Santi's steak tromp & mushroom taco
    Bethanie C.

These were so good! I didn't know before going here that santo taco is the only place to do a steak trompo. Definitely recommend the trompo as that is what they are known for. I tried the santi's steak trompo, pork carnitas, and a mushroom taco. All were delicious, made to order, and I loved adding some of the spicy smoke sauce, hot sauce and chicharrones to it. The tiny limes were the perfect size for each too! The one that really surprised me was the mushroom taco, I actually enjoyed it more than the pork carnitas. While tacos in NY don't compare to LA tacos (different styles) these were definitely delicious and note worthy. Just not street tacos style if that's what you're looking for.

I've had this place saved since they opened so I finally decided to go! There was a popup of Peter Luger steak tacos and the weather was good so I had to go. There was no line and there was a live band! They were also giving away paletas also known as popsicle sticks. I wasn't going to get anything because I don't like chocolate or tajin. So I decided to get the mango tajin and make sure I got rid of all the tajin first lol The vibe was so New Yorker I loved it! The only thing I didn't like was their Peter Luger steak! Not tasty at all! I felt like it didn't even have any seasoning! I def. would go back for their Steak Trompo! It was so savory and delish! I would def. go back and try their rest of their tacos.

Opened in 2025 from the co-founder of Cosme. You order through the window, mostly stools outside, and just five tacos on the menu. We grabbed a couple and my favorite was the Santi's Steak Trompo Taco. Super quick and fresh. Perfect for a very quick bite.

Came on a Saturday shortly before 1 PM and there was no line. Steak trompo and chicken were both amazing. Also tried the carne asada and pork carnitas - both great. Indoor seating was appreciate on the cold winter's day I visited. A great option for reasonably-priced lunch in SoHo! 4.5 stars.

Pit stop before lunch and mind blown! Steak trompo was succulent and exceptional, carnitas were super tender and the surprise hit that I'd come back for was the zucchini taco. The lines can be long but it moves fast. Absolutely try the salsa bar, and believe what they label spicy.

A M A Z I N G !!!!! Los Tacos No. 1 was always the best spot for tacos in the city until I tried Santo Taco. I didn't even know this place existed until my friend enthusiastically insisted that we must try it . And I really thought, "How good could tacos be? It's just tacos." Boy was I so wrong! I only tried the steak tacos and they were amazing. I never had a taco like that. The steak was cut in a way so that it was thin and delicate but yet full of flavor. And usually I don't like corn tortillas, but their freshly made corn tortilla almost had a nice chewy texture and was actually delicious. They also have really great sauces and toppings for your tacos. Their sauces weren't too spicy, which was nice because I was able to enjoy them. They had chicharron as a topping, which was my first time seeing this. They also had a raw onion mixtures to put on your tacos. And I loved their agua fresca drink ($6) - pineapple, cucumber, lime, palo santo). So refreshing and delicious! I wish I lived nearby so that I could have these tacos whenever I want. For those who live nearby, I envy you! So, if you are in the area and you want a snack or a meal, you should definitely check this place out. Things to know before you go: -You order at the counter and then they call your number when your food is ready. Don't forget to get some sauces and toppings for your tacos. It's inside. -It's a very casual setup. There's some barstool seating inside and mostly tables outside if you plan to eat your tacos there.

Very solid taco place, we're finally spoiled with great CDMX taco places in NYC. 5-10 years ago this might have been the best taco place in the city, now it's in the top tier, but not alone. I really liked their tortillas and salsa. Their meats were very well seasoned, though a small-medium serving of meat per taco. A 3 taco lunch was filling but not stuffing. Window order service was super fast and pleasant. Tacos came out in under 5 minutes for a 1230 Saturday lunch. The vibe is that of a clean and efficient in and out taco spot.

Got one of each to try - I did not think I would like the Steak Trompo but it was my fav! Cooked well and interesting texture. Remember to add the pork rind and additional sauce. Also enjoyed the Chicken and Carne Asada. They both have the smoky flavor which we enjoyed it. Pork Carnitas was okay imo not as wowed as others. Mushrooms... Probably is just there because they needed a vegetarian option? Cute spot great location friendly staffs.

New go-to alert! Yes the famous steak trompo tacos are quite expensive at $6.95 each but it's worth it - I've never had such thinly sliced steak in a taco and it's executed so well. Plus chicharron at the sauce bar? How fun. There's also not a lot of places to grab a quick, casual meal when shopping in SoHo so I feel like Santo is perfectly located in such a convenient area.

The tacos here were very tasty. I had two mushroom tacos, which had delicious fresh tortillas and a spicy and savory filling. I loved the salsas and pickled onions to top as well. The tacos are about $5 each, getting to about $11 with taxes. Two is enough for a pretty light meal, but I probably would've wanted another one to make a complete one. I found this to be a bit too expensive.

Really enjoyed their steak taco and carnitas! It was a little expensive per taco, I think about $5-6. I tried two different homemade hot sauces and both were really good. It's a casual spot, not much seating for big groups but do have some bar seating inside and covered outside seating. It's a great location if you're shopping around SoHo and need a quick bite.

First time I went it was great. The second time not so much. The chiccarron was stale. I was looking forward to trying it too as topping with the taco. Also the taco itself was so drenched this time around i had to toss it out after the first bite and just eat the steak on its on. Chicken taco was still great second time around. Will be going back since its in the neighborhood just wish it was as consistent as the first time. Still recommend you to get and eat it right away so there is no soggy. Service is fast and good which is great. Line moves quickly

This location is convenient to Grand Central, Bryant Park, & Times Square. I was excited to find them after a getting off the Metro North. Unfortunately, the two times that I've eaten there hasn't been great, compared to their other locations in NoHo & Union Square. I'm not sure if the more touristy ambiance & customers makes a difference. First visit got the Pork Adobada Taco ($5-ish). It's similar to Al Pastor (even served with a few pieces of pineapple) but spicy. It's pork marinated in an adobo sauce made from dried red chiles (like guajillo or ancho), vinegar, garlic, and spices. The corn tortilla was very fresh & good but the pork was SO spicy. Some kind of chili oil was drizzled on, in, within, at the bottom. It comes with a sort of green crema. I barely finished - thought it was a joke or something. The second visit I got the Adobada (requested Zero spice) & a Chicken taco. The pork meat was delicious & reminded me of the first time I had Los Tacos No. 1. The chicken seemed like dark meat & was either over-marinated, slightly undercooked, or on its way out? resulting in weird mushy, slightly liver-like consistency. I even picked through the pieces to check for pinkness...the meat was just dark with little flavor. It came with a dollop of guacamole that didn't have much flavor. The corn tortillas also seemed slightly mealy/mushy & underdone. They weren't airy & slightly puffed as usual. I'll probably go back because their location and cost is convenient. But have to make sure the pork has No Spice & not sure how to ask for "done" tortillas. There's always a line at Los Tacos but it moves fast. The condiments & radishes, limes are always fresh. The staff is always pleasant & work quickly customizing your taco, wiping down the All White! hightops & refilling napkins. Don't think there's a restroom FYI.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

The birria tacos were really good (or so my son said) but sadly the taquitos were terrible. They literally just had unseasoned shredded chicken (but serves me right for ordering something so basic). I managed to choose the two best-sounding items I could find, and honestly, they were so bland I don't even remember what they were. The setup and decor were basic. This spot could be a fun hangout, but it would take a better menu and staff who actually seem to care. I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall.
