Best hole in a wall Vietnamese seafood restaurant. Their crawfish sauce is really flavorful but yet not salty at all. Crawfish tasted really fresh and the corn was really sweet. Definitely check this place out! Stopped by this place for the first time and loved it! The food is awesome and everyone that runs it is really nice. This place is pretty bomb-digity. Their crawfish is legit and fresh! The sauce is perfect...garlicky, spicy, and not too buttery. It was about $25 for two pounds. I also ordered the escargot snails in coconut sauce and it was excellent. They have a huge menu selection and there's something for everyone, seafood and non seafood lovers. They even have burners on their table tops if you want to eat Lau. The free desert at the end is a nice touch. Service was super friendly, friendliest I've ever witnessed in a Vietnamese restaurant. I came here for the first time and loved it a lot. We ordered crawfish and shrimp, goi muc, ngheu Hap Thai, oc mong Chan xao rau muong, com chien ca man, com Bo Luc lac. The crawfish was really big and fresh. It was so flavorful and garlicky. The goi muc is also really good. The clams are so fresh and big but we weren't impressed of the flavor since we like it to be more sweet and sour. Other dishes were just so so in term of flavor, but again the quality and freshness are the best. I really enjoyed the crawfish dish though I was really thirsty afterwards, so I guessed it has lot of MSG lol, but it wasn't a big issue for me. We will definitely come back! read more

The workers here are very nice, which was an unexpected but very welcome surprise for a Vietnamese restaurant. The guys running the place were very accommodating, polite, and courteous. The place was decently busy for dinner and they were giving us updates about the status of our table. As for the food, meh. Maybe we got the wrong things, most people had the Cajun crawfish/shrimp but we weren't really in the mood for that. Instead we ordered fish sauce wings, squid salad, garlic fries, escargot in coconut milk, and banh canh cua. Squid salad - this was ok, the quality of the squid seemed pretty good but really didn't have much flavor to the whole dish aside from the basil and mint which completely overwhelmed any bite it was in. Garlic fries - standard, nothing special. Would have liked more garlic pieces. Fish sauce wings - this was my favorite dish, good flavor to the sauce, sweet, slightly spicy, and definitely could taste the fish sauce. As a plus, it came out with onions, which went very well in the sauce and with the crispy chicken. Escargot in coconut milk - the sauce is predominantly coconut milk and this made the dish feel quite heavy because the sauce is what makes the dish. Therefore, I can't really fault them for it. Banh canh cua - This was probably my least favorite item we ordered. It was quite bland. The crab flavor was not displayed and just seemed to be lacking something. It was not very satisfying. They gave us a free dessert at the end which I didn't care for. It was very floral and almost tasted too artificial. I almost though that someone sprayed an air freshener in my cup. How did I end up at this restaurant? After all, it's not even on our go to restaurant list. Originally we were going to go to Quan Hy across from Sao Bien, but there was a long line. We looked around and wanted just to grab something quick. There was another restaurant, but it was like buy 1 get 1 50% off , that's a big red flag to not go in. We ain't going into any discount Asian restaurant or any discount restaurant in this day and age with minimum wage in California going up. Then we saw the owner and his kids pushing a shopping cart full of supplies (just outside the restaurant); he said come in, the food is good. They have "bun bo hue" and "band canh" that was supposedly really good. The scene of a father and his kids pushing a cart full of supplies gave me a warm feeling of family style restaurant, so in we went. Now onto the food review. The Pros: Excellent customer service. One of the best customer service you will find at any restaurant in little Saigon. Hopefully they will keep this up. Here's my tip to the owner from someone who dines out everyday, yes everyday unless it's home cooking, which only happens on holidays. 1. Don't advertise your "bun bo hue". It tastes like you use the same soup base as "banh canh" base. It does not taste like "bun Bo hue". Instead call it "bun bo" anything..."bun bo Sao bien" even. Just don't give the customer something to compare to. Add in your own twist. I like to see a little bit more lemongrass taste. This dish needs to be fix pronto! 2. You are in little Saigon, there are restaurants literally on every block. Your serving portions do not look appealing. It's too small! Try experimenting with different types of bowls, etc. It has to look look appealing. The eyes eat first remember. Even if your food is ok, presentation, bigger portion, and outstanding customer service will always bring customers back. A solid 3 stars from me, because of outstanding customer service. Food was ok. I will be back to see if there is improvements in a month. Like I said, outstanding customer service and ok food will bring customers back. Recommend to friends and family? For now, yes. The owner of this restaurant is very effective and efficient on how she provided the customer service. As soon as we put in our orders, they were so fast that the meal are still hot for everyone in the party. When it came to check-out, they were also so fast in checking us out. I have tried many of their different dishes and so far, I love their Ca Kho To and Bun Rieu the most. Their crawfishes are also good too. Their Che is also a good dessert. It was very salty and not good. Even my non viet husband thought it was bad. My son didn't eat his bun rieu. The banh canh was okay but not memorable. Such a great little restaurant with excellent food, warm service, and lots of character. We came here late while the other places in the neighborhood are closing, and accidentally found this place full of diners. Ordered a few things: - clams with lemon grass - simple and flavorful, clams very fresh - shrimp soup with shrimp sauce - sauce has a very strong smell that some might not like, but it was definitely delicious - mango salad - probably one of the most memorable salads I have tasted, it had very bold flavors of dressing and lots of different veggies, very tasty! This review based solely on health & safety issues during this pandemic. It is a huge disappointment to have to write this review since I do like the food here. So why did I give them 1 star (in case you wonder)? Basically, I felt unsafe because... 1) None (zero, nada) of the workers or staff wear masks and they don't care to either. Definitely no social distancing. They placed customers right next to each other, no such thing as 6' apart. 2) Most customers comes in with no masks and walk around the restaurant not wearing one The restaurant do post signs of mask required in front of the stores, but do not care to abide to it. I understand the need to make money, but to put your customers health (and theirs too) & lives at risks during this pandemic is extremely irresponsible. I am not coming back until they comply with the health law. I don't want to be associated with a potential super spreader event here. read more

I ordered the chicken salad and all I got was salad and barely any chicken. The chicken was supposed to be boneless but when I ate them I bit through some bones and it almost cost me a tooth. I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had the chance to. I took my mom with me and she loved most of the dishes as well. The one dish we didnt like was the grilled squid. It came out a little too dry. Other than that, everything else was wonderful. I loved their house special crawfish, it is a different flavor than the cajun crawfish you see at all the other restaurants. They used a lot of garlic and butter in the sauce, it smelled so good! They offer free house tea as well. I have never had anything like that before. It has medium orange color with a slice of orange in there.I couldn't tell what is in there but it tastes great. The service there is exceptional. All the servers were friendly, they quickly sat us down when we came in and were quick to take our orders. I feel that great customer service is essential to any business, especially with restaurants. Surprisingly a lot of Vietnamese restaurants around this area lack that. We came here accidentally because my dad had thought it was a noodles restaurant and didn't realize the owner and concept had change. Our mistake turned out to be a good meal. The restaurant was packed when we got there but the workers were efficient and fast so we got seated quickly. They gave us complimentary nuoc mat for the food we were about to eat which were surprisingly good and well made. We understood by then the restaurant mainly served food to be eaten with alcohol consumption (drunk food) so we order oc len xao and clams as our starter. For the main dishes we got a com tam and a seafood hot pot. Everything was so good. Flavors exploded with every bite and nothing tasted wrong or fishy (since we ordered mainly seafood). Everything was cleaned and fresh and we were happy for eating there. The only reason this place would get 4 stars is because all the food didn't really fill us up and were a bit expensive in comparison to other places in town that sold that type of food. read more
