The miso soups were delicious and priced well. The jalapeño hamachi is an award winning dish and I can see why. It was SO good. My husband actually saved the vinaigrette to try with other dishes. We also enjoyed the beef tataki, I did feel like it was a little on the chewy side but overall good. We loved the moonlight roll, the flavors and sweetness were good, I did feel like it was missing heat from the spicy tuna. I'm sure that if I were to visit again and order any other tapas, I'd like them, too! But unfortunately, for a restaurant with "sushi" in the name, the sushi menu is surprisingly unappealing. (Side note: I like the naming convention of the rolls, but they're not descriptive, and it makes the restaurant's already-lacking theme more incohesive.) All of the sushi rolls on the menu have repeating ingredients, even more so than other sushi restaurants, so there's not much reason to order multiple rolls because they're pretty much all the same roll. During this visit, I noticed there were no options for nigiri or sashimi (which I prefer when going out for sushi), so we only got tapas and rolls--and honestly, we should have only gotten tapas. The restaurant was chilly and dim, so I wasn't really eager to be there awhile, but luckily the food came out quickly. Overall, I had a good experience, but I wouldn't say my experience with Mint was anything to write home about. The whole vibe was weird. First there was a big friendly welcome to the sushi bar "Hey! Ask questions! This is the best seat in the house!" Then, I asked what the hand roll of the day was, and none of the 5 people behind the sushi bar even looked up. When our server stopped by I asked her. She answered the question. The friendly guy who welcomed us to the sushi bar never returned. There were a handful of young chefs in training. A trainee admitted they were trying to make our sushi but said the real chef would probably return and re-do it. This wasn't said to us, it was said to other trainees, but I know what I ordered. Sure enough when the chef came back he looked at her work, she stepped aside and he went to work at the same spot. Eventually it was served to us and he asked how long we had been waiting and apologized for the wait. Where had he gone anyway? We also ordered the sushi roll of the day. It had three slices of jalapeños and those were SO HOT they were almost inedible. I love spicy food. This was crazy! It was a poke hand roll. When the jalapeño slices were removed, it was still atomic. We had also ordered a spicy yellow tail hand roll that was so bland that I asked if they had forgotten to make it spicy, or if we had forgotten to order the spicy one. Nope.
