    Pollo Saltado
    George O.

Ordered Uber eats from here several times and can't get enough! The Pollo Saltado is my favorite! It's the chicken version of the national dish of Peru "Lomo Saltado". Usually has steak tips with rice, fries, roasted tomatoes and onions with a side of green sauce (but I opted for chicken instead of the steak). Delicious! I usually get a side of beans but sometimes I get the corn. It is absolutely tasty!

We've been searching for another go-to Peruvian restaurant in Chicago ever since our favorite place (AyAy Picante) closed. This restaurant is small, but did not disappoint! We ordered Ceviche de Pescado, which was the perfect blend (would have omitted the black pepper but there are several different ways to make it based on the region of Peru), Anticuchos and the traditional Aji de Gallina. Everything was delicious! Their green sauce (aji verde) goes great on literally everything and there's nothing quite like it. Prices were reasonable given the type of food, we will definitely be making this our new favorite Peruvian spot!

So delicious! Also very affordable. The aesthetic could be better but not horrible. Also great that it's BYOB

    Leche de tigre

Estuvo rico el ceviche, lugar organizado y limpio con buen servicio al cliente. Música acorde al ambiente.

The Aji de Gallina (from the menu: "Chicken in walnut sauce. Served with potato, boiled egg and white rice") was incredibly good, although it didn't taste like walnuts to me. Doesn't matter, I'd get it again. Service was great, our server was very nice and attentive. We went at a random time so we were the only people there. Music was not loud or non-existent (thank you). Hoping to go back again soon!

Excellent. The pollo saltado - chicken stir fried with onions and tomatoes. The sauce poured over French fries, so they soak in all the juices. A side of white rice makes for the perfect side. Rotisserie chicken - this was the reason we came, and damn did it deliver. Incredibly moist and full of flavor. The green pepper sauce it comes with pairs perfectly. It's got a little subtle kick to it. The staff was great and super friendly. Food came out quick and was so fresh. Prices are super reasonable, and portions are large. The dining room is large and comfortable but no frills - the focus is on the food, as it should be.

This is right in the…read moreheart of Old Town on Wells, surrounded by a bunch of restaurants and bars, really lively area. The food and drinks are a bit pricey, on par with higher end restaurants in Chicago nowadays. In terms of food, our absolute favorite was the Pulpo Parrillero (grilled octopus) ~ so good! We also enjoyed the Yucas Trufadas (yucca fritters w/ truffle sauce). The Arroz con Mariscos and the Lomo Saltado were good, but would probably try something else next time. For dessert, we had the Crema Volteada, which was delicious, though unfortunately I think it was a bit overbaked, as the texture was a bit dense like jello instead of creamy and melt-in-your-mouth like a flan. Service was great ~ at first we were seated at a small booth table by the open kitchen, and being a lefty, I felt cramped between the wall and the larger party next to me. We let our server know, and she was very gracious and moved us to a much more comfortable seat in the middle of the restaurant. And the lomo saltado I thought was a bit dry/tough, and they brought use a new one quickly. Unfortunately, the texture was the same, but the server and manager again were very gracious about it, and gave us a dessert on the house. Overall, despite a few hiccups, we had a wonderful time and look foward to returning for the Pulpo Parrillero and to try some of the other menu items!

As Peruvians, we were especially excited to try it. I started with the Yucas Trufadas paired with a pisco sour. The yucas were tasty, and the truffle huancaína added a unique twist, while the pisco sour was excellent. It tasted like a good pisco sour, and a great way to start. For the second course, I had the chaufa alongside the sohoul cocktail. I'm a big chaufa lover, and while this wasn't traditional in appearance, it was excellent. The maitake mushrooms added a slightly crunchy texture that I really enjoyed. The Sohoul, however, was my least favorite of the drinks. Lychee just isn't my jam. For dessert, I had the lúcuma ice cream paired with an espresso martini. The ice cream was a 10/10. Rich, flavorful, and not something you can find in stores. The espresso martini was a perfect match for me as a coffee lover. Definitely more coffee-forward than sweet, and a great pick-me-up to end the meal. Service was seamless, with our server bringing each new drink right as we finished the last. Between the cocktails and the thoughtfully portioned courses, we left feeling satisfied and not at all hungry. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try, just keep in mind it leans more toward a fine dining experience rather than traditional Peruvian street-style food.

Happy hour on a Saturday? Sign me up!…read more We landed on Boleo as our option for early dinner for four of us before a tango concert and performance because it's South American, and we love a theme. We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. Everyone we interacted with was super professional and easy going. We didn't know what to expect for the space, and when we arrived before sunset, it felt weird how bright it was in there. After sunset, the whole space felt a lot more swanky. Prices are a good value, even apart from the happy hour offerings. This is a great option for pre-show dining in the loop.

When it snows, you'll see the magic come down during your dinning experience. Based on what we heard, they at times, have a DJ playing jams and people can dance to the tunes. Sometimes, they even have a live band is what I've heard. Sounds like a really cool spot for major events or holidays, like New Year's Eve. Staff was attentive and great with recommending options to us. We love it when they engage and share their thoughts on current dishes. From a food perspective, everything tasted decent. There are areas of opportunity that could have been better. Octopus was a bit overcooked and you can definitely taste the chewiness of it. Flavor is ok but text for this dish did not come through. Ceviche "Jipijapa" de Manabi was a bit salty also, but not to the extreme. Scaling back the sodium level to achieve balance would made this a good dish. If sodium is needed, salt can be introduced afterwards. Lomo Saltado was paired with an aioli sauce instead of the green Aji verde sauce. It would have been a better pair with the verde sauce to balance out the savory profile. Overall meal was ok. Love the vibe which made it a great place to catch up or go on a date.
