Back in January of this year, a sales person from a Texas Branch of my company had a client that had recently purchased a home in South Lake Tahoe. The client wanted to change out the existing built-in refrigerator and dishwasher. Long story short, after they reached out to their distract manager who reached out to my district manager, the opportunity to assist the home owner landed on my desk. My store is in Southern California, the home is 6 hours drive north of us in ideal driving conditions. While I knew I would be able to find the means to ship the product up to the customer's home, the next issue became how to have the product installed for the home owner. After some research with some disappointing reviews, I came across Sandman Installation. The reviews were promising and they had a website. Decently maintained with some good photograph's of previous work to show that they are beyond capable for what I was looking for. The CA contractor's license number was listed on their website and a quick check on the Department of Consumer Affairs Contractor's State Board website showed that everything was in order, so I reached out to David via the website. I also tried to reach out by telephone thinking that he might not take me seriously if he saw that I was trying to reach him from Southern California via email. David called me back about an hour later and we discussed the possible work lined up and he provided me a quote. Having been in this industry for the past decade, his figures were on the slightly higher side, but completely within reason due to the fact that the jobsite is 1-1/2 hours drive from himself, in ideal driving circumstances. After getting back in touch with the home owner with the figures for the appliances and the cost of installation, she wished to proceed. I made sure to include both the home owner and David in all of the email correspondence so that everyone was on the same page. David had always been nothing short of a pure professional in his email responses as well as telephone correspondences with me and the home owner. Flash forward to the time frame the home owner was due to receive their product. The carrier company had some delays due to weather, I am grateful that she is a very patient and understanding person. Some further miscommunication between the carrier company and the home owner resulted in the product arriving a couple of days later than what we planned. David was extremely flexible in working with us. When the client informed me that she had received the appliances, I reached out to David to confirm that the product was there and he agreed to perform the installation work the next day. That evening he contacted the home owner to confirm an estimated window of arrival. The next morning, he contacted me to ensure the address he had was accurate and to confirm he was en route. I also confirmed with the home owner by email the estimated window for him to arrive. At 7 PM that evening, I received an email from the home owner. She was very pleased with everything. She explained that David had taken a few hours to very CAREFULLY and meticulously uninstall her old appliances and install her new appliances. Most folks might not think much of an installer who takes their time as we are used to expecting things done instantly. In my field, too many installers rush jobs where mistakes are found at a later time when it is the most inconvenient time. Sandman Installations subscribes to the "old" philosophy of taking pride in their work. If my company ever opened a branch in Northern California, I would gladly recommend Sandman Installations as the preferred installer. I wish he was in Southern California as I would love to have him be THE installer for every kitchen remodel project I am involved in. read more

Very satisfied with Dave's work on my dishwasher installation. Prior to the job, Dave was very communicative through phone and text, especially considering we had to carefully time things to work around the initial COVID lockdown situation. Dave is a seasoned professional, and has been doing installations of all types of appliances for many years, he also took the time to do a brief run-through afterwards to make sure the dishwasher was working the way we expected, and he also hauled away the old one is part of the job. Dave is the guy to call! I had a cabinet ruined by a handyman. After lots of bad contractors with bad advise & unwillingness to install a new range hood, Dave was the ONLY ONE that gave a honest and super obvious solution. He gave the best price and installed the range hood. His partner, his son, repaired & modified the cabinet, then added a cute bread shelf. In addition, they completed the facing & added a shelf to an added open cabinet left undone by the same terrible handyman. What I really appreciate is that he came back to fix the trim as I requested. You might have to call him about arrival time because he is super busy and has his own timing. However, he came the day he said he would and finished the work in one day instead of two. Definitely calling him to do more. read more

Sandman Installations came out the same day that I called them to do an installation for a oven range. Dave gave me a quote over the phone and kept good communication throughout the day on his estimated arrival time and arrived on time as discussed. The install took about 30 minutes and everything worked as expected. The oven range was a high-end Italian model that required special fittings but luckily Dave had them on hand. I hired David Gervais to install two chandeliers and three fans. After waiting for him for over two hours, he finally called. He offered no apology -- merely a litany of excuses about why he hadn't arrived: his car broke down, he's been working for three weeks without a day off, he thought I lived in Rio Linda, not Rio Vista (but he wouldn't charge me any more than he quoted for the longer trip), blather about his wife and children, etc. etc. If he had been courteous enough to call in a timely manner to say he couldn't make it, I certainly would have understood. However, when someone can't take responsibility for their action and has to blame his not showing up on everything and everyone but himself, I don't want to have anything to do with him! read more

We initially contacted David to install a new range hood and to demolish a section of cabinets that the hood would replace. David worked with us through several re-scheduling while closing on our home. Not only did David install our range hood he installed our dishwasher, electric cooktop, and two new toilets. The owner Dave Gervais is awesome. We had hired him to install all new kitchen appliances in our previous home after receiving a recommendation from the store where we purchased the appliances. The previous owner had remodeled the kitchen and had tiled around the microwave/hood. The new microwave/hood we purchased had a different mounting system, but Dave was able to make some modifications to make everything work correctly and his craftsmanship was excellent. We recently purchased another home and once again decided to replace all the kitchen appliances and Dave was our "go to" guy. In addition to the kitchen appliances, he also installed a couple of ceiling fans for us. Sometimes his son assists him, and they make an awesome team. Excellent service. Called in the morning on a Saturday and got an installer at my place within 2 hours. The installer was knowledgeable and courteous. After a thorough diagnosis and detecting the problem, the installer even went out on a quick run to get the right part for us. He was also very very gentle and careful with our appliance. Can't thank them enough for the professionalism and quick service, we haven't had a stove to use for an entire week and now we're all good! Sandman installations was great! Dave came out this past Sunday, the same day I called, to install ann over range microwave for us. He was very pleasant and responsive to all of my calls and came prepared and on short notice! Most all places are closed on Sundays but Dave answered right away and made it out within a few hours. We had an odd situation where the microwave didn't work well initially with our cabinet set up but Dave quickly helped modify our cabinets to make it securely without changing how it looked. I have nothing but good things to say about this company and the guy who runs it. I flip homes in the Sacramento area and had Dave (the owner) install appliances in the kitchen of our homes. He did a "perfect job" installing all of the appliance. This was not an easy job in that he had to make a special effort to install the dishwasher due to flooring issues and he found a dent in the microwave oven that came from the company we purchased the appliances from. This is the second time I used Sandman Installation. The first time was to replace double oven with Microwave/oven combo, and range hood. This time, Dave installed the dishwasher and Whirlpool washer. Both times, I purchased appliances online and have Dave do the installation. Both times, he has done a very professional job. The job I hired Dave for was quite possibly the most difficult dryer installation possible. After spending countless hours trying to get the dryer vent to vent my old over sized dryer into a small closet and vent properly, I turned to the Internet. Dave responded within minutes. At first I was hesitant to spend 100$ because the dryer was free and all the hoses and vents I bought and tore up, I didn't want to sink more money into this dryer. But Dave assured me he could do it, and I couldn't do it myself. Dave came out one evening, a little later than expected due to another job running late but that's ok. He spent about 2.5 hours working on it and fabricated a vent with one damaged one I had on hand. He got it to fit so the door could close but the dryer door wouldn't open. So at 11:30 he called it a night, so did I. Dave came back 2 days later with the right vent but my house was poorly built and the vent pipe was angled the wrong way. Dave was able to manipulate that vent to allow a proper connection. So overall it took him close to 5 hours but that's not his fault. It's my poorly built house. I will never move this dryer and I will definitely consider Dave for any of my installation needs. read more
