This is a really great sushi option in the south bay! They have a large menu with a lunch special as well. I personally enjoyed the cherry blossom as a salmon lover myself :) Service: Super nice Parking: They have their own plaza but it's limited
Everything seems to close early in San Jose, so the fact that this place is open until midnight is a major plus! There's a lot of people that get DoorDash or food takeout. A couple particular nights my boyfriend and I came here. We are in the midst of moving, so it's an easy dinner for us. Ambience is interesting with a bunch of tables and trees in the middle of the seating area to separate one table from another. There's also some booths along the backside of the wall and lounge/bar area. It was all women's staff the first time we came around 11 PM and they really didn't seem to want to take our order. My boyfriend had to flag down a girl so we could actually order once we were seated, then as he got his chicken teriyaki it was literally grilled chicken with a side of teriyaki. Very odd set up!! He said the meat tasted dry, so he actually had to put lemon on it to give it some flavor and he didn't favor for the teriyaki sauce itself. The three times we've been there, we decided to stick with sushi, and that was all made and prepared properly. I really like the fact they're open so late, but their mannerisms with such a young Staff it was quite alarming. So I would say four stars for the food and being open lovely, but only three stars for the bad service or lack of compassion for their customers.
One of my favorite sushi places to go to. The fish is always fresh and one of my favorite California rolls cause they don't add cucumber in their one . Service is always friendly and pretty quick even on weekends for lunch and dinner. Ambiance is always pretty nice and relaxing in my opinion.
To the chef and owner I did a pick up today the worst ever . Spoke to manager Peter he said he couldn't do anything about it because my food looked exactly like the menu book. what an awful unprofessional way to represent the Chef .

I wasn't a fan of the fact that they entice 5 star reviews with a free appetizer or dessert. Also, they brought the check to us a bit earlier than I preferred-- it made me feel rushed.
This has become one of my favorite spots solely due to the fact that they have spicy tuna crispy rice. It's delicious and I get it every time I come here. It's crispy on the outside, soft rice on the inside, with flavorful spicy tuna and sauce drizzled on top. I highly recommend trying this! They have a great selection of rolls as well as apps. Rolls are well constructed and the fish to rice ratio is just right. The staff are attentive and overall pretty solid sushi spot.
Went on a Saturday late night around 10.30 pm. The restaurant has its own parking lot and one block away from the bustling Santana row area. Got a seat right away. Got the miso soup which was very comforting. Also got a few rolls- spicy lion king- this was a baked one and really yum. The golden spicy was also a cooked roll and was a hit on our table. The shrimp tempura was nothing too crazy- just a basic roll. The crunch mango was very interesting with sweet mango in it. The place wasn't too crowded at that hour but at the same time wasn't too empty. We got a booth to sit.
We had such a great experience at Kenji Sushi The spicy garlic edamame was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were amazing. Everything we ordered was so fresh and flavorful, but the rolls were definitely the star and we loved them so much we had to ask for seconds! Service was great! Great food and great drinks. Definitely recommend giving Kenji Sushi a try!

This is my second time coming to Kenji Sushi, and both visits have been such a delightful experience. It's nice that they are open late so it's a really great spot to visit when you're craving some late night sushi. The sushi is absolutely delicious, we ordered the Crunch Mango Roll, Army Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll, and all three paired really well together. Each roll was flavorful and satisfying. The service has been consistently kind, with staff checking in on us to make sure we were doing okay, which we really appreciated. The ambiance is on the dim side, but it creates a nice, relaxed atmosphere overall.
Not sure why this is only 3.8 Stars on Yelp, but this place is so good! I would definitely come back :) The environment is so nice, very spacious. The service was really quick and we got our orders within 15 minutes of ordering. It might be a little pricy for some, but definitely worth in my opinion
Late night sushi! Right across Santa Row Tried the Cherry Blossom and Mango Crunch rolls and really enjoyed both. The fish tasted fresh, the rice had a great texture (not mushy or dry), and the avocado was perfectly ripe and creamy. Flavors were well balanced and everything tasted clean and high quality. Solid sushi spot I'd definitely order these rolls again!

Kenji Sushi has a slightly upscale feel with its ambiance and overall atmosphere, but the prices were pretty typical for a sushi restaurant, which was a nice surprise! One thing I did notice was that the seating made me feel a little short, haha, but overall, the atmosphere was nice. I was a little skeptical about dining here after seeing the mixed reviews, but our waiter was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. The food was pretty good, and everything came out fresh! We ordered the shishito peppers, takoyaki, chicken katsu entrée, and the nigiri and sashimi combo. Everything was enjoyable, and I appreciated the freshness of the sushi. Overall, it was a good dining experience. If you're looking for a sushi spot with a slightly upscale atmosphere without unusually high prices, Kenji Sushi is worth checking out! read more

I've been coming to Kenji for at least 6 years. Always consistent quality, and quick service. Although they are close to Santana Row, the vibe is more casual. Onsite parking available. Portions are fairly sized for the price. Everything is always made fresh. We didn't get it today, but the Spicy Garlic Edamame is always a hit! read more

I would say Kenji Sushi is a fairly decent place to try out sushi. I have had better sushi at other places for sure. The rolls were well made. They didn't break or anything. The victoria secret roll was decent also. Nothing spectacular. However, for an okay sushi spot, the prices are on the higher side. We got the kenji tempura toll, spicy tuna roll, yellowtail roll and the victoria secret roll. Our friends ordered an assortment of nigiri and Philadelphia roll. They enjoyed their sushi. I liked the chicken karage a lot. It came with mayonnaise. We ordered two of those. The miso soup was very good too. It wasn't watered down at all. It's minutes walk to Santana Row. Try it this spot for sushi and especially their chicken karagge. It's Christmas time so the restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Service could be improved for the area the restaurant's at. Parking is at the location. read more

We have dined here twice and both times I've forgotten to take photos before eating it all ! Service is good. We came here for my daughter's birthday and at the end they brought her an ice cream dessert! We really enjoy the sushi! The first time so we came back with friends the next time, they had salmon plates which they really enjoyed, they were huge portions! Two big pieces of salmon with rice, salad, potstickers and egg roll and a side of sauce . We will definitely be coming back, it's definitely worth the drive and we have enjoyed service and mainly Amazing food . read more
I can't say I am much for Sushi, but Kenji Sushi I have to give you five stars since you had an entire menu page devoted to vegetarian food. I ordered the Veggie Caterpillar Roll with asparagus, tempura, and cucumber. It was really yummy for being veggie and the sauce it came with was excellent. Moderately priced, this restaurant is bustling with tables turning over quickly. It's good to see this place so busy which usually means the food is fresh. The waitstaff was kind and our order came out without a long wait. I couldn't use chop sticks so the waitstaff gave me a fork. I tried my dates food which was real sushi, it was tasty, but I couldn't eat much of it. I did accidentally take a big bit of wasabi sauce which I wasn't prepared for. This is entirely my fault, but if you aren't familiar with the sauces and a sushi newbie beware the green sauce. You don't need much! The only thing I would warn you about is the parking. The lot is small, and the parking goes fast. It's a bit difficult to maneuver out of the restaurant if all the parking is taken, but it is possible to back up if you turn around at the entrance. read more

It was my first time here upon the recommendation of a very trusted and valued friend. She told me this is her favourite sushi restaurant in the Bay Area and she was correct 100%. As other reviewers have stated, the fish here is fresh and on point. The Ankimo here is also delicious and I'm glad it's available. I was asked what my favourite sashimi/nigiri was during lunch. Hmm, I'll say I was particular to the Hamachi. I hope they also have Aji. I'll ask when I return. I also really enjoyed the shishito pepper appetizer since it was simple, yet executed extremely well. Dare I say it, but I prefer the one offered here over another example...in close proximity ;) I've said it before, but it can't be overstated. Memorable meals are about the whole experience, down to the company you keep and who joins you, especially for a first time encounter. I have to return here for another meal. The food at this sushi place was amazing! We ordered a side house salad, lion king roll, OMG Roll, spicy garlic edamame, and temptation and river child drinks! The service was fantastic and they came out very readily with the food, prepped well! I would recommend when you come to space out the orders as it was almost too fast...so you can enjoy the appetizers and the sushi! The decor was amazing and the ambiance set, along with the low playing music in the background made it very cheery, fun, and welcoming! The quality of sushi is great too and the portions are expected for a sushi restaurant. The price is reflective of what is portrayed too on the review pages! :) 10/10 will return again! read more
Been to Kenji Sushi by accident. I can say that whatever you don't expect will give you a fantastic result. Long story short, couldn't find parking lot at Santana Row, so I made a U-turn and saw Kenji on the right side. I was starving at that time, and let's stop. We ordered 4 different items, and all of them were extremely delicious. The sashimi was super fresh, the tartar was amazing, the Mija roll was refreshing, and the gyoza was yum yum. (10/10) The server, a young nice gentleman, was enthusiastic and patient. I like the way he did his job. (9/10) The decoration was mixed between Xmas and some wood decor. I felt comfy enough to enjoy my food. (9/10) Overall, this sushi restaurant need to be shouted out by me, a foodie in Northern California. COME AND VISIT KENJI SUSHI, AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. read more

I was greeted immediately by Jalisa once I stepped into the door and my server sydnie was really sweet and gave me really great sushi rolls recommendations after I had asked. I had started off with the gyoza as appetizers and it came out quick hot and fresh. It taste great and then I had the popcorn scallop roll. It was 10/10 my experience was 10/10. We were looking for something to eat during the Thanksgiving Holiday and were glad to find this place open! They had a wide selection of sushi rolls. The sushi was not bad, but the flavors were a bit too overwhelming for me. I had to eat some pickled ginger to cleanse my palate and reset the taste. Everything we ordered was sooo good! We got the crunch mango roll, crunch tuna, shishito peppers, and Japanese karaage and honestly loved all of it. The rolls were fresh and had the perfect amount of crunch, and the mango added such a good sweet flavor. The karaage was super crispy and juicy, and the shishito peppers were really good too. This was my third time here and each time this place was delicious. If you're wondering why in the world you'd order Brussels sprouts as an appetizer here, believe me when I say they are absolutely amazing. I have yet to try their bentos, we have only ordered rolls and they've all been fresh, and delicious. Service has been good. I wouldn't say it is good for a romantic date night (sports playing on the tv, bright lights blaring and loud patrons) but my husband and I can make anywhere a date night. :) Yes, it is a little bit on the pricier side, but I happen to think it's worth it. read more
Your sign to finally try the restaurant that you've always driven by! We've driven past @kenjisushi_sj so many times going to Valley Fair Mall but just never got the chance to try it until now, and wow have we been missing out! With a bar, fresh sushi and sashimi, and even hot plates from the kitchen, this is the place to go, especially after a long day of shopping Service is super nice and the ambiance is super chill and a great place to hang out! read more
