My sister had a big bash last Sunday at Tram Chim fresh crab restaurant. It was a great venue for parties, it had a stage, nice lighting, big screen like in a theater for slide shows. We had about 30 people, 3 tables. It was not my 1st choice when she called to consult with me, as stated in my previous review, my #1 favorite cuisine is Chinese food AKA Cantonese, not from Fukien, Schezuan, Shanghai, Beijing or worse yet Yunnan but it's her party and it's important for her to have a big stage as she loves to dance and karaoke too, unlike her I cannot dance, skate, ski, roller blade or karaoke, LOL! If it were my party, my #1 concern would be good food with an average stage. She fell down the metro stairs in Paris and has mobility issues but still loves to dance, a real party girl! She is waiting to read my review and expect a 4 or 5 stars review but I promised everybody that my reviews can be taken to the bank, she might slap me down! Just kidding, her next big bash is her husband birthday in December. Ok so let's get to the PROS 1ST THEN THE CONS! PROS: 1) Beautiful interior decoration, nice party setting, big mini Imac theater sound system good for dancing. 2) Ample parking, it's very important as if it were Seafood Cove, good luck, you can circle 5x before finding a parking. 3) Wonderful customer service. 4) Reasonable pricing vs all the cutthroat pricing everywhere else. CONS: I'm a galloping gourmet aka fussy eater so my idea of a party would have to start w good food, authentic Chinese, Tram Chim is a Chinese inspired cuisine essentially an elevated Vietnamese cuisine. 1) The appetizers were good. 2) The lobster was huge but I could not eat much as it was chewy, honestly to be fair, it's just more or less chewy in every restaurant bc they are literally not fresh off the ocean. I went to Alaska twice and the lobster was succulent and tender. I went to a cruise from NYC to Quebec, dining on fresh lobster at every port, all lobsters were tender. It was too dry here, not enough sauce and the noodle was not quite cooked! 3) The crab was huge too, same problem, not enough sauce, it was quite bland so I did not eat much. 4) The soup was too sweet, the fried pineapple rice was OK 5) Fresh fruits rambutan were appreciated by everybody. I brought a tiramisu cake, 2 others friends brought mango cakes, I did not eat much bc I'm fussy! LOL I cannot eat cake with OJ or water! My sister doesn't drink anything except hot water. I took 3 slices of cakes home and made myself an Italian expresso. I was hoping for a sweet and sour fish or fish in ginger, it was only 8 courses so there was no fish. Their preset menu does not have the usual menu like in every Chinese restaurant. I can only rate this restaurant 3 stars bc of many reasons stated above but 1 thing that should be mentoned is it lacked the flambe flavor typical of wok cooking with a big flame licking the food, It can be 4 stars if you consider customer service and nice venue as not every restaurant has a nice stage but I sure did not get fat! reviews should be based on food, everything else is secondary, if you want a party and an elegant setting and ambiance, this is your restaurant. Most Chinese restaurants are extremely noisy lately, people were so loud, I felt deaf in 1 ear after dinner and Seafood Cove was the worst offender, lousy service and it was very stressful, I can't get over why anybody would want to wait 1 hour just to get a table. Last year my sister spent $1,000 for a magician to entertain the guests, this year she had ELVIS PRESLEY IMPERSONATOR! She sure knows how to throw a party. Variety of dishes. My office always chooses Tram Chim when everyone has different crave of seafood, their sea snails are cooked to tenderness. Fresh quality. As you can see, they are not stingy on the portions of seafood. We prefer to buy togo to avoid the crowd. Their grilled squid is one of my favorites dishes! They use cuttlefish, which create a mild crunchiness, Dipping with nuoc mam. Oc mong tay: very clean, stir fried with satee. I love spicy and Tram Chim nailed it. My family came here for dinner and the food was alright for the price. The restaurant was clean and we were seated quickly because there was no wait. We purchased a combination special and the food came out in a timely manner. For the price, the quality of the food was only ok. I've had better and in my opinion for the price the food could be better and the portions could be a little bigger. What turned me off the most was that the service wasn't good. The waitress ignored us many times and we had to ask multiple times for extra bowls and napkins. Water is an extra charge and despite us ordering water bottles they never came out and they still charged us for it. Also be mindful that this restaurant is cash only but also takes Zelle. BARELY ANY MEAT on our bò lúc lác and EVEN LESS SEAFOOD on our mi xào giòn hải sản... Also no free water, $1 water bottles instead. Service is poor. My family speaks fluent Vietnamese and English, but the young workers didn't bother responding to us when we asked for our fourth plate which was obviously forgotten. Instead, they just turned around and walked back to their standing spot and did not bother to even pretend to check in the kitchen... We asked twice and ended up cancelling the last plate after waiting too long. After receiving the check, they finally brought us the plate even though, we already cancelled 5+ minutes prior. Food is decent. It's a good quan nhau if you don't want to go to a typical dark and dingy quan nhau. Family friendly. Their tables are wobbly so don't move around too much. They cram in a bunch of tables so walk ways are nearly non existent. Their menu is huge. Everything is always really fresh and delicious. Decided to try this location again and this time was much better. The restaurant interior was updated since last so tables are much more spaced out and looked nicer and refreshed. Service was surprisingly very good. Dishes we ordered were all decent, some better than others. They forgot the jelly fish on the salad but fixed it pretty quickly. Prices have gone up by a few dollars but thats everywhere. At the end they still provide a big box of fruits and that's always a plus. Many friends and family dined here and so I thought it was a nice local seafood place to try. We walked in and I sensed it was going to be a low star review. Barely 5 tables were occupied at dinner time, there was no ventilation, the tables and chairs were displayed as if it's a banquet room, the floors were STICKY and once sat, the chair covers smelled and felt like they haven't been washed in ages. The chair covers were conveniently black ...maybe to hide any stains?? It's a CASH ONLY joint but will accept Zelle or Venmo. I know many Asian local eateries around here are cash only so I'm used to seeing this. The menu was pretty expansive; it includes clams, razor clams, scallops, fish, shell fish, fish hot pot, finger foods, noodles, salads etc. Razor clams with sate chili oil and garlic. They gave us 5 empty razor clam shells, and maybe 6 pieces of razor clam meat that were ALL OVERCOOKED so of course the texture was more rubbery than the bottom of your tennis shoe. Many tomatoes and bell peppers as fillers to the dish. Next dish: Scallops with butter and garlic. I had high hopes for this dish but Maybe it's bc I compared it to Oc Lau and was expecting the same. Nope- WRONG. The scallops were TINY and also overcooked. They were smaller than my pinky nail. It looked great as a dish bc the scallop shells were 20x the size of the actual meat so once plated, we thought it'd be a honker of a dish. Upon further inspection, and by that I mean once we moved all the scallions and garlic to the side, we found the tiniest scallop meat you can buy. Catfish hotpot with bamboo. They gave me ONLY 3 fish fillets and threw it into a pot of canh Chua, added some bamboo and served it. The pot was 90% vegetables with a piddly side of cat fish. Oh and here's the kicker, they threw us 2 small plastic sauce containers with barely a lick of fish sauce to dip our fish in...I wish I took a picture of this as evidence for this review. Thanks for the two containers of piddly-ness when there were clearly 4 adults eating... We also ordered a salad with shrimp and our bill came out to $110. I cannot recommend this restaurant, I will not be back, and I will never tell my friends and family to dine here. The quality of the food was horrendous, there is no such thing as cleanliness, and I'd rather pay to go to oc lau than step foot on this premises sticky floors. Sorry, not sorry. read more

Agreed with recent reviews about quality of food gone downhill for this location. This used to be my #1 and the only place I came for my ốc len xào dừa every time I visited from out of state. New Year Day dinner was okay. I barely ate my food. Here what we order, $175 worth: -oc len xao dua: way too much sauce dumped over the snails. I don't know when the sauce was made but it wasn't fresh or even half day old because of the color and flavor. -grilled oysters: mediocre. -squid mango salad: no flavor whatsoever. -tamarind chicken wings: chickens were not crispy and there were too much fish sauce in the tamarind. -rau muốn xào tỏi: this was the only good one from our dinned in order. -măng cụt drink was mostly from canned stuff so meh. -passion fruit pitcher: saved the day since there was tons of sugar in it :) -To go: whole crab tamarind and ốc hương mở hàng. Every year I come here with my parents for their salty fried rice, wings (fish sauce), and squid(sate or fried). It is one of the best I've ever had and I say this as a Vietnamese person who grew up eating these types of food my entire life. If you're ever in the area, you should definitely try them! Delicious seafood and quick service. I thought the shellfish was incredibly fresh. Cash preferred, Venmo optional. Had one of the most fantastic dinners I've had in recent memory. We had escargot, fried frog legs, conch slices in spicy satay sauce, crispy rice with pork floss and Chinese sausage (I've never seen crispy rice this massive), and razor clams. The snails and frog were superb. Not even all that we ordered! Better and more affordable than the IG-friendly Oc and Lau restaurant. I think the only thing that was terrible was the calamari because it was dried, but at the same time it was fried, dried squid, so I can't really say anything bad about it because it's just not what I expected. Coconut snails were pretty good, along with razer clams and noodles. I think this restaurant is the goto for a lot of older generation Vietnamese people and I don't blame them. This place hustles!! Tables are long so don't be surprised if you're sharing tables with other people. They take your order and leave the list of what you've ordered at the end of your table. Once each item comes out, they cross it off. You'll get your food within minutes of ordering. The seafood is so fresh and it's so good! The menu is so extensive, it's hard to decide what to order. So many of the same type of clam, but plenty of different styles of how it's cooked to chose from. We had help from the server to chose what were the more popular dishes. We definitely enjoyed this place, but it can get pricey if you come hungry as each dish comes with only 2-6 pieces of each shellfish. read more

We tried several dishes, including the intriguing goat with a house special sauce reminiscent of curry.
