Years ago a…read morewater heater located within the wall of that room's closet had leaked and caused the floor to bow. Unfortunately two (or was it three?) rounds of handymen had failed to fix it. Two years ago I had the house renovated and had given specific instructions for the people to straighten and repair the floor in there before laying down the new stuff. They did not. I was surprised that Moon's said they'd have to take out a large strip of floor tiles or whatever they're called when they're vinyl, even though the dip was about six square feet, but okay. The strips have grooves in the sides that can't just be ripped out and replaced. Then it turned out they had to redo the entire room! But whew, that explained the estimate they'd given me. Instead of hair-raising, it now sounded quite fair. I found a box of leftover planks and prepared for them. They helped me move out the remaining large stuff that I hadn't counted on having to be removed. When they got through the usable planks, we discovered the box o' planks was for the attached studio and not the room and didn't match, so a second crew had to come back with a new supply of planks for the entire room, since they'd been unable to match or even come close to what I'd had. Same estimate; okay. Well, they didn't order QUITE enough, but the third crew and a new box were able to finish the job! The room is GORGEOUS. The planks they chose are alike enough to the rest of the house that if you aren't looking for it, you don't notice the difference. They replaced the quarter-round with matching oak quarter-round instead of the white stuff that had been there before. Classy! The floor is now SMOOOOOOTH, no dip. I am so satisfied! People on phone site were friendly and helpful, plenty of stones to choose from in a variety of patterns and colors. There was some confusion over whether an item marked "sold" actually was (spoiler alert: it wasn't) so make sure to ask if you like a particular one even if it's marked (especially given the stone deliveries come infrequently). Brian and the installer crew were punctual, friendly, careful and meticulous (as was the initial measurement and selection of stone sections for the parts of the kitchen for best effect). Clearly these guys knew what they were doing, and it showed. That said we are a detail-oriented house and noticed (over time) some small issues (a small seam that needed some revision as well as a stain left by a silicone drain mat (advice: don't use them if you have white stone)). Suffice to say Brian returned three times, listened, was friendly and made the needed changes. The company really stands behind their work which is both rare and very appreciated. Our sincere thanks to Brian and the team at BU--we are very happy with our countertops and backsplashes and have received many positive comments on both the materials and workmanship. We highly recommend them for your countertop needs.

Chief pointed out several deficiencies and made several relatively minor repairs that fixed the problems. I needed a new roof on my own residence and quotes from a couple of highly rated companies. Chief Roofing gave me a good price. It's winter, and it took a while for the shingles to come in and for there to be time to do the job. This week they did the whole roof in two days. I'm very happy, with one exception--in one of my gutters I found a lot of debris that they overlooked when they were cleaning up. It's a great roof!

I hired Aluminum Company of NC do replace all my windows and entry doors -- a project that was LONG…read moreoverdue. I'd done a lot of research into replacement windows -- what to ask when interviewing companies, what a quality installation looks like, which windows are the best quality. I'd been saving up for eight years for this because I wanted quality -- and it isn't always the name brands you know that are the best. I chose this company for these reasons: 1) Reputation. The company has been around since 1961 so they aren't going anywhere. 2) I researched the brand and type of window they install to verify quality and these were recommended by more than one person. 3) I asked about the install itself -- who measures, to what detail do they measure, type of caulk, how they insulate. And they never once treated me like "the clueless little woman." The rep respected that I did this due diligence and even gave me MORE information about their installation process, which I double checked, and yes, it is above and beyond. 4) The payment plan was simply unbeatable. 5) They gave me a DETAILED quote AND personal references. Other companies I spoke with did not. Communication was impeccable. It was a wait of a few months, but they kept in touch. Installation took only 3 days for 19 windows and 4 entry doors. These guys work FAST, without sacrificing attention to detail. When we had a mishap with one of my cats escaping the "safe space" they worked with me until I could corral him into another safe space. The crew chief, Chris Riley, is personable and managed the job well. The work site was left CLEAN. The full screens I asked for were installed later, and they're great. I had many windows that hadn't been opened for years because of being painted shut, nor had they been cleaned well. Now I can clean my own windows, the draftiness is gone and I am comfortable because that this company stands by its work. I am an anxious person. This was the biggest job I've ever had done where I didn't already know the person doing the work. They dealt with my anxiety beautifully and kindly. I have already recommended this company to others and will continue to do so.

My initial contact with them, and all subsequent interactions, was friendly and comfortably professional. We changed our approach to our flooring requirements a few times and they were easy with our changes, helpful with offering options, and quick to turn a new estimate for their proposed. In the end I asked them to come out for an installation that we hadn't actually nailed down price wise. I just felt comfortable that enough was understood, I expected no surprises and there weren't any. The crew showed up at 8:30 in the morning, removed carpeting, moved furniture, laid the flooring and did some extra work for us,,,,and they wrapped it all up by 4:30 the same day. No muss, no fuss. Great work, hard workers, easy to trust each of them in our home, fully cleaned up when they left. I strongly recommend them (and I'm not related to any of them,,,,they earned a strong recommendation). I wish there were more crews out there as good as these guys.

While Barrow Building's issues should not be conflated with Neuse Tile, we did have several issues with NT. First, their quotes seemed inflated compared to industry standards. They did back off of some high quotes when challenged by us. The biggest issue was that they laid mismatched tile (different color shades) in multiple bathrooms and then covered the floors with paper making discovering the error only possible toward the end of the project. The mismatches were obvious and should not have occurred. To NT's credit, they did re-lay the tile at the contractor's expense, but it did create an unnecessary delay in the project completion,

The estimator took a lot of time with us asking about all the details-- there's much more involved in a tile project than we ever knew! And the installers were careful with our home and very gracious to be sure everything was installed just as we had planned. Even the man who delivered the materials was incredibly friendly and helpful. Overall, we're delighted with our new bathroom, and we know that Neuse Tile will be there to stand behind it.
