I really usually only get two drinks. An iced Americano and a coffee and both of those are good. Flying Star/Satellite's coffee has gotten better than long ago and they do an Americano well. My complaint with this location is it's internet connection which has been spotty ever since I've been going there years back and they keep the place hot in the Summer. They don't really put much in AC in contrast to Starbucks which usually requires you to get a coat or hat in the Summer while inside. Also there is the parking situation during the school semester which makes me want to avoid the place completely. Other than that great single seating to just chill with the laptop and great place to just take in the UNM area and the people who live, work or go to school around there. read more

I really enjoy Satellite when I'm in town. I usually head to the one further down Central but I went to this location and really enjoyed it. Their coffee is always really good. I'm a Peets girl in Cali but this is way better than Starbucks. They have good pastries (not that I know that personally :-)). It's comfortable and they have WI-FI. The purple couch is not a comfortable as it looks but the leather chairs are yummy. What else can I say about a coffeehouse. You can get work done, have some great espresso and be comfy. read more

I love this place. I come either here or to the one on university if I want a great cappuccino and breakfast burritos this is an option. The staff at this location are wonderful. Satellite isn't near the top of my favorite cafes in Albuquerque and it's always, consistently quite good. As in the experience is enjoyable, baristas are well trained and friendly, specialty drinks are overpowering and thus rarely what I order (the Black Velvet essentially mainlines caffeine through your system and makes you far, far too aware to call yourself a New Mexican), and this particular location -- by the University, usually packed with students and comfortably furnished -- is easily my favorite in town, even if the crowd always immediately makes me mindful of how old I've grown, er, how insanely young I was in college. There was a time, not so long ago, when Satellite was one of the only good local cafe options across the city, but oh, how our scene has delightfully changed. Make no mistake about it, if you're looking for a place for coffee talk, this place is terrific, and the coffee -- while pretty one-dimensional -- is fresh product. Our current urban coffee palate has become darn uppity, lately, and nuance runs the table. That's where Satellite falls flat for me and it's the number one reason I now strictly order tea at the counter. They offer a really interesting Mate hybrid, usually a couple green options and another, oh, probably 10-15 delicious varietals. Another appreciation: the pour-your-own honey and sugar sweeteners at the coffee bar, add half a shot to your cuppa tea for just a lil' sumpin' to balance out the bitter. Oh, and a Graburrito in the morning -- go with the red chile -- will absolutely do you through lunch. read more

Yum! Came with a friend for dinner.. Didnt get to try the drinks but had a fritata and Korean tacos. Both were very good, although the tortillas tasted like processed grocery store ones. Also ordered pineapple upside down cake which a was delicious.. But overpriced (7dollars!?!) Five stars if they can manage homemade tortillas and more affordable desserts. read more

The place has a very funky vibe and decor. (Reminds me of Telegraph Ave in Berkeley). The food is supplied from the Flying Star and is okay when reheated. The Turkish & Mexican Lattes were very good and I wish there was something offered like them in the East Bay. The reason for only 3 star is due to not really being able to sit and eat in very easily. It is a small establishment and most of the tables are taken up by college students on laptops. We were stuck using a table that were below are knees and ended up balancing the plate on the arms of our chair. (We both ended up not wearing any of our burritos and were happy.) read more

i am not afraid to admit that i am as hipster as it gets with coffee. i prefer my coffee single source, fair trade, freshly roasted, bird friendly coffee, but if it's not, then i just want it to be delicious. satellite coffee delivers, and it's strong, to boot. i had their mexican coffee in the afternoon, and that single cup got me more wired than a red bull. you were forewarned! i also very, very much appreciated that you could ask for almond or soy milk at no extra cost.their pink drink (red stuff aka cranberry juice and "herbal teas" plus lemonade) was also really good, but borderline sweet. i've only been here twice, but i plan to come back so, so much more. this is the perfect cafe to come in and do work - relatively quiet environment, patio seating, plugs at almost every table, free wifi - all for the price of a cup of coffee. they also have a pretty solid selection of vegetarian options for food. though they serve breakfast and lunch all day, it's a first-come-first-served type of thing - if they run out, they run out. i was kind of bummed to find out that all of their food is cold, and they heat it up when you order it, but was slightly reassured to find out their food was made from flying star. i loved both the avocado and havarti melt and the eastern veggie sandwiches. finally, they have lots of pre-packaged as well as pack-as-much-as-you-want coffees and tumblers available for purchase. if you want delicious coffee, you can't go wrong with buying your beans from here. read more

As a barista (on the specialty coffee side), I have a hard time giving places like Satellite a fair chance. I have high expectations of my coffee drinks, especially when I know that for the same price, somebody else has got to be making espresso drinks correctly. As far as I can tell, Satellite is Albuquerque's version of Starbucks, offering similar furniture, coffee presentation (everything in a dang to-go cup) and poorly made drinks. They earn 3 stars because they have free wifi and friendly staff, and because as I was passing thru, their space was a lot cozier than the inside of my van. I suppose if you don't care about having a properly made drink or you have no idea what such a thing is, you might love Satellite, but I was definitely disappointed as a so called "coffee snob". read more

This coffeehouse is so comfortable and just a great place to hang out. I went here on a ditch day of mine and it was very very welcoming. The Mexican lattes (both hot and iced) are delicious and I am particularly fond of the sea salt caramel blondies. Definitely recommend, can be a little pricey but the quality is worth it! read more

I've been coming here several times a week for years, and it's probably my favorite coffee shop in ABQ. Baristas are great, the blonde in the evenings is always fantastic! Nice seating, coffee is good, great selection of tea, the blueberry muffins are to die for! Evenings are usually busy (especially during the school year), days are relatively quiet. Only issue really isn't the fault of Satellite...but about five times now I've been approached while inside, sitting at a table, by very insistent homeless asking for money. Baristas are usually quick to ask them to leave, but it can be uncomfortable, and I've seen it happen on more than one occasion to other patrons. read more

I absolutely love this coffee shop. It's a great environment with comfortable places to sit and read a book, or do homework. The staff has always been extremely friendly and makes sure your drink is the way you like it (which is really important in my book). The only thing I wish is that they had more parking for a longer amount of time. FYI if you go during the day and stay a couple min over the parking time, you will most likely get a ticket. Other than that, I have bad to say about this place. 5 stars in my book. read more
