First time at Sauders and wow we were blown away! We started with lunch, always better to shop on a full belly. The food was incredibly fresh tasting and we got everything photographed (plus 2 drinks) for $36! We ended up buying some containers of the macaroni and potato salad for home. So, I still love Sauders, always will. Fantastic store owned and operated by the mennonites. They some of the nicest people on the planet. They are so gracious and so helpful when in their store. I swear, I do not think I have ever encountered an employee at this store that was rude in any way. I absolutely LOVE how busy this store is. I will always smile when I see a local store that does great vs seeing the big box stores that do too much. Then throw in that this store is owned and operated by mennonites...that makes it even better. I was in here a few weeks ago with my mom when I was visiting her. PACKED! I couldn't believe it. So again, that makes me smile, makes me happy...to see this store continue to get even more popular with each passing day, passing year. They have everything a regular grocery store does, maybe not all the mainstream brands, but you seriously cannot go wrong here. One downside. OK so no matter what, you will save money of you shop here. HOWEVER!! like most places...the prices have increased here. That makes me sad. I get prices have gone up everywhere, but its little things like... ok....So if you are in any state where there are Amish and Mennonites.. you will always prefer their baked goods over the tired ass mainstream brands...whyyyy? because Mennonites and Amish just know how to bake and they make some of THEEEE BEST EVERRRR! That being said, I used to buy like a 10pk of Snickerdoodles at Sauders. First they were $1.99. Then they went up to $2.99. NOW!!! NOWWWW...they are $5.99!!! Thats BEYOND Wild to me. I did not buy them. I can't pay that much knowing what they were before. Yes, they are phenomenal, but I can go to an Amish baked goods stand or a store in like Penn Yan owned by Mennonites and get them much cheaper. Sorry, Sauders, I do not get the massive increase there. Again, yes, prices have increased on their items, but you will still save shopping here. That was just one tiny example. Im a wh__re for a snickerdoodle LOL. So I wanted to cry when I saw that bc I always got them when I. go home. Those days are over. Got some of the muffins tho. This is a grocery store run by the Mennonites in upstate New York (Seneca Falls area). It's a large and beautiful store with farm fresh produce, hand crafted/ local cheeses, baked goods, and jarred preserved foods. In addition to foods that are made locally and grown locally, they have good such as toys and furniture and other items that are made locally as well! Beautiful hand crafted wood works from dining room furniture to smaller items for decor, to Amish made sheds! The folk running the store are kind people that are very friendly. They are people of the land, so they don't help with technology questions, but they're extremely knowledgeable about anything food or craftsman related! read more

Saunders is a big grocery store run by the menonites. There's lots of meats, fresh produce, baked goods, freshly ground peanut butter, a cheese counter with ample samples, and plenty of baking supplies. Specialties would be their jams and pickles- I have fun just looking at the names of them. Their candy selection is also good, especially if you like gummy candies. I can also find some unique sodas such as white birch beer, sassafras soda, and cheerwine to name a few. There is a little gift shop/religious books section near the front, which can be nice to browse through. Saunders sells outdoor furniture and decor, and there is a furniture store proper attached. I've been especially tempted by their swiveling and gliding rocking chairs. I've had some good food at the cafe, the Reuben in particular being super tasty. You do have to enter the cafe through the store and park your cart before you go into the cafe. You order at the counter and then the staff gives you a number and will bring you your meal. Car parking is ample here but there are speed bumps, so watch it! I haven't noticed any bike racks, so cyclists likely need to get creative. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested this spot. What a great place! This is a Mennonite grocery store that has a cafe inside. The food is basic but tasty and incredibly cheap! I got a grilled cheese that was absolutely oozing (a little greasy, but yummy) and soup, as well as cheese fries. I love cheese fries! The cafe is clean and there are a good amount of tables. The furniture is plain but there are windows and a cozy little fireplace. The store is massive - I've heard it started small and then expanded. It has an extensive grocery stocked with local goods. I got pickled okra and smoked gouda pretzels to bring home and everything was delicious. There are also random general supply stores and knick knacks. Very cool place, and one of the only spots in Seneca Falls that's open during lunch time as far as I can tell. read more

The BEST shopping experience in and around Rochester, NY. Yes a little bit of a drive, but, in nice weather driving Highway 5/20 over is a beautiful and you can avoid the Thruway. The produce selection is amazing, and most from NY and PA or near by locations. The small cafe is fantastic. The bakery goods are so VERY good and the in-house butcher shop is the best. Their sausages are wonderfully flavored and very tasty, as is the ham, chicken and other goods, many cut and prepared right there. If you've never been to an Amish grocery store this is the one you need to go to. It used to be like a little mom and pop store. And then they expanded and boy am I glad they did they have fresh cold cuts fresh in-house butchered meat. Little knick knacks kitchenware and it's all in bulk. Every aisle you go down is amazing just the things to look at fresh bakery baked goods a cheese department they even have a little restaurant which there's always a line from the minute they open probably till closing people buying subs Pizza you name it breakfast sandwiches. Everything's delicious. I love their meat selection great prices always fresh and their produce oh my gosh their produce is amazing it's always top quality the freshest as fresh can be. They also sell sheds and outdoor furniture. If you go next door in the old grocery store part they have furniture everything from beds and dressers to sofas and chairs and kitchen tables. Find quality craftsmanship. About 20 years ago I bought a coffee table and end table and it still looks like brand new. Sauders is LOVELY. My mother visited for the first time recently and told me later that same day that she wanted me to go back with her so I could check it out too. I didn't realize how large the place would be, let alone what a delightful selection of produce, meats, bakery items, jarred jams/jellies, or pickled items would be available. It's definitely one of those locations where you wander around to find unique selections, but you can also get great quality basics like prepared pizzas, salads, and so on. One of the things my mother wanted to grab during this most recent trip was one of the cherry pies from the bakery area... and while she got a large cherry pie, I picked up one of their mini-strawberry/rhubarb pies. So cute! On top of that, there's a nice little café where you can grab a bite to eat during your shopping experience. They also have a very nice selection of beautiful plants for sale outside, and even have items like gazebos for sale outside / in the back of the building. Of course, there's a Mennonite/Amish feel to the store, and spaces like the book nook area contain puzzles, books, and gifts that are more religiously-focused. Even if that's not necessarily your thing, it doesn't take over the environment of the store. If anything, there's honestly just a strong sense of pride in what's available at the store - and the workers clearly take pride in providing a lovely experience. My husband called it "Amish Costco". Never didn't think I'd enjoy walking through a supermarket on vacation! The cafe was packed and for good reason, good coffee, good sandwiches, and friendly service. All the other departments had interesting food for sale and the people working here are helpful and friendly. There was even a relatively affordable souvenir area. If I'm back in the area, I will definitely come back with a better plan than I had on this visit, walking around aimlessly for two hours. The mums were beautiful! They were a great price for big, full pots.... with a nice selection of both flowers blooming and many pots with buds starting to open. An amazing variety of colors. Pumpkins, gourds, squash, decorations and everything you want for fall. They have an enormous meat section with cold cuts, cheeses and butchered meats. They have smoked pork chops and house made sausage in many varieties. Too many choices to list. I bought dried green lentils and smoked pork hocks to make a tasty soup. I am a huge fan of jams and jellies and if you are as well, you have to check out their aisles of such! The kids go crazy over the extensive candy selections. Most products are competitively priced, although their meat prices are on the higher end. I fan over the quilts they have for sale and furniture, most of which are out of my price range! Love this place! So cheerful and open inside for shopping for everything from soup to nuts. For fall they have quite a display of pumpkins of every size and stunning mums. The prices are reasonable also. Not my first time at the store but my first time having lunch. This is a busy place at lunch but they are very organized and keep the line moving. I ordered a BLT on honey oatmeal bread and I side of potato salad. The price was just $7.77 for sandwich and $2.69 for side. The sandwich was generous and came with chips. Bacon was cooked perfectly and bread was toasted perfectly. The potato salad had small diced potatoes that were cooked perfectly with a dressing and dill. I did miss the eggs in the salad but it was a good variation. My girlfriend got a sub sandwich and it was huge!!!! I could spend many hours here just looking around it's a very cool place. Their frosted carrot cake is the best anywhere. For my family this is a stop we make every month or so. If you are looking for regional food gifts this is the place to come- coffee, jellies, jams, pickles, popcorn- everything you need for a nice package. My family lives in the area, so I stop in often. I love their baked goods, they are always great - my favorites are the whoopie pies and oatmeal cookie sandwiches. The veggies/fruits are hit and miss as sometimes much higher prices than other shopping locations in the area. They have some excellent low sugar jams/jellies and pickled everything. The Deli has a large selection and excellent prices. They carry all Yancey's cheese flavors with great prices. Their house made nut butters are a must buy - Honey Roasted PB is a favorite in our home. They also carry a nice variety of flavored coffee beans. Where Sauder's shines is the huge variety of baking items - tons of flours, seasonings, extracts available. They have a nice café which gets quite busy at lunch time. They offer burgers, pizza, soups, subs but my favorite are the excellent house made fries. They have a small seating area and makes for a cute lunch experience. Wow! Locals get to call this their regular grocery store. They are lucky. When you think Amish grocer you probably think quaint. This place is not quaint. It is a power house. Everything you would expect from a regular grocery store and many things that are special. The summer offerings were awesome. Fresh from the farm. I grabbed green beans, tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe. All were outstanding. My real reason for stopping. Peaches! They had pecks of peaches at very reasonable prices from Amish country in Pennsylvania. After about three days they were peach perfection. If only they were that good year round. I also observed a very impressive display of smoked meats, an awesome deli and a cafe. Jars of homemade pickles, relishes, spreads etc. They had homemade bread in the bakery. Want an Amish quilt? They had those too. Don't worry about that whole no electricity thing. They accepted credit cards too. Sauders is worth the stop off the NYS thruway. WOW, I seriously want to give this place a 5, but I can't. Here's why..... I've heard my dear friend Anna tell me this place has "THE BEST ZUCCHINI BARS". Well, on our way to dinner I said, let's go! I need to try these bars as a pre-dinner dessert! She warned me that it was a Friday night and the best baked items usually sell out by early afternoon. Well, she was right. I mean, come on.... if you've got some top sellers, can you start making more and keep them in stock?? I asked the sweet Amish gals behind the deli counter if they had any more in the back. They say Sauders is a unique country store and that's true but it's so much more. First off you can't miss or drive by this place, big store with lot's of parking. Right as I walked up to the door I was greeted with all different sized pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks and any other autumn decorations you would want. I really like these cool looking green and white striped ones, lots of colorful combinations you could make. Once inside, the first thing I noticed was the cafe with a small seating area. Coffee smelled so good, $1.29 12oz and $1.59 for a 16oz. They have this great sign...never enough coffee... so very true! I could tell that their bakery section is a customer favorite. Their were lots of people picking up fresh bread and pies all while still asking about a certain flavor that was all out on the shelf. Each question was answered with a smile and a polite I would be happy to look in the back but I think we are all out. ***tip here, go early in the morning if you want something particular. Such as grape pies, zucchini bars, pecan and dutch apple pies. These were a few of the items I overheard people asking for. They have a large sections of homemade canned jams and jelly's that I found very interesting. So many unusual flavors and combinations to me... like blueberry peach, strawberry peach and apple raspberry. I spend some time in the coffee isle, so many different types and flavors. I wish they had a small sampling section here. It was tough trying to figure out what you would like. Produce section was well stocked with lots of fresh items, everything is so well displayed and organized. Prices were either a great deal or to high. The same with the spice isle, but boy did they smell good. I like that you can see the entire container of spices so you know exactly what you are getting. The candy and snack isles were another customer favorite. So many options here and the prices were really good to. I really liked how they had a lot of smaller portion sized containers. You can definitely stock up for your sweet tooth. I would like to see more pecan options. Very cool watching them make homemade peanut butter right in the store.
