Steak trompo

Had to go back to try their steak trompo taco. Awesome flavors, good amount of protein and other ingredients. Would definitely order it again, but first I want to try the remainder of the menu.

The tacos were okay and super expensive. The best bite was the carnitas but the asada was below average. The trompo was also just alright.

I had heard so much about Santo Taco and the hype surrounding their Mexico City style tacos, so I had to see what all the hype was about. Luckily, there was no line when I arrived, and I ordered their most popular Trompo Steak Taco, along with the Chicken and Carnitas tacos, to go. Unfortunately, they just didn't live up to the hype for me. I've been to Mexico City, and I'm also a huge taco lover, so I like to think I have a pretty good benchmark for what makes a great taco. Out of the three, the Trompo Steak Taco was definitely the best, but even that one felt underwhelming. The flavors were decent, but nothing stood out or made me want another one. The chicken and carnitas were just okay. Overall, I wouldn't come back, and I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to get them. They weren't terrible, but they were just...mid. With so many amazing taco spots out there, these simply didn't leave an impression on me.

I got the steak trompo, pork carnitas, and tuna tostada (special) and they were fire. I loved them all. The vibes were great and food came out in like 2 min.

It's always wonderful when an ordinary looking little spot turns out to be delicious. This understated eatery is a must try when in the village and wanting prime Mexican food. There are several tables outside on the street and a few at a counter inside. The staff is great and turn out your orders very quickly. The woman who took our order was sweet and gave me a tester of a drink they had on the menu when I inquired if it was good. The drink is called Agua Santa (it's absolutely refreshing) which is a blend of kiwi, cucumber, lime & palo santo. A must try, the guacamole and chips. We ordered the steak trompa taco, tuna tosdado, chicken taco, mushroom taco and one Santa margarita (not for me the person who ordered it enjoyed it). Each taco had its own authentic taste all of the meat was tender and succulent.

I had the steak trompo taco and it's easily one of the better, more authentic steak tacos in NYC. The meat really speaks for itself no need for all the extras. The chicken and pork carnitas tacos are solid too simple, consistent, and enjoyable but the steak trompo is the standout and what I'd come back for. Compared to Los Tacos No.1, I'd say they do a better pork taco overall, but that's about where it ends for me. Santo Taco feels more focused on letting the meat do the work, and it shows. Whenever I'm in the mood for a steak taco Santo taco is my first pick

Carne well done asada taste terrible and dry, wtf!

No line, made me wait, couldn't order inside, asked for avocado sauce on side. No they did not give Me the sauce. Terrible survive this carne taco is over cooked and should be medium rare!!!

These were so good! I didn't know before going here that santo taco is the only place to do a steak trompo. Definitely recommend the trompo as that is what they are known for. I tried the santi's steak trompo, pork carnitas, and a mushroom taco. All were delicious, made to order, and I loved adding some of the spicy smoke sauce, hot sauce and chicharrones to it. The tiny limes were the perfect size for each too! The one that really surprised me was the mushroom taco, I actually enjoyed it more than the pork carnitas. While tacos in NY don't compare to LA tacos (different styles) these were definitely delicious and note worthy. Just not street tacos style if that's what you're looking for.

Was looking for Mexican while in SoHo and saw that Taco Santana was on inkind so decided to check it out. Slightly confused when I first got there as the exterior is of a diner, but don't be confused, you are in the right place. There is no table service, so you need to join the line to place an order. Each order of a taco is only one and they will call out the number for you. We got a selection of the tacos, and would recommend the chicken and steak tromp ones. The guac and chips were also good. There are tables and stools out the front of the restaurant but it's first come, first served. Don't forget to clear your table and trays!

Came on a Saturday shortly before 1 PM and there was no line. Steak trompo and chicken were both amazing. Also tried the carne asada and pork carnitas - both great. Indoor seating was appreciate on the cold winter's day I visited. A great option for reasonably-priced lunch in SoHo! 4.5 stars.

Pit stop before lunch and mind blown! Steak trompo was succulent and exceptional, carnitas were super tender and the surprise hit that I'd come back for was the zucchini taco. The lines can be long but it moves fast. Absolutely try the salsa bar, and believe what they label spicy.

I've had this place saved since they opened so I finally decided to go! There was a popup of Peter Luger steak tacos and the weather was good so I had to go. There was no line and there was a live band! They were also giving away paletas also known as popsicle sticks. I wasn't going to get anything because I don't like chocolate or tajin. So I decided to get the mango tajin and make sure I got rid of all the tajin first lol The vibe was so New Yorker I loved it! The only thing I didn't like was their Peter Luger steak! Not tasty at all! I felt like it didn't even have any seasoning! I def. would go back for their Steak Trompo! It was so savory and delish! I would def. go back and try their rest of their tacos.

Opened in 2025 from the co-founder of Cosme. You order through the window, mostly stools outside, and just five tacos on the menu. We grabbed a couple and my favorite was the Santi's Steak Trompo Taco. Super quick and fresh. Perfect for a very quick bite.

Everyone we interacted with was friendly and fast/efficient. We ordered several carne asada tacos and quesadillas in addition to chips/guac. As always, everything was delicious - there's a reason they're so popular and considered one of if not the best tacos here. Similar type of location and layout as their other spots on the city. It's quick, loud, small, but efficient- quite fitting of NY. Always a good time and good food.

While we were waiting,…read moreyou could hear both locals and visitors talking about how amazing this place is, which only made me more excited to try it for myself. The hype was absolutely worth it. The adobada tacos were hands down the best tacos I've ever had. The homemade corn tortillas were fresh and flavorful, and the adobada was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor. I also tried the carne asada tacos, which were good but definitely overshadowed by the adobada. Each taco came topped with onions, cilantro, guacamole, and salsa. Just a heads-up--the salsa packs some serious heat! Overall, this place completely lived up to the hype. If you're in the area and don't mind waiting in line, it's absolutely worth it.
