We went to Central and Harvard for a cuppa coffee. When we returned to our car, it was booted. It cost $75 and took a considerable amount of time for someone to come out and unboot it. When we talked to the manager, they said they didn't have anything to do with the parking lot and they weren't taking responsibility. A sign states that the parking lot is for Satellite. I have never heard of this idea that you aren't responsible for your own parking lot. read more

My friends and I came here for an early morning coffee. Since it was early and I hadn't eaten breakfast yet I ordered a sandwich. When I asked if I could get it with no cheese they told me they couldn't take off cheese as the sandwiches are pre-made. I also came again and asked if I could get the sandwich with no cheese but they also gave me the exact answer. It is frustrating to have a dairy allergy and that they cannot accommodate you yet they have alternatives for their drinks. It's not a good place for lunch if you have any dairy allergies or dietary restrictions. HOWEVER, drinks are very delicious here! Gorgeous weather day outside and still somehow plenty of patio seating with a mix of shade and sun. We ordered some Red Stuff and The Doctor on ice- two great drinks for an afternoon cool down. There were people inside who seemed deep in work mode, while people outside seemed a bit more relaxed for socializing. Many of the people seemed associated with the university. Parking was limited in the lot and on the street, but we still found a free spot in the lot. Tried the Turkey havarti spinach sandwich, which was a njce snack to share or a filling sandwich for one. A hip place to get a decent coffee and lunch. They have wifi, tons of outlets, and are LGBTQ friendly which is awesome. Their sammies are tasty too but a little expensive. Like if you want half a sandwich and a drink you're gonna spend $20 when you could go across the street to Frontier and spend $10. Their chai was disappointing (but I will say it's hard to find a good chai in ABQ in general). It's all tea and no spice, like an Earl Grey tea with creamer. Bleh. The coffee is always fantastic and this drive thru never ever gets it wrong! They are sweet, smart, and dependable and always have a friendly smile. We really love the breakfast burritos! They are spicy and full of flavor with the egg and potatoes. You really can't go wrong with this menu. This location is extra special during Balloon Fiesta or when any balloons are flying in the air! There truly isn't anything on the menu that isn't top notch, including the freshly made baked goods. Though my wife likes exploring extensively, my go to at any Satellite location is the Dirty Chai Frio (Satellite's name for a blended coffee/espresso drink). To accompany my drink, I often also order the blondie (a hybrid brownie and s'more type baked good). Regardless of how adventuress one is, the menu (drinks and pastries) is well curated and my experience has been the baristas are well prepared to make a recommendation or translate a preference from elsewhere to give you a drink/food you'll enjoy. This Satellite has a great location across Central from the University. The spot is spacious and eclectically decorated. There are often quite a few students studying but also seats available to either study, work, or sit for a bit. The feel is very cozy/homely (in a good way). Oh my heart! I studied here in college and dropped in at lunch to get some work done. I love, love, love supporting local coffee, but I was had on this one. Ordered a quad shot after finding they had Brazil on the espresso. Shots came out watery and astringent. Come to find out they were fixing their grinder so they had ground beans in an air exposed pulling cup. Whatever, still can pull a good shot from it... However, the barsita clearly did not have training on espresso machine (no packing, 9 second draw, no gram measurement). I was nice!!! I said, "Hey can i just have a coffee instead?" No biggie right? She said in a rude tone, "You dont like it? Well we think our espresso is great." Rude. Thats when I left. Poor product and Rude Service? Earned yourself a 1 star there... Stopped by here for a morning coffee with the family after seeing its pretty good reviews on Yelp. During our family road trip from CA, we had some brekkie nearby at Frontier Restaurant just one block down the street adjacent to UNM. We wanted to get some "local" coffee, and it seemed like Satellite was the only place close enough to Frontier and within walking distance. My family all enjoyed their coffees, but didn't think it was anything spectacular. However, we did enjoy the free wifi and the colorful space. There is plenty of space for loungers and students--it must be packed when school is in session! They also have a mini patio/garden-y space outside the front doors for those with dogs or people who like to bask in the sunlight. We also saw a few hippie-looking locals sitting inside the coffeeshop. The vibes were very relaxed and a bit hipster and colorful. The parking space isn't plentiful, but it's enough if you go early in the day. We parked here and walked over to eat at Frontier afterwards. read more

Stopped in here after eating at The Frontier. Ordered 2 dark roast coffees, black and a regular mint mocha "frappe". Hub and son said their coffees were excellent and my "frappe" was FABULOUS! Waaaaaay better than Starbucks. We aren't in this area usually. I see that there's a Satellite in the Los Ranchos area, where I am more often. There are few times in life when you can actually expect anything more than average coffee from a cafe like starbucks or the local alternative, satellite. I have to say that despite my snobbish ways, the americano here has kept me happily caffeinated for three years. The coffee isn't too acidic and the espresso is sweet and smokey. If you are looking for your easy in and out coffee shop this place is great. It is also perfect for table top meetings, solo studying in an arm chair, and breakfast with friends before class. The drinks and treats are your standard coffeehouse fare, and i was pleasantly surprised to find nitro coffee on tap. While this location has a nice little patio out front, we found the homeless and wanders to be aggressively chatty (to us and each other and occasionally to themselves), making sitting outside a short lived experience. I really usually only get two drinks. An iced Americano and a coffee and both of those are good. Flying Star/Satellite's coffee has gotten better than long ago and they do an Americano well. My complaint with this location is it's internet connection which has been spotty ever since I've been going there years back and they keep the place hot in the Summer. They don't really put much in AC in contrast to Starbucks which usually requires you to get a coat or hat in the Summer while inside. Also there is the parking situation during the school semester which makes me want to avoid the place completely. Other than that great single seating to just chill with the laptop and great place to just take in the UNM area and the people who live, work or go to school around there. read more
