One of the best Thai restaurants I've been too! All of their sauces and dressings are fresh and delicious! I particularly loved their peanut salad dressing (I could drink that stuff!) The squid ring appetizers were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the outside! The shrimp pad see ew was awesome! Tasted like hard cardboard. rice all stuck together White rice stuck together and beyond overcooked shrimp with basil sauce was water consistency and had zero flavor eggplant with basil adequate at best. tasteless I usually order from another local thai place which is soooo much better. Sarin Thai was a really surprising revelation. The stores is in the downtown area and is well placed for easy access and has ample parking. The staff came out with the beverages and offered the menu. I ordered Tom Kha soup with veggies. It was was a pleasant flavored coconut milk soup. Followed that up with drunken noodles soup, as I wanted to have something different from the normal curries. I asked for medium spicy which was a little less spicy for me, but for first timers, medium should work well. Since I requested it to be extra saucy it had some additional sauce, but overall it was very tasty and can surely see me coming again if in town. read more

I don't usually go to Thai because of a family member with food allergies. But I go when I can because i love thai. In a former life I lived in Metro Detroit, and used to eat thai once a week in Southfield, MI. southfield had some great thai. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce that quality here in NY until I found Sarin. Overall 4 stars Food 4 stars Service 4 stars Atmosphere 4 stars Value 3.5 stars will i be back? Yes! Food food is great. The food is balanced, well spiced, but not overly so. by that I mean that the Thai flavors aren't overpowered by spice. Everything blends together very well. When I do come here, I come for lunch and have ordered many items from the lunch menu. Lunch comes with soup, which is fantastic. haven't tried the salad, though. Service. the place is small, so the servers are attentive without being over bearing. Atmosphere. I'm not that big into atmosphere, I like my food! But for me, one thing I hate is overcrowded tables. Sarin's tables are not that at all. It is well decorated also. Value Portion size is decent. Prices (for lunch) are in the 10-13 range. not bad, but not something *I* can afford daily. This review relates to a visit with two others on Sunday, 7/9/17 (don't worry......I take great notes and know my opinion before I leave the restaurant): Parking can be an issue on Friday and Saturday evenings. Park in the spaces immediately adjacent to the restaurant. If you park in the spaces farther from the restaurant, you are likely to get towed. Upon arrival I noticed that there is no bar, but there gracious owner made me a good Vodka Martini. Although I sought a different Thai beer(Chang) later in the meal, I was content with a cold Singha. Apps were a bummer. The beef in my Beef Satay was extremely tough, an issue that the solid satay sauce could not alleviate. Further, both the Fried Tofu and Spring Rolls (in small portions) were bland and had poor "mouth feel". By contrast, the mains here rock, primarily because of great curry sauces. I had the Penang Duck Curry. The Penang Curry was beautifully balanced and seasoned, one of the best curries I've ever tasted.My fellow diners enjoyed their Shrimp Massaman Curry and Mixed Seafood Curry equally. The apps drag down the rating , but I would definitely return to enjoy the outstanding curries here. read more

We ordered appetizers, fish, curry, pad thai, fried rice, and so I'd say we tried a good range of their menu. Red curry was just right. Fried rice lacked vegetables and flavor. Was VERY plain, but I think that may have been intentional since the waitress knew we had to toddlers. Snapper was steamed and just right, tasted very fresh. The place was good for families, for kids. You could get loud in there without issues. High, spacious ceilings, and nice artwork. I watched two waitresses work all the tables effortlessly, and very efficiently. Wait on food was quick. Lacking was a je ne sais quoi. I would definitely go back there, but nothing drawing me or terribly memorable. Solid place, and for Thai it's definitely among the best nearby. Don't expect to be blown away. 3.5 stars Sarin is an interesting place. The majority of their dishes are pretty plain and nothing worth talking about on here. But there are a few dishes which shine, but in unexpected ways. I wouldn't bother with any of the curries or most of the standard staples that one relies on when going to an unknown Thai place. They don't stand out in any way, The appetizers are also pretty mediocre, for example the dumplings are slight, and leave you wanting more. Here are the two dishes that I find to be good. Crispy duck Pad Thai, decent pad thai served with a generous amount of hot crispy duck. The texture contrast alone makes this dish worth checking out. And the surprising dish that I really like, possibly because of its simplicity, is the soup that accompanies the lunch entrees. Its a clear chicken broth soup with small pieces of white chicken and a bit of white rice. The simpleness of the broth and the depth of flavor are what really do it for me. If you order lunch and they ask if you would like the soup or the salad, do yourself a favor and get the soup. I go here fairly regularly because it is convenient for a work lunch. And after trying out a few of the dishes, I have settles on the two mentioned above, and I am never disappointed. read more

Stopped by for lunch a few days back when we were on the island. We were initially drawn in by the 4 star review and I can certainly see why they got that rating. The place has a nice fresh look, the prices are really cheap ($8 for a lunch special), and the staff is very good at what they do. For me though, the biggest let down was the food. I got the feeling this was more of an Americanized Chinese-Thai hybrid than really authentic Thai food. I got the Pad Kae Mao (chili and basil) noodles with pork, and that came with chicken soup and rice.The soup was watered down and flat, without an inkling of Thai seasonings. No fish sauce, no lemongrass, no kaffir lime. Nothing. Just bland under salted broth and boiled to death chicken pieces. It was horrendous. As for the noodles, they were served hot and fresh, with heaps of chili peppers, so it was a good eat. But there was no depth of flavor at all. I didn't even taste the basil. Good to fill your stomach, not so great for the palate. I probably wouldn't go back to Sarin, but if your standards arent so high and you just want some hot filling food, this place could be worth a visit. read more

I would give this restaurant 3.5 stars. I decided to invite my mom here for dinner, this was her first time trying Thai food. It was close to home, so very convenient. I've had Thai food time and time again and can just say I wasn't amazed. The food was good don't get me wrong but I wasn't hooked. The Thai Iced Tea there was amazing, I was happy when my mothers eyes lit up upon her first try. The drunken noodles were yummy but again I almost feel like you can't really go wrong with this dish. My mother ordered the Pad Cashew Nut with beef. I thought it was okay, was good but once again no lit up eyes there. For dessert we ordered the lychee. I think 5 bucks for 5 lychees that taste like you could have bought them from a jar/can not worth it. I have to be honest :P Overall this restaurant has lovely decorations, nice interior design. Best Thai food in the area. The room is very sterile and generic, but it gets the job done. There are not a lot of tables and they are spaced out nicely. We keep booking reservations to go but that seems unnecessary. Every time we have been they accommodated many walk ins with no problem. They seem to keep a steady take out business going, which probably off sets the low table count. Service is sufficient. They are very friendly and polit and pretty attentive. Though they are not very polished, but that is fine. It is a very casual restaurant. They have many great dishes. Don't think we've had many that we didn't like. Some of our favorites include me crob, calamari, dumplings, Bangkok duck, Siam noodles, Rama chicken, and many others I don't recall.
