Small restaurant with a large variety of different Vietnamese and seafood dishes. I wanted to come and try their crawfish because I heard good things. It didn't disappoint! Love the seasoning and flavor - lots of garlic with just the right amount of butter. We also ordered the house special clams (love the broth in that dish too), banh canh (Vietnamese udon), and egg rolls. I would probably skip out on the egg rolls next time because they were just okay, but all of the other dishes were delicious. Oh and their strawberry passion fruit drink is so refreshing! My husband and I wanted seafood, looked for clams on Yelp and found good reviews for Sao Bien. Neither of us speak Vietnamese and were a little overwhelmed by the large menu (it's in both Vietnamese and English). Our waiter was very helpful and patient while we decided what to order. We got clams in lemongrass, a shrimp dish and sea snail salad ... All very good, with some left over for tomorrow. The waiter checked back with us several times to see if we needed anything. Excellent food, excellent service. The restaurant is a bit small; we came early, before 7, and it was fairly empty, but filled up quickly. We were in the area and saw their sign on the door advertise as "Vua Bún" (King of Rice Noodles), so we stopped by and figure to try it out. Needless to say we were pretty disappointed on the false advertisement. They have the same type of dishes to select from as the rest of the other restaurants in the area , nothing that would make it stand out as the King of Rice Noodles. The service is friendly but slow as they only have 1 waitress run the entire restaurant . We only saw 3 other tables aside from ours, I feel bad for her if she has to service the full deck . The atmosphere is okay , nothing to stand out that would make me go back for 2nd We ordered the "Canh Tần Ô" with shrimp, there was 2 shrimp cut in half so it makes it look like we have 4 shrimps. They also had very little Tần Ô in the bowl and they were charging $15/bowl. We also ordered "Cá Kho Tộ" which is good , a tad heavy on the Caramelized sauce thus the dish was a tad sweeter than expected but it was not bad. My only complaint is that they also asked if we want white rice with it, I asked the waitress what was I supposed to eat it with ? Almost all of the other restaurant does not charge for white rice that normally comes with this dish . Again, they could just build into the price as this fish always served with white rice . Can anyone confirm if these are worms first. Most of my 5 pound craw fish had worms like really long ones in it almost all of it what I'm going to say is do not eat it if you see like long white strings when you break it open. My mom and brother found worms in almost everything and the employees complained that it wasn't worms. I thought it tasted like Mai Phung but nah it was smell a bit fishy, each bowl came with half a mushroom, 1/4 of the crab body, and 1 (si, un trozo de camaron) shrimp. Long over due review for this place. The crawfish here is bomb, it's soo buttery and savory. The only sketchy thing was that they put the tiny crawfish at the bottom and the big ones on top. Bloody clams are good and never over cooked/dried out the times that I've gone. Clams are nice and fat. All clam dishes are pretty good, can't go wrong. I've only tried the Razor Clam Salad and it was alright. The mango was getting ripe so it wasn't crunchy or sour enough. It wasn't terrible though. If you want lobster call ahead of time because they don't have it in house. They have to get it somewhere else for it to be live lobster. Staff is nice, they're always giving recommendations and helping you see if you ordered enough or too much food! BEST BBH ever! Their saté is super bomb and spicy, I'll add like 3 dollops to satisfy my spice cravings and they also have green Thai chili's you can request. Their ca kho to was unbelievably fresh and I've never had it that fresh at any restaurant. Crawfish was also very flavorful and garlicky. I'm excited to try the bun rieu. Plus, the waiter and owner are both sweet to my mom, and accepted her criticism, so that's cute. We ordered 2 lbs of crawfish, salad w/filet mignon, escargot w/coconut milk and the house special clam. The crawfish was bomb, lots of garlic and they were probably one of the biggest crawfishes I've seen in awhile and brightly colored. A little bit more than half of the crawfishes had eggs in them! Not sure if we ordered it with crawfish sauce in butter tho. The filet mignon salad and clams was guuuud. It's not salty like how most Vietnamese restaurants make it, it's about right. Sao Bien is a small restaurant located in a strip mall. There's no long lines and the place looks unassuming. Don't let this fool you. It is one of the best kept secrets. Once the word is out, there will be a long line out the door. This place is legit. It is so so so good. Steamed clams. Wow! The best clams I have eaten. The clams are huge and fresh. The broth is so amazing. I drank it like soup and I wanted to take the broth home to go. It's so flavorful. Conch. Oc and Lau is good. This is even better. The garlic seasoning is great, but it was the dipping sauce that puts it out of this world. Squid. Amazing. It's kind of like the dried squid that you eat but except it's fresh. Eat it with the chili sauce and pickled carrots. Wow! Squid papaya salad. It's a bit spicy. It's the best papaya or squid salad I've eaten. The way the dish was assembled with the different vegetables and the sauce were perfect. Buttered chicken wings. Wow. It puts the other places to shame. The garlic and butter made a perfect combo. I'm sure it's very high in calories but it tastes so so amazing. Crawfish. I guarantee you will not find this crawfish anyone else in town. I had crawfish in New Orleans, Houston, and all over Bolsa. This crawfish is unique and amazingly delicious. They steamed it and they they stir fried it with butter and garlic. It's so good that you just want to lick all the sauce off the crawfish first and then you tear off the tails to eat the tiny meat. The flavor is so rich and delicious. Lau. Maybe I was already full but I didn't think it was as impressive as the other dishes. I might just skip this next time and try other dishes. Sao Bien means starfish. The chef here is simply amazing. If you're a fan of Vox, Garlic and Chives, or Oc and Lau, you will not be disappointed! The word will eventually get out and there will be a long line. I definitely would come back again and again. Came here with my fiancé and parents for dinner during Tet for dinner and was seated right away. The restaurant is very small and all the tables and chairs are crammed tight together. We ordered cá kho, crawfish, seafood lau, and chicken feet salad which came out in that order. Everything tasted great. However, each dish took FOREVER to come out. We wanted to eat our ca kho with the seafood lau, but they waited for us to finish our crawfish first before bringing out the lau. The order they brought out our food really sucks. Not sure I'd come back here again but I do have to say that their food is really tasty. Probably one of the BEST canh bún (like bún riêu but it's Northern style) I've ever tried was eaten here!!! Was told to check this place out as they are actually really known for their Cajun seafood, so we drove roughly 45mins to get down there from DTLA. And boy was I not disappointed, I was blown away at how great everything tasted. We ordered the canh bún, squid salad, a few pounds of craw-fish and shrimp, razor clam with ong choy (water spinach), and the Vietnamese gumbo. I don't even know where to begin but everything we ordered was amazing, the flavor was strong but not overpowering. The Cajun spice has a good kick but not kicking you in the ass spicy, and the soup from the canh bún was probably the best soup base I had ever tasted. I end up drinking the entire soup (it was literally bowl licking good). Next time I'm back in SoCal, I would totally make a pit-stop back at Sao Bien. I went here for a family dinner and ordered the banh canh. The broth was very flavorful and the noodles were cooked very well. However, the toppings were very lacking - I only had one shrimp and very little crab meat in my soup. The size of the bowl was a little bit on the smaller size, but the prices were fair. I also ordered an iced coffee which was strong and had a good ratio of coffee to condensed milk. The service and cleanliness of this restaurant is above average compared to most of the restaurants in Westminster. It's located in a huge plaza, so parking is relatively easy. I'd give Sao Bien 3.5 stars, but would round up to 4. The food is flavorful, so I definitely would want to try some of the other items. read more

For some odd reason I was craving chicken wings and this place didn't disappoint. The service was actually mostly present for the most part, which is quite a departure from the surrounding establishments. I got 7.5 wings for $8? They were slathered with a fish sauce glaze, which ended up being sweet, slightly salty, garlicky, and buttery without the need for rice. The wings were kinda on the small side, but for 7.5 pieces (one piece was kinda wtf) I would say it wasn't a bad deal. It got to the point where I wanted to bring the excess sauce home but I didn't need the extra saturated fat. They were pretty moist, some pieces were slightly overcooked but I guess that just means less calories if you don't eat it lol The only thing missing was a heat element, so to fix that I dipped the wings (and also drumsticks) in the mysterious black spicy sauce found on the condiment holder. I ended up taking this and the super spicy Thai chili engorged hot sauce home. The guy who works here said they make the sauces from scratch :o I wasn't offered any dessert, but they do carry grapefruit chè, which you don't see too often. If you order it, it's this soupy slimey concoction of grapefruit and mungbean. It's got this awesome floral taste and is chewy from bits of the dried grapefruit. Plus , at least at the flower festival is really yummy. They also carry standard Cajun seafood, alongside Vietnamese drinking food, and the banh canh looks promising. We are furious w this restaurant. We always go here from the time we didn't have our baby until he was 1!! They cheated us with what they charged. We had 5 adults and 2 babies! And they charged us 8 portions of rice and they brought us only 1 small bowl of rice to share and they charged us $10 twice! And then they even charge us 18% tips without telling us and we even tipped another 15% on the table and they're only cash! We will never come back, even if you have the best crawfish in OC. This is not an honest business! They're very pushy with their "special" which is alwyas the same stuff and they charge $1.50 for a water bottle and they refuse to give u tap water. read more

always love coming here for their mam lau and their banh canh tom cua. they are a cash only restaurant so that is one of their downside. They are open for dine in and they also have outdoor seating. They do wear masks when they serve you and the tables are spaced out for social distancing. My grandma loves coming here for their lau mam. read more

This place is great for fresh seafood and amazing service is always a winning combination. They have a really good selection of seafood from clams, snails, shrimp, crab and lobster. Seafood is always fresh and the dishes are delicious. All the servers here work really hard. They keep the food coming and constantly pick up empty dishes. The place was ok. Food was good and tea was good. Service was good until he gave the table next to us desserts but not my table. I felt that my table was treated unfairly. Not sure was it because we only ordered 4 dishes. When the server asked if we wanted to order togo, we said no.
