This is probably one of my favorite chicken teriyaki spot in town. I been to many Teriyaki spot but this place always been my go to if I have the chance to be close by and etc for a quick lunch. Right at the food court of South Center mall. There menu is simple and you won't have trouble selecting. I usually just go for their classic chicken teriyaki. It is tasty and big portion!

Got some Chicken Teriyaki today with extra chicken and some chicken egg rolls along with a Regular Sprite. The Chicken Teriyaki and veggies were a little bland and the egg rolls were so-so. The White Rice was good, though. Wish there was a bit more seasoning to the food. Overall, we liked the food after not visiting a Sarku Japan for a long time. Service was great!

Sarku is the best mall food choice. There are times the food is hit or miss but when it hits its incredible how juicy, tender, and savory the chicken thighs are. I always get half fried rice half noodle and double the meat. It's honestly enough for two people when you get extra chicken haha.

Presentation and appearance could've been better, even if it was food court. Taste was average. Same with speed of delivery. Bento is one of my favorite Japanese style foods.

This place reminds me of my younger days of hanging around the mall, and wanting to get something affordable enough to eat that will satisfy and fulfill me. They usually have deals on the chicken teriyaki plate. The place can get pretty busy. I don't come often anymore, but sometimes a simple teriyaki plate sounds good. Sometimes I get it with the noodles. And I always make sure to ask for extra teriyaki sauce.

Rice with plain vegetables

Not very accommodating for customers with special requests. I asked for more vegetable and less meat for the same price. Denied request. So i ordered rice with vegetable. The guy behind the counter literally slapped rice with pre-made vegetables. No sauce, nothing. Will avoid this place like the plague.

Meats and veggies are grilled fresh in front of you. Rice is pre cooked in the back. Prices are reasonable. Food is good. I added the spicy Sriracha sauce packets they have. Location is inside of the Westfield Southcenter Mall. I'll be back next time I'm in Seattle.

Fast hot food. The customer service could use some work, no one really speaks to you except to get your order. It may be just my expectations because I'm from the south. It's in a mall so it's loud and a bit chaotic but overall the food is good which is the most important thing.

The famous teriyaki chicken.

It's really a rare moment where I am the one raising the stars and going against the popular vote on a place, but here I am giving 4 stars to the current 3 star rating. This is primarily based on their "World Famous Chicken" while it is quite tender, hot, and juicy, that "World Famous" is a bit of overmarketing, but hey, I'm still down for it. Why? Because it is always hot and juicy, always consistent. I don't do the rice, I always add noodles for .60 extra. It is truly the perfect lunch meal and value for $9.32 total. People who complain about the service? Lol. This is a high volume, high demand place, where there is always a line. They need to move you through so they can get to everyone. Personally, I hate it when there is a line and every person in front of me is talking to the cashier, doing the how is your day bs. Get the order, pay, get out! We're not here for fine dining! I want my food hot, tasty, and fast! I take quality/speed of product over "Hi how is your day going?" ANYDAY!!! People who complain about the no nonsense cashier attitude......smh. Also, this meal is perfect for after huge workouts, tons of protein and carb. I don't visit enough mainly because it seems a hassle to go into the mall, then into the food court for this, but it really is worth it. Great chicken, great value. Get the noodles!

Went to grab a bite before a movie and found it dark with a temporary closed sign. One of my only stops at the food court.

The food was greasy, and they didn't even give me a bag for it, saying I had to pay for it.

Meat is good but the price used to be lower and there was more meat. Also, they need to put back the sauces at the counter.

They charge you for extra chicken and then give you the same amount of chicken for a single order.

We got a table almost immediately, as we did get there relatively early around 11:30 AM. The place was already somewhat busy, but there were a number of available tables. We all picked a different sushi roll, I chose the Miyabi roll, which was very good. Our service and server was very good, guided us through the menu as best as she could. All in all it was a great lunch, with a nice active lunch scene and busy vibe. Thank you

Started off strong with the uni shot, which was really good, and the sashimi fresh, clean, and exactly what you want from a sushi spot. We also ordered the mushroom and pumpkin salad with spinach, which tasted great, but at $20, it felt a bit overpriced for what it was. The rolls, unfortunately, didn't live up to how they looked. Presentation was definitely there, but the flavor just didn't hit. On top of that, they were falling apart pretty easily when picked up with chopsticks, which made them a little frustrating to eat. Service was solid overall staff was attentive despite how busy it was but they did miss our hamachi kama, which was a bit of a letdown. A couple things to note: this place is cash only, and it gets very busy, so expect a bit of a wait. That said, the vibe is nice, and the design of the space is something I actually liked. Would I come back? Probably for sashimi and appetizers but I might skip the rolls next time.

Overall: 8.5/10…read more Food: 8/10 I got the #5 Creamy Broth which was a creamy chicken broth topped with juicy pork chashu and a flavorful seasoned egg topped with free self serve tempura flakes, green onion, and ginger. I asked for a spice ball for the soup on the side. The soup was rich and creamy as the name suggested. The pork chashu was average at best. It lacked flavor and color. The noodles were thick and al dente and absorbed the broth very well. I would not recommend mixing the tempura flakes into the broth as it makes them soggy and they no longer have the crunchy texture to contrast the noodles. For tempura I got a steamed egg tempura, shrimp tempura, and potato tempura. The egg tempura definitely reined supreme. Would heavily recommend a tempura sauce which they happened to run out with today. The vegetable tempuras were all bland. Would not recommend. If you do get the tempuras, eat them before the main dish so the richness of the main dish doesn't ruin the delicate flavor of the tempura. Atmosphere: 9/10 Tables were cleaned and bussed regularly. There were plenty of tables where we didn't really have to wait after getting our food. The tables were kinda close to each other and the restaurant was packed on a Saturday night at 7 pm. It was very loud and we could not hear the music in the background and had to speak up when talking to each other. Service: 9/10 Self service similar to chipotle where you order at the counter and they make it in front of you and all the individual components of each dish are premade. Unlike chipotle, once they give you the main dish in a tray, there is a self serve Tempura bar where you pay by piece.

After tax and tip it came to $25.82. ( I almost always tip 20%). Seems like a lot, right? but this is the Seattle area. AND...the portion was so hefty I put it on my kitchen scale. 1 lb. 14.8 oz. That's almost TWO POUNDS. I was going to split it between two meals, but it was so good I ate the whole thing. Just the right amount of char and smoky flavor on the chicken. Moist and tender. The yakisoba was great. Some of the veggies were a little on the soft side but much of it was crisp and fresh tasting. It's easy to make teriyaki too sweet or too salty. This was just right. The yakisoba also had the right amount of seasoning without needing any extra soy sauce. Yamada Teriyaki is a no frills type of space inside a no frills convenience store (Mandalay Mini Mart), next to Wells Fargo Bank. I'm sure it's a godsend for nearby office workers during the week, and I suspect they do a killer lunch and takeout business. When I visited about 530pm on a Friday, it was pretty slow. While the entrance was crowded, more than half of the tables inside were actually empty. The staff seemed overwhelmed and very busy. We were encouraged to use the self-service kiosks, but the scanners kept giving us an error when we tried to use our coupon barcodes. We eventually had to go to the counter to place our takeout order. We waited about 25 minutes for our food: two Charburgers with cheese, onion rings, and the tempura green beans. Honestly? The burgers were just "okay"--nothing special enough to justify the long wait. The highlight of the meal was definitely the tempura green beans, which were delicious. The location seems significantly understaffed. Most of the empty tables were messy and hadn't been cleared yet. It's an alright spot if you aren't in a rush, but don't expect a quick or particularly clean experience during the dinner rush.
