We briefly stopped by for a quick lunch at this small joint as our friends gave rave reviews about it. It was our first time trying Peruvian food, the place was quite crowded, and the staff was friendly. The fried rice we tried was very tasty, with an explosion of flavors, especially with their green chilly sauce! Even my kids also were going gaga. My taste buds completely and absolutely approve of the fried rice I had, I can't say anything about other options, but I heard everything here is just delicious! A must try if longing for some spicy food, and it is SPICY!

A friend raved about the Peruvian sandwiches here, so another friend and I came for dinner. There are a handful of options to choose from; she got the lomo saltado (marinated beef with grilled onions, red peppers and tomato), and chicharron for me (braised pork with sweet potato, salsa and parsley mayo). Both were DELICIOUS, as were the accompanying fries. This is an unpretentious location in a strip mall; we were the only ones eating in, but a number of people came to pick up to go ordes while we were there. Staff were also very friendly. Definitely worth remembering for a better-than-average sandwich!

Got the chicharrón sandwich. Delicious! The bread is crisp and the meat is really rich. All of the ingredients are perfectly balanced. The hot sauce is really salty, but they gave it to us on the side so I just put a little bit on. A little too expensive considering the size of the sandwich, but the meal overall is pretty filling since you get fries on the side.

Don't be fooled by outside, this place is the real deal. The fries rice is packed with delicious shredded chicken and is a favorite in my house. I dream about the Peruvian poutine that you can order with any meat topping and oh my goodness this hits the spot...hard! Definitely recommend sharing the poutine because it's super filling. I've tried a few of the sandwiches as well, but my favorite that I always go back to it the quinoa burger, hands down the best I've ever had. If you are vegan or not, give it a try and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised. During lunch it can tend to get busy and have no seats and a little wait, so call ahead to pick up.

Milanesa (fried chicken sandwich) w quinoa mini salad

First of all, I have never been to any Peruvian sandwich shop before. So I do not have anything to compare for this review. We arrived there at 1pm on Friday afternoon. There were a couple of customers waiting for their pick up orders. We could have a table for dining right away. While we were waiting, I saw a lady start Latin American music. Pretty nice service. Our order: Milanesa w quinoa mini salad (Fried breaded chicken w vegetable and parsley Mayo) Butifarra w hand-cut fries (Grilled pork w salsa, onion relish and parsley mayo) Milanesa chicken sandwich Chicken had a nice crisp, and a nostalgic flavor similar to Tonkatsu. It was made fresh and vegetable and sauce did not make the breaded part soggy. I really liked parsley mayo, which tasted new and balancing everything together. We ordered a large size sandwich, so it might be a little more convenient if they cut it in half right before serving. Butifarra pork sandwich Again, I loved the flavor. I accidentally dropped the last chunk of pork, which made me a little sad. But without the pork, I still enjoyed very much the sour salsa and the sweet onion relish flavor together on the bread. So the pork-fall was not completely meaningless. They also offered a little cup of their hot sauce. It was not sriracha. I think it was their homemade sauce? A little fruity maybe from green tomatoes? It had a nice kick of spicy pepper. But WARNING, it was pretty spicy to me, so when I dipped a tiny edge of the sandwich or potato fries, then it was perfect. Mini salad Our mini salad was quinoa w vegetables. Nicely chilled and gently flavored. It was great between sandwiches and hot sauce. Very refreshing. Fries Their home made fries also tasted great. But because it is home-made, it was pretty quick to get cooled down and harder. Again hot sauce works very well together. For me the both sandwich was 4.5 stars. I liked the Butifarra pork sandwich just a little better. A negative side was that the both meats were a tiny bit dry. But again I have never tried Peruvian sandwich before, so I cannot say much. I enjoyed the flavor very much, and would love to try yucca fries and a roast beef sandwich, too!

My first round at Sanguche went ok. The Milanesa was real overcooked and kinda hard to chew to be honest. The Pollo Ambulante was very good. I enjoyed their quinoa salad, but my wife was more into the fries. It was early, like 11:15. Maybe I caught them at a bad time right when they opened. Willing to give it another shot some time.

Okay Naperville, I see you... After the search for where to eat for lunch went down for 10 minutes, we finally agreed upon SanguChe and I have to say I was quite impressed with the food! What'd we get? Adobo de Cerdo sandwich with a side of their quinoa salad, order of the Peru Poutine, and the Ceviche! A nice mix of Peruvian inspired flavors throughout each of the dishes. While it all was pretty good, I have to say hands down I'll say my favorite was the ceviche with shrimp fried rice we ordered and probably the most authentic Peruvian of the dishes we ordered. Note that this was definitely more than enough for for two and we ended up taking home a lot of the poutine and side quinoa salad. Other things to note? Casual spot. No reservation needed, plenty of seats. Lots of parking (located in strip mall). Very clean and well maintained. Large TV playing world cup. Takes credit cards. The hot sauce with the poutine is fuego (use caution). Get the ceviche. 'Til next time, cheers!

Quinoa burger with fried yuca on the side

Waited 20 min for my burger when there were only about 5 customers in front of me... 3 staffs were obviously not enough to handle all the tables especially during lunch time... I ordered quinoa burger and upgraded my regular fries to fried yuca but somehow got charged more than if I get a full order of yuca. I had to point that out for the cashier to take a dollar off my order which was somewhat arbitrary... The food was just okay and nothing comparable to even street good I've had in Peru.

We ordered the buffet-style package, which worked perfectly for accommodating a variety of dietary needs, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and halal options. The pricing was extremely fair for the amount and quality of food we received. We ordered double portions to serve 118 people, and the setup filled four rows of tables, as shown in the photo. The order came with everything we could have needed. I worked directly with the owner, Sharif, who was incredible throughout the entire process. His communication was excellent, he helped recommend the best options for our specific needs, and he was very understanding of the limited lunch breaks our teachers and staff had. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. Even with the generous portions, everything was gone quickly because everyone loved it. Sharif truly went above and beyond with both the quantity and service. Next time, I'll definitely plan to order even more because it was such a hit. It also means a lot to support a local business owner who has children in District 204. That community connection made the experience feel even more personal and meaningful.

I truly had high hopes for this establishment when I saw the sign. Once I walked inside and took one look at the menu board, I knew this wasn't going to be a good experience. Asada has an extremely limited menu and the food is crappy. I ordered tacos to go and ended up throwing them out after a couple of bites. I can't seek about the Halal food, however, Taco Bell serves better tacos than this joint. The staff also looked "less than thrilled" to be working that night. The only thing going for this place is that the establishment has a large, comfortable dining room. Plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the Fox Valley area to go to than this.

The interior of Byrd's has a red & black color scheme and sports-themed graffiti, not terribly different from other chicken places like Dave's or Hangry Joe's. The interior at all of these chicken places is kiddish. There's a decent amount of seating with 8 or so tables. There are also a couple of arcade machines in the back near the washrooms. We ordered a 5-piece chicken finger meal with fries (mild heat), and a chicken sandwich (medium heat). Each one included their signature sauce. There are utensils and ketchup available for self-service. The chicken fingers were cooked well, but with mild seasoning (one level above plain), there wasn't much flavor at all. With the chicken sandwich, there was an okay amount of flavor, but definitely not a flavor bomb. Plus, the chicken piece was noticeably slimmer than Dave's or Hangry Joe's. I would say Dave's is the most flavorful, but Hangry Joe's is pretty good too. Service was friendly and pricing was reasonable, but I don't find Byrd's as flavorful as its competition.
