Every time we travel to, or through, Stanley we like eating at Sawtooth Luce's. We got the chance this past weekend, and the food was even better than ever! We ordered a pizza, half was the "Pollo Loco" and other half the "Robert DeNiro". Both kinds were so good. That guy Earl makes a helluva pie! My hubby said the DeNiro paired with his Brother Thelonious beer was the perfect combination! We'll continue to stop at Luce's whenever we'e in the area. We had dinner here late in the evening, when the kitchen was undoubtedly irritated that they had to cook two more burgers...so we weren't expecting much. We were wonderfully, delightfully wrong; I got a jalapeño-cheddar burger, the hubby got plain, and we were both amazed by how good they were - we agreed that they were the best burgers we'd had for years. The fries were awesome, too - skinny and perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and quick; colder beer is the only thing I'd ask for. Exceeded expectations. Under new management and ownership. New menu. I never tried the old menu, but I look forward to going back again. We had the Chilean Sea Bass with Bok Choi and the Garbanzo Curry and Cilantro Lime Rice. Prices are reasonable. Service is cheerful and helpful. This place has terrible customer service. We also witnessed servers having an argument... Food was definitely below mediocre level. My burger came with a wilted piece of lettuce and a very old looking sad tomato slice. Fries are also frozen. Make sure to specify that you want a regular burger not the Kobe one (if you don't want Kobe) because they will just assume that you wanted the more expensive one when you won't say "not the Kobe burger". It's just their little way of scamming customers into paying more. I would never eat there again. I suggest going to Stanley Supper Club if it's open. They have very tasty food and bake awesome bread which you can take home. read more

This is our go-to place for lunch if we are in Stanley (either driving through or coming down from a backpacking trip). They have a pretty diverse menu for such a small town, and everything is made from scratch and delicious!! There is also have a decent selection of beer and wine! So stop by and sit on the patio with the mountains as your back drop and enjoy a cold beverage and yummy snack! read more

Great dinner tonight at sawtooth Luce's. We had a cup of the special hot and sour mushroom soup, followed by the pork belly lettuce wraps and the Sawtooth bowl which was like a risotto with tons of vegetables and extremely flavorful. The lettuce wraps were wonderful also. Ate every bite. Wine pours were very generous, service was excellent. read more

They get all the stars! The people are great and the food is so flavorful. I got the Kobe blue cheese burger. 1/2 pound of Idaho beef cooked perfectly with that mouthwatering pink center. New ownership and menu; which frankly makes me sad. We enjoyed the old pizza menu with pitchers of Bass Ale. Now the menu sounds more inspired....but I've only made 1 visit. The execution is mixed: beef was well-cooked (as ordered), tasty and nicely presented. Iced tea and pasty lime soup (unknown design) were barely edible from over use of citrus in both. Good food, good service, paid bill, left 15% tip. All good right? WRONG! Husband forgot card so we went back to retrieve it. I walked in the door and our server knew why I was there. Oppsie, chuckle chuckle. She tells another employee, "You have her card?" This other employee says "How was your service?" I said great, thank you! Then she calls me out on the amount of the tip I left. What the hell? I have never felt so embassed/angry? I don't even know how I feel. I would never call someone out like that. We are all doing the best we can and some times we can't afford more than a 15% tip. Disgusted to say the least. read more

Excellent, excellent meal. My husband and I split the blue cheese burger - the beef was amazing! My kids also had great meals...my daughter had the tomato bisque off the kids menu, and it was delicious (lots of basil), and my son had a wonderful berry salad. Best place to eat in Stanley. Have been going here for several years. Food is great and service and attitude equally as good. Most of the places in town serve similar food at a similar price - what differentiates Sawtooth Luce's is the great staff (friendly, competent) and I'd say the food is better. Win/win. This time around, I had the regular cheeseburger (not the Kobe one). It was one of the best burgers I've had. They actual SEASON their burgers, they don't just give you a big lump of meat on a bun. Every part of the burger was delicious, moist and flavorful. My companions had the curry dish and a kobe beef burger, and each were equally impressed. Here's an example of how they handle things - they were short-staffed the day we went and very busy. The waiter acknowledged us and apologized for the wait. The food took a bit longer than preferred but he kept us updated. The bottom line is a little extra wait here or there for a reason is understandable, and no big deal - the key is to simply communicate graciously with your patrons - which they did. Top-notch staff and food will keep me coming back every year, multiple times during my trip. read more

This place has amazing food! The burgers are unbelievable! Excellent service from their friendly staff. Surprisingly, they had a great selection of beers on tap from local brewery's as well as your standard offerings. They also offer outside seating to enjoy the mild Stanley weather if you're trying to escape the heat of lower Boise or Meridian. I highly recommend the Bleu Burger. I'm not a huge bleu chese fan but the owner, Chad, recommended it and it was unreal! They're only open for lunch and dinner but well worth it if you're passing through for fishing or other Mountain fun. Go there, you won't be disappointed. read more

Wonderful place out in the middle of nowhere in Idaho. Best lunch in a very long time! Mussels in a garlic-butter-wine sauce that rivals the dish we had in Nice, France last spring. The fries that go with it must have been local Idaho spuds. So crispy with a creamy inside. WOW. Then we had a Kobe beef sloppy joe as the other entree. Again something really, really tasty. Who can believe a town with a population of 63 can have a restaurant of this wonderful quality? If we were from around here, it would be a go-to place for us. Unfortunately, you will have to wait until spring to get the food here as they are now closed for the winter. Make a point to go in the spring!!
