The Manhattan - lox and cream cheese with onion on rye
Kitty Y.

Up here for work and we needed a place to grab breakfast. This spot is very cute and was open! We all ordered breakfast. The service was very quick and the staff was nice and accommodating. I ordered the Manhattan - lox with cream cheese, onion and tomato on rye bread. I opted out of the pickle. It was very good, but very messy. The only thing I would change is to have be lox added after pressing because the lox got cooked and it basically became just a salmon sandwich. It was also very messy to eat so prepare yourself with lots of napkins. Matcha was okay, very sweet for something that I didn't ask sweetener to. I did ask for oatmilk so the sweetness might have come from that. Overall, I would recommend this spot. It is very clean and quick.

Bagels and Cakes has been in Geneva for a HOT MINUTE! Until last week, I had never been! My friend, Dina used to work there. She and my friend, Melissa always told me to go in, but until last week, I thought it was just...bagels and cakes lol. This is why it's important to just...go in to these places. I loved it. I was happy to see that they had food..:like salads (and many other things to choose from). Was it pricey? Hell yeah it is! I was getting ready to come back to Idaho the next day. So I was just wanted to get a couple bagels so I wouldn't have to get anything bigger at like Wegmans or wherever. Just needed something for the morning. The bagels were cheap tho...$1.35 each, I think. I asked how much their salads were. She told me and I was like... yeeeeah, nah. Just the bagels and cookie. Any bakery like this, if they have any kind of cookies I like...ima try them. They had a sprinkle cookie. Was it expensive? Damn right it was! $4.00 for ONE cookie. Did I buy it? Based on that price, regrettably...yes I did. It was SO good tho! I attached pics. The back of it was so cool looking. Like a tie dye. Delicious cookie. I absolutely love love love cookies. I watch what I eat, but again, hometown bakeries...I will definitely try the cookies vs grocery store bought ones. There's just no comparison. $4.00 tho!! Absolutely insane! As tempting as it will be next time...I will have to unfortunately...pass lol. If they get snickerdoodles tho (which they should absolutely have btw) I will have to try those. They're my favorite. So the salad. I said no. Went to the car, sat there and contemplated whether or not I should get it lol. I know, it's just a fn salad hahaha! But spending $14 on a salad at small place like this...just seems crazy to me. Was it good? Sure. The chicken was definitely tasty. I added more Romaine tho when I got back to my house. The reason...the salad was small...especially for $14. I got it because it was just convenient. I was leaving the following day, didn't wanna cook anything. So I guess it was worth it. The restaurant/bakery itself is very nice. Very homey. Very well kept. They definitely take pride in their appearance. Weird even having to say something like that and I guess bc some times you go into places like this and they do NOT care about their appearance. So it's very clean, very inviting. The help was super super sweet! Couldn't ask for nicer girls. Just really nice people. I was there the evening of Dec 5th. So whoever was working that night, 2 girls, college aged, maybe high school, thank you for being so nice and helpful. The restaurant world needs more people like you. Ok, guess that's it. Thanks for reading, YelperBageler&Cakers! Cheers!

Stopped by on a whim and am not disappointed. There are so many breakfast and lunch options. Seems like a well oiled machine as they were getting orders out very quickly and expertly. My blue burger was delicious. My son enjoyed his fingers & fries, as well as his sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. Will be back when in the Geneva area.

Half of bec on white toast and one of the two hash browns that come in an order

We were headed out of town and starving for breakfast sandwiches even though it was almost noon. We almost settled for Dunkin across the street and then say this little gem! It's an order at the counter and they call your name situation but they have lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I had ham egg and cheese on an everything bagel and it was amazing, except for when toasting the garlic and onion got pretty burnt, but I probably should have just ordered sesame bagel. Hubs had bacon egg and cheese on white toast and hash brown which was phenomenal. I also had a cup of the chicken bow tie soup that was absolutely delish.

Really good breakfast of S.E.C. & bagel with cream cheese. Both the iced chai and iced coffees were very good. Cute location and helpful employees.

Nice local bakery. Bagels were soft and fresh with good flavor. Pancakes were plate sized and good. The Humbert Street Hurley was a good sized sandwich. Bun was soft and flaky the turkey could have been a little fresher. (House hot sauce helped the flavor a ton, highly recommend). Service was helpful and friendly. Ambiance was open, spacious and clean.

Great find as we were visiting the area. Trendy cafe with lots of good stuff. I had breakfast bagel and my boyfriend had avocado toast. We also shared a bowl of homemade chicken bow tie soup. The Boost smoothie was refreshing. The menu has something for everyone from salads, sandwiches, smoothies , soups, baked goods and bonus they serve breakfast all day Plenty of tables for sit down or take out. You order your food at counter and they deliver to your table Food was delicious and friendly service.

The Manhattan Sandwich and home fries

Bagels and cakes food was delicious - I ordered the bagel and lox sandwich on Saturday to go. When I got home, I was sad to see that they had made me the Manhattan - which is a similar meal but on rye bread instead of a bagel. It was DELICIOUS - but my hope was for a bagel - from BAGEL and cakes... they also left off the capers that I paid extra for. I cannot stress how the food I took home WAS delicious and extremely well prepared, it just isn't what I ordered. Part of that is also on me for not checking before leaving with the to go order. Inside it was also pretty busy but customers got their food in a chaotic orders. A couple that was there longer than the entire 20 minutes I waited for my food never got their order even though the other half of their party did. Whenever I drive past it always looks as busy as when I was there so I am unsure what the norm is. On Sunday, my wife and I returned to B&C because she missed out on Saturday. I ordered the same order food; Bagel and Lox with no tomato. This time I got the correct bread (an everything bagel that was extremely tasty) however they also added tomato to it. To me, the tomato slip up is more understanding than the bread, however, it was disheartening to go two consecutive days and not get a correct order once. For me, if I was ONLY evaluating the quality of food - this would've been a 5/5 food experience.

Love their sausage and egg sandwich. They try really hard to make it as requested. Coffee is delicious and the staff is outstanding.

OMG!!! Deliciousness! We were lucky to get seats at the bar on a busy Saturday night, but MAN! I am…read moreso glad we did. Could be all the wine in me talking (though I don't think so from the way everyone was chowing down), but this was some Grade A BBQ! Pulled pork was laced with sauce - sweet, sticky, not the least bit dry... the spare ribs were so tender, Smokey and flavorful and honestly not a whole lot of fat... and the brisket, well it melted in your mouth. Honestly - just way too good! Drinks. Food. Service. Company - 10 for 10!

Let me get to the details: Service: staffs were not attentive, friendly, nor helpful. The restaurant was busy when we came so we decided to seat outside. However, their outdoor tables were wobbly. Also, there were no bugs control devices nor heating lamps to accommodate us. When we asked to move inside, their response was we have to talk to the host and the hostess told us it is not possible because they were "too busy".... Yet we would see an empty table where they rather seat 2 people that come after us instead of us. On top of all that, our sever never came to refill our water. For service, this place is a zero star for me. Food: we ordered their famous heavy plate. The food size was loaded for the price, everything tastes fine but nothing was exceptional. Giving them some stars for the decent food. Atmosphere: inside has lots of booth style seatings and bar seatings. They can accomplish large parties. Outdoor seating is not great as their tables were cheap and they're seating on a slope. There were no heat lamps or bug controls so I don't recommend eating outside in the evening here. Overall: honestly, we felt ignored at this restaurant. I wouldn't come back here since they're not very accommodating or nice. Highly recommend management to train their staffs better.

It was beautiful and I enjoyed meeting new people. Ravines wine is also the best I have had on Seneca Lake. Dryer and more robust. Can't wait to come back!

Wasn't sure if I should post this under Ravines Wine Cellar or under the Ravinous Kitchen, so this…read morereview might be making appearances in both.... My husband and I have been to Ravines Wine Cellars several times since 'discovering them' during a special farm-to-table dinner and wine pairing at Good Luck a few years back. That night we enjoyed a 5-course meal and each course was paired with a different wine. It was the first time we ever experienced drinking finger lakes wines that we really enjoyed and could see ourselves buying for private consumption! Shortly after that, we made the trip out to the wine cellar in Geneva to do a tasting. On our first trip, we did the wine and cheese tasting - loved everything and went home with a bottle of Meritage. On the second trip, we did the wine and chocolate tasting (which features chocolates from Hedonist) and came home with a bottle of the Vignoles. Fast forward another couple of years and we took advantage of a holiday event which featured food pairing tastings from Brown Hound Bistro at the Ravines location in Hammondsport. We left with several bottles of wine for holiday gifts. Every experience was great, with friendly and knowledgeable people, enjoyable atmospheres and yummy goodness. Most recently, I was lucky to attend a special dinner at the Ravinous Kitchen as part of a company event. There were 12 of us for a 6-course meal on a Sunday evening (usually they are closed at this time). Included was a tour of the winery and wine cellar, with time spent with the owner and the head chef. It was amazing. The chef prepared really, really delicious dishes for each wine: --We started with glasses of their 2009 sparkling Brut Rose which was delicious. Paired with a bacon puff and served with herbed crème fresh, this was a lovely little bite. --Next, while we were in the cellar, we were served a parsnip bisque with caramelized cheese. We ate that while tasting their 'new' 2015 Meritage right out of the barrel. It was cool in the cellar and the bisque and wine was a perfect little warm up. --First of the 'mains' was a large serving of local Lively Run chevre, with a side of kale and some pomegranate drizzle, served with their 2015 dry Riesling. They also gave each of us a fresh baked roll, and mine was gluten free - the most perfect gluten free roll I've ever had - truly crusty and 'French-bread-like'. I could have died happy after eating this course. --Second 'main' was a stuffed squash with some kind of spinach or creamed green inside. This was doused in brown butter and served with a smear of red miso. The dish was served with their 2013 Pinot Noir. Holy deliciousness. Unlike any squash dish I've ever had, this was definitely the table favorite. Super savory and umami, great depth. Super yum. --Final 'main' was braised beef short rib served with shaved brussels sprouts and a mushroom 'cream' made by roasting a medley of mushrooms and pureeing them with cream. This dish was served with au jus and the 2013 Maximilian red. A rich, delicious combination. I have to admit at this point I was over the top stuffed, but even so, when the chef brought out extra servings of the short ribs, I forced myself to have a bit more. The au jus was delicious and the meat was totally fall-apart tender. So good. --For dessert, we were served a butterscotch 'risotto' - basically a rice pudding with white chocolate, apricots and toasted oats. This was served with the Vignoles. Take a bite and a swig and swirl them in your mouth - flavor explosion! I really love the Vignoles. Even those at the table who are not fans of dessert wines/ports/ice wines drank every drop! (Too bad because I was offering to finish whatever anyone wasn't going to drink, but no takers....) Ravines is definitely at the tippy top of my list of favorite wineries and experiences in the finger lakes. And with all the new awesome eateries in Geneva and the focus on making the little college town a foodie destination, I highly recommend you join the Ravinous club, rent an Airbnb and go there to spend a weekend of eating, drinking and merriment!
