course with some fun holes. However, when I played on Saturday it took 5.5 hours. Ridiculous! Get someone out there to tell the slow players to speed up. A round of golf should never take more than 4.5 hours if the flow of play is being managed properly. read more
