This place will surprise you. Its unassuming appearance in a strip mall and the relatively generic quick-dine area is reminiscent of old generic counter serve burger and fries places. When we pulled up we thought it was closed because it was a little dark inside. But we saw the interesting menu on Yelp and tried anyway. Once inside, we were welcomed by the man behind the counter. We ordered off the big menu on the wall, and were told to choose a table. We both ordered cemitas (shredded sandwiches on ciabatta rolls) with the quinoa salad side instead of fries. (Neither tried the empanadas.) My wife had cicerone and I had the adobo. A nice lady brought out our red plastic trays with tall plates of food. I went to get up for napkins, and was told to sit and relax. The sandwiches were delicious. The pork was obviously slow cooked all day in flavorful pots of goodness. They had about 8 to 10 options of sandwich fillings. And the quinoa salad on the side was outstanding. As the lady was bringing food to another table, I told her the food was great and she said her son is a good cook, and he waved from behind the counter. It's been awhile since I've been here but the food was always consistent. However, I did see that since covid they had to limit their menu. No problem they will make some of my favorites. Staff was nice and pleasant when I was there. Place was clean. They used to carry sweet plantains and aji de gallina (chicken stew in a sandwich). The aji de gallina was very savory. They still make chicharron, fried yuca, and peru poutine. Chicharron is braised then fried pig butt. It's a very tasty sandwich and that parsley mayo just increases the flavor. Meat was very moist and tender. Fried yuca is a must get with your meal. I actually had peru poutine with adobo and that's like a meal on its own. They do have plenty of parking. I'm selling this place short as the food is delicious, but there's really only one thing as a vegetarian that I can eat here: the quinoa burger. The yucca fries are fantastic: super crispy, and my spouse and I believe the yellow cheese/pepper huancaina sauce it comes with is made of delicious. The quinoa burger is very good: the patty holds together beautifully and has good texture (doesn't look or taste much like quinoa, tbh), the sauces (mild but interesting) soak into the ciabatta bread, and even the cheese has great stretch. They offered me salsa this time which was also terrific: a bit spicy, very fine textured. They have chicha morada (clove-flavored purple corn drink) and some other agua fresca (guava flavored?) as well as cans of Inka Kola, which I love even though I see from the label I really shouldn't. In addition to their other non-veg sandwiches, they do empanadas and tamales, neither of them veg. There are a handful of options to choose from; she got the lomo saltado (marinated beef with grilled onions, red peppers and tomato), and chicharron for me (braised pork with sweet potato, salsa and parsley mayo). Outstandingly delicious sandwiches, though quite small with very little meat compared to their American counterparts. All sandwiches come with a choice of fries or salad. Nothing great about either, the fries, just ordinary fries, and the salad (a little more interesting) is like mixed veggies and beans in a light sauce. Also tried some interesting (and yummy) Peruvian drinks, a fountain one made from purple corn, and a canned Inka Cola. Ordered carry out and waited. Staff was friendly and the place was very clean. $32.50 for all that to share between 2. Not a bad price considering the quality of the sandwiches, but the meal was not enough to leave me feeling satisfied. They do have "larger" sandwiches for $2.50 more a piece, which is what I'll opt for the next time. Maybe see if I can upgrade the fries to the fried yuca. I did not see the fried rice that everybody brags about on their menu (though I didn't know to ask because I read the reviews afterwards). I'll have to inquire about that as well. Got the chicharrón sandwich. Delicious! The bread is crisp and the meat is really rich. All of the ingredients are perfectly balanced. The hot sauce is really salty, but they gave it to us on the side so I just put a little bit on. I dream about the Peruvian poutine that you can order with any meat topping and oh my goodness this hits the spot...hard! Definitely recommend sharing the poutine because it's super filling. I've tried a few of the sandwiches as well, but my favorite that I always go back to it the quinoa burger, hands down the best I've ever had. First of all, I have never been to any Peruvian sandwich shop before. So I do not have anything to compare for this review. We arrived there at 1pm on Friday afternoon. Our order: Milanesa w quinoa mini salad (Fried breaded chicken w vegetable and parsley Mayo) Butifarra w hand-cut fries (Grilled pork w salsa, onion relish and parsley mayo) Milanesa chicken sandwich Chicken had a nice crisp, and a nostalgic flavor similar to Tonkatsu. It was made fresh and vegetable and sauce did not make the breaded part soggy. I really liked parsley mayo, which tasted new and balancing everything together. We ordered a large size sandwich, so it might be a little more convenient if they cut it in half right before serving. Butifarra pork sandwich Again, I loved the flavor. I accidentally dropped the last chunk of pork, which made me a little sad. But without the pork, I still enjoyed very much the sour salsa and the sweet onion relish flavor together on the bread. Okay Naperville, I see you... After the search for where to eat for lunch went down for 10 minutes, we finally agreed upon SanguChe and I have to say I was quite impressed with the food! While it all was pretty good, I have to say hands down I'll say my favorite was the ceviche with shrimp fried rice we ordered and probably the most authentic Peruvian of the dishes we ordered. This place is surprisingly good particularly given that it is in Aurora. The people running it are awesome! I strongly recommend trying the fresh juices one of which is made of purple corn and the other is made of freshly Squeezed lemons with ginger and mint. If they have it I recommend the ceviche and the chicken fried rice, both of which stood up very well to anything you'll find in the Caribbean. I've never been to Peru but I've been to the Peruvian neighborhoods in New York City and the food here was on par with that. The sandwiches are great: we had the pork Chiccarone. My wife is a big fan of yucca fries, and she quite like theirs. Their hand cut french fries were outstanding. Dining in is quite pleasant there even though it's more of a takeout place.
