Teriyaki chicken bowl and bento bowl. Both 10/10.
Erica M.

Located inside Valley Fair Mall, food is always made to order. Their veggies still have a good crunch and the chicken is grilled nicely! Decent prices and definitely fulfilling. My go to when at this mall shopping.

I should try chicken teriyaki instead because the beef teriyaki was a bit mid. Food was oily

The foodcourt can be overwhelming with all the different options, yet Sarku Japan always hits the spot. You will encounter somewhat of a long line, but it moves fast and I take it as an indicator that you made the right choice. It is difficult to find another place with the same portions, price, and quality.

Yummy Teriyaki! I stopped by Sarku Japan while I was at Westfield mall. They are located in the food court on the second floor. Didn't really know what to eat that's a slam dunk, so I thought I'd tried chicken Teriyaki as it's one of my favorite dishes to eat. And wow, I hit a jackpot! This chicken Teriyaki was so flavorful and tender that I wanted to get another one to take home. The chicken was cut in little pieces, that I like, as it makes it easier to chew and eat. But one of the best parts is Sarku Japan is not stingy when it comes to serving size so the price is a good value! I will definitely return again because of the yummy chicken and the generous serving! The only negative part is I live in the east bay! But will definitely return again whenever I'm in San Jose!

Here is my two cents on the quality quantity in price of my order.... It was delivered by GrubHub in a timely manner... thank you GrubHub... This is the first time me eating. Sarku Japan... they were offering buy one get one free of teriyaki chicken.. plus I also bought two egg rolls .. The egg rolls were satisfactory, but they are only medium hot, not very hot temperature wise.. I also requested extra chicken and they gave me lots of extra chicken. I was impressed... they also gave me without asking soy sauce, but I also asked for hot sauce in which they complied... I also requested fried rice... I thought the fried rice was a little bit on the west side but as far as flavor goes, it was very good! For the price, including delivery I thought it was an excellent mail and you definitely should try it....

This is good if you're craving a quick over rice meal. The flavor is okay but better if you add sriracha. Sometimes the line can be long but they're pretty dialed in on efficiency.

I get this often when I want a quick lunch break during shopping. It's a decent quick meal. They make the food on a grill and have most of it ready. Only time you have to really wait is during the lunch and dinner rush. The go to dish is teriyaki chicken. I tried the others (shrimp and beef) it wasn't that good. You can swap rice for noodle (+0.80) which I always do. I also recommend getting extra sauce. Just ask for it at the end. The downside is that the veggies are always soggy as it's frozen veggies. It's not the best but a decent quick and affordable meal.

I order chicken teriyaki once in a while. I either get with fried rice or noodles. It is located in a mall. I usually order with ride share. If you are in Westfield mall try. I really like it.

Sarku Japan has been a go to comfort food since elementary school, one of my fav mall food places for sure. I remember when they used to do the samples of teryaki chicken on a mini uncooked pasta . This place gives so much nostalgia. I recommend the noodles option over the rice. What I love about this is how simple this dish is and you can get your source of protein, carb and veggie in one dish. The food still is banging and its still super affordable. It is a plus that it can be eaten in 2 meals unless you're a big eater! The service is super quick. Would be back for a quick easy cheap meal.

Terrible customer service

I came here today trying to pick up my order and was asking the lady how long it would take to see if we had time to get drinks and jay working the register started yelling at us and saying how he already told us it wasn't ready and it wasn't gonna be ready until a little bit we never heard him say it the first time and he came off really aggressive when he didn't need to be luckily the lady was nice enough but overall just a rude experience from him

When it comes to mall food court places, Sarku is always my go to and it hits every time! I always order their popular chicken teriyaki and it definitely fills you up. Love the portion size, affordable prices, and how your meal is cooked to order. Chicken is cooked perfectly and you can witness the cooking as you wait for your order to be ready as well.

My favorite place in the food court mall to get a quick bite to eat. My go to is the bento box with beef. I like that all the food is made to order so you know it's always fresh and not just sitting there. Minus one star because the noodles are quite greasy.

By far THE BEST Sarku Japan location when it comes to quality and taste!! Believe me, i've pretty much had it all and NOTHING COMPARES. If you don't want to take my word for it, the continuous long lines should speak volumes. Portions are big, granted we always order 2 types of protein vs the typically 1. I always make it a habit of paying a bit more to substitute the typical steamed white rice for fried rice or noodles. Food is always delivered piping hot, cooked on the spot, & although the veggies may be extremely over cooked in my eyes but they are always fresh. Be advised that the veggies are legit strictly steamed with absolutely no seasonings not even a sprinkling of salt!! 4 stars. This is probably 1 out of 2 regular eateries I religiously return to @ VF's food court. The cost is reasonable factoring in the amount given & food tastes good- what's not to like??

The orange miso salmon appetizer is the bomb. I could just drink the sauce. I've been to other sushi restaurants that try to copy it and it is not the same. Their crispy sushi rice is awesome too. Their sushi and sashimi are all fresh, sliced thick and delicious. Melt in your mouth good. You'll be in the sushi roll heaven. There are so many rolls to choose from with different ingredients inside and outside. You can tell their sushi roll menu is well-thought through to accommodate different tastes and food preferences. Their sushi rolls not only delicious, they are unique and also elegant. This restaurant has the most sushi roll choices I've seen. It's easy to accommodate different people's taste buds. We ordered the Orange Ball, Sunrise roll, OE and Spider rolls. Their flavors are delicious and very flavorful. The OE roll has no rice and perfect to low-carb diet. They are all pretty to look at too. Their bento box is very flexible that you can choose 1 main protein and 2 side items in your bento box with many different options to choose from. It's super customizable. This place is tucked in a little strip mall, the Woodham Plaza. The place is clean and the ambience is nice. It's pretty spacious and don't feel cramp. They also have a little nice area with a bench to sit down while you're waiting for a table. There is a free parking lot and it's not too big. If you come during peak hours, you may need to park on the street.

The food was decent overall, and the aroma when everything came out was really nice. The restaurant itself is very clean and has a good atmosphere, but it is a bit on the pricier side. We ordered the Caterpillar, Alaska, Erika 54, and Big Daddy rolls. Out of everything, I liked the Alaska roll the most, it tasted fresh and the crab was really good. The other rolls were okay, nothing bad, just not super memorable. Overall, it was an okay experience, just not as amazing as I expected based on the ratings. Overall, I'd give it a 3.5/5.

Food: Salted Saba bento 3/5…read moreThis is a pretty straightforward bento. I wasn't too big of a fan of the gyoza so I'd recommend replacing it with tempura when you order. The gyoza is fried well but the fillings is mushy. Miso soup and salad comes with the bento. The Saba was dry but the portion of fish they gave is pretty generous! Service: Service is friendly but slow. This could have been because I came with a large party though so that could have affected the service times. They did end up forgetting some orders at the table but since there was only one server at the time, handling the entire restaurant, it's understandable. Ambiance: Pretty cozy. Called in togo order for last minute dinner guests. 2 bentos, 3 rolls. Sat at sushi counter waiting for order to be completed. Upon sitting received angry glare from the grill cook who had the demeanor of a WWE Wrestler. There are 2 cooks, one does sushi wearing gloves. The other is a line cook manning the grill. The wrestler. He is unsanitary. Doesn't glove and doesn't wash hands. Handles raw meat with bare hands then without washing goes to prep bentos transferring bacteria to the serving dishes while plating. Waited for 15m. The rolls were done and one bento was done. Heard a discussion between the cashier and wrestler about there were 2 ribeye bentos and he gave one to me. The wrestler got visibly angry and rescinded the order. He could have cooked one up in 3-5m. He declined and refused to do anything. Make people wait. He went to the back out of view; I assume to a toilet break. I asked for a refund so I could leave. No response. 20m later he appears from the back and has another discussion with the cashier. Now it is clear I am being punished for existing and sitting at the sushi counter waiting for an order to be prepared. . Pretty sure there was a load of feces and and E Coli being transferred to my to go order as an additional punishment. Saw a low grade piece of meat being dropped onto the grill. Never seen a ribeye like that. Seems like a low quality piece of meat. Sinew and thin with layers of sinew interspersed throughout the slice. I just paid 97$ to these people. Asked for a refund again for the missing item. Was clear it wasn't waiting for food to be prepared. Health risk. Low quality fish. The tuna they use is reformed and food coloring is added to give it the tuna color. stomach ache the next day. mild food poisoning.
