Our server, Oli(ver) was amazing. They changed the menu the day we came in, but he got us the Burrata & Peaches from yesterday's menu. (There's a newer buratta with pears on the updated menu that sounds good, too.) The Blanca pizza was great. The chicken, peppers, and goat cheese were a perfect combination, but the crust was so perfect that I'm sure any pizza here would be amazing, with whatever toppings you choose. Pesto was well done as well with excellent balance of basil, garlic and Parmesan. Pappardelle was bland and noodles lumped together in one pile. Buratta and pears were too cold impacting flavor. Service is stuck between wanting to be appropriate for a $40+ per person per plate and striving to check boxes to get you on your way. Entrees coming when dirty plates from apps still remain, Dessert menu dropped two minutes after entrees served, busser coming by with dirty dish cart asking to clear your water glasses. Please don't cart the dirty dishes through the dining room, please don't put fingers inside glasses when you clear them. This is the stuff you expect at fast casual, not when the bill exceeds $200. read more

Looking for something upscale in Italian so we took my adult kids here. It is in a strip mall but that is the only thing that was not high quality. It is pricey but what is not when you eat out anymore. The service was wonderful. We went as little early so we were able to get right in. I would recommend getting reservations. We started out with the focaccia bread and the charcuterie board. Both were very good and enough for 2. We ordered the lasagna, chicken parm , pesto trecciini and the potato Agnolotti. The lasagna was great and enough for 2. The chicken parmesan was in a bed of the homemade pasta which they make fresh everyday. My kids said that theirs were also wonderful. The timing for the food was perfect. I hate it when you go someplace and you get your appetizer and they then bring out the entree before you even start. They did not do that here. Food was surprisingly incredible. My favorite food in the world is lasagna and I have had close to 100 lasagnas and this is by far the best I have ever had. My boyfriend is not into goat cheese but was borderline possessed by their goat cheese and marinara appetizer he is still talking about it a week later. The cocktails were also really great! I really wanted to love this place, but there were some issues that may be due to being a relatively new restaurant. First the positives: the staff was polite, attentive and communicative. Menu wasn't overwhelming and the food was good. The Decor was modern and bathrooms were unique. Management came by to ensure satisfaction which was a nice touch. The issues: the servers did not know fine dining etiquette so the service was quite awkward, the food wasn't fancy which would have be fine if it wasn't such a contrast to the ambiance (chic setting, high prices, yet basic food). This place has potential to be excellent if the servers are better trained - if the staff could experience first hand a fine dining meal and were taught etiquette, this place would become special without having to elevate the food. We heard about an Italian restaurant in a strip mall in Sandy and thought it couldn't be that good but were we surprised. Scelto is a hidden gem for anyone seeking authentic Italian fare in a cozy, elegant setting in the south end of the valley. We started with the roasted cauliflower which was amazing. I had the seared scallops which were cooked to perfection and my partner had the bone in ribeye, medium rare, which melted in your mouth. We shared the sweet potato pasta which also was amazing. Dessert was a delightful finish: the tiramisu was light and airy, with just the right balance of espresso and cocoa. Highly recommend traveling to Sandy for a date night, special occasion or out with the girls, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. read more

I believe 3.5 stars is a fair review, but I'll round up to 4. It's not terrible by any means, just wasn't my favorite. It's new(ish) and I believe it will get better with time. For my first visit, I just wasn't amazed or thrilled. We ordered: Arancini Cesar Salad Spaghetti & meatballs Lasagna Just water, no dessert. Total bill was $104 with tip. The Arancini wasn't my favorite, it barely had any mushrooms in it. The spaghetti and meatballs were good, and the lasagna was also just, good. I wish they offered table side grated Parmesan cheese, I think that would have been a great addition to the overall experience. Also I think a piece of bread with the spaghetti or lasagna would have been great. The lasagna portion wasn't big and looked basic on the plate alone. Some bread or something with it would have been a nice touch, especially since the lasagna was $25 alone. The service was good, the waiter was great and the hostess very welcoming, they held the door open for coming and going guests which is a great gesture, but it was snowing and windy out so it made the tables and waiting area closest to the door very cold. I came here with some friends after seeing an IG foodie account rave about this restaurant. I do think it was over-hyped and the food didn't really live up to the high reviews I saw. The inside was beautiful, and it was a great modern vibe compared to the outside (it's in a strip mall in Sandy). Parking was easy since it was in a strip mall. Our server was nice but confusing at one point. When he was telling us excitedly about a gnocchi special and how we should order it, he failed to tell us it was a starter. By the time he came back around to take our orders, one of us wanted to order that gnocchi he had hyped up and that was when he said it was not an entree, it's a starter, so then we had to re-decide what to order. Our server was nice, but I think unexperienced. Amongst our group, most of us enjoyed our food but I do think it was overpriced and portion sizes were a bit small. We ordered the bread to start and we wish there was more of it for the price we paid. The bread itself was not really anything special; I have had much better complimentary bread elsewhere, let alone paid. I was not thrilled with my pappardelle with truffle and goat cheese. It lacked flavor and was very greasy. It was pretty much dripping in oil, and yet the pappardelle was sticking together in a clump and I had to use a knife to even eat it. I could not just eat it with a fork. The sauce lacked salt and flavor in general, and there wasn't much of it-- it felt like most bites were plain pasta noodle with a lot of oil. The pappardelle noodles were cold, so along with the clumping I assume they finished cooking the pasta way before they were ready to put on the oily sauce and serve it. It was overall a disappointing experience trying to eat that dish, especially at that price point. I would be willing to maybe give them another shot in the future since they are still new, but definitely will not be ordering their pappardelle again. read more

All of the food was good, not great. For the price it is a 3-4 stars. Seems people loved the short rib but it felt equivalent to mom's slow cooker pot roast for me. Sea bass was a bit too fishy. This place is awesome!! High end Italian dining without driving to Salt Lake is a welcome surprise. Beautiful modern design inside. We started with the brussel sprouts that were crisp and delicious. I had the short ribs that were fork tender and delicious. My wife had the salmon that was to die for! It was so light and fresh. Our group tried every dessert. The crème brûlée was good and the lava cake was warm and delicious paired with berries. All in all, a great night with attentive service! We were even visited by the head chef and one of the owners. We are excited to see restaurants come to Sandy, we need more diversity. Seeing Scelto open was exciting. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and even a room that can be reserved for parties. The staff seemed nice, but no one came to our table for over 10 minutes after we were seated. I finally found someone to bring us water. Our waiter was nice, and helpful. Italian food is definitely our family favorite! We started of with the Chefs special gnocchi, It was ok. The pizza was ok, our kids liked it. The Bucatini was ok. The Short Rib was the good, but the meat wasn't tender. And the Carbonara was ok, the pasta was a little overcooked and it needed a little more sauce. I look forward to trying this place again in a few months with the hopes of change. New restaurants have a learning curve to bring everyone up to par, and teaching kitchen staff the menu doesn't happen overnight. read more

We went to Scelto last week for a birthday. We had a large group & I'm so glad they were able to accommodate all of us, kids included. Loved the ambiance of this place. It was very cutely decorated for the holidays. Staff was great as well! We ordered several different meals & I tried all of them!! I ordered the Sweet Potato Agnolotti. I wasn't sure what this was, but it ended up being a sweet potato ravioli type dish. It was so good!! I really liked the sage cream sauce on this & the pomegranate seeds added awesome texture to this dish. My boyfriend ordered the lasagna, which I thought was way overpriced for being lasagna. There was a lot of meat on this dish & it did taste good. Another friend ordered the Pesto Treccioni. I'm not a big pesto fan & this was very pesto-y. It was okay though, but definitely not something I could have had a whole dish of. Another friend ordered the Bolognese Pappardelle. I liked the noodles & Bolognese sauce on this dish. We ordered the kids all cheese pizza since there weren't kids menus. This cheese pizza was pretty good! The sauce was kind of a sweeter pizza sauce. I really liked it. A little disappointed in there not being bread available at the table for the price that you're paying for these meals. Having to pay extra seemed a little ridiculous. We did pay extra for the bread. It came to $7 for couple of pieces of toast like bread. With such a large group, we had to order several small baskets of bread. We also didn't love that they don't have any kids menus anymore. They said this was a recent change. We were able to order all the kids cheese pizzas, but some kind of kids meals would have been more ideal VS $19 cheese pizzas. Boyfriend & I liked our meals, but overall probably would not go back based on what we thought were overpriced meals. read more

Visited this restaurant after seeing a few foodie IG accounts post about it and give rave reviews. I'll start by saying, Utah doesn't have a great Italian food scene. So my expectations are never that high when trying new Italian here. But after just eating at another new Italian restaurant in SLC and being blown away, I was a bit hopeful. This place is hands down the worst meal I've had in a long time. Let me try to unpack it. The server was nice and attentive, I try not to be too hard in reviews about servers because I know it's a tough industry to find employees in right now. You could tell he was new, and didn't offer us any still or sparkling water even though I could clearly see Aqua Panna on another table. Ambiance is nice, they went the modern route, which I typically love but it feels a bit cold (and I don't mean temperature wise). I wish I could pinpoint it, but something was a little off. Now for the food: I ordered the caprese salad after I inquired with our waiter about the heirloom tomatoes because this time of year they can be hit or miss. I was told they tasted delicious. I was disappointed when they arrived hard and flavorless, clearly not ripe and missing that unique heirloom taste. The menu also boasted the dish was served with burrata. This was served with thick slices of mozzarella. Don't sell me on the creamy deliciousness of burrata and not serve it. We will move on to entrees. We ordered the bistecca. 14oz ribeye. Unfortunately this is either the lowest grade of ribeye I've been served or they are serving what seemed to my husband and I to be an Applebees quality sirloin. The lasagna tasted like canned chef boyaredee. We didn't finish our meal and left to eat elsewhere after. It was that bad. Unfortunately, this was a huge waste of time and money for us and I'd recommend people steer clear of this restaurant if they're used to food at this price point and even a semblance of decent Italian food. Don't believe the hype of these "foodie" instagram accounts, lesson learned. read more
