My house was built in 1962 and most of my bathroom components were original. I wanted to have both bathrooms remodeled because they were both very ugly and depressing. I had several contractors stop by to give me estimates - a lot of contractors were very sloppy in their estimates, telling me they would give me a bathroom in five days or asking me to buy all the supplies, etc (as if I would know what to get), or telling me they can do it for $5k without permits. Anywho, Ivan from Vitex stopped by and asked a lot of questions on what kind of vision I had, and when I did not know an answer, he made suggestions. For example, he suggested I add a shower light - that's something I did not think of at all - and also pointed out things that were required for code upgrades, etc. The entire process was very transparent. After I received the quote, I met Ivan at the warehouse in Rancho Cordova and he helped me pick out the tile for the wall and the floor. Again, I'm clueless and he made the right recommendations that made sense. The crew arrived on day one and these guys work hard and other than their lunch breaks, they don't stop until the end of the workday. The workers were very pleasant and diligent. Very friendly. I really enjoyed having them here and they did excellent work. Once they were done, I proceeded to hire Vitex for bathroom #2, which involved removing a jet tub to build a walk in shower. This time I worked with Arthur, who was also excellent and the same worker crew. They did an excellent job with that bathroom, as well. What also helped was being in touch with Victor, the owner, via group text to keep me up to date on the project, etc. Also, for anyone doing their due diligence, Vitex is fully licensed and the work they did passed the City of Sacramento's inspection, so these guys are legit. We used Vitex for installing our kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets and countertops. Their cabinet guys and tile guy were all professional and did nice jobs. Where we ran into our problem was the countertops and the fact that Ivan hung us out to dry later on with our other projects. Our countertop sink cut outs for our bathrooms weren't done according to the curvature of the sinks leaving a knuckle's worth of overhang on the faucet side. He did this with all four of our bath sinks! I even let their fabricator (ahead of time) take one of our brand new under mount sinks with him to ensure accuracy but to no avail. Like anyone else spending significant money for a service, I spoke up which isn't unreasonable. They comped me a small granite piece for the top of a pony wall in our bathroom, which was a nice gesture that we accepted and all was good. Ultimately there wasn't really much that could be done about the sinks anyway and the gesture made is so it didn't completely ruin our experience with Vitex. We intended to use them again. We subsequently contacted them more than once after that to do our master shower and kitchen countertops. (Yes, I was even willing to work with his fabricator again since I figured he couldn't screw up on a square sink.) Ivan has blown us off each time. "We're too busy" "my tile guy isn't available" or other such b.s. So Ivan, I've gotten your message loud and clear, you can't accept reasonable criticism and are holding a grudge because I spoke up so you don't want to do business with us. I've got it, no problem. So, to anyone considering working with Vitex, expect mixed results as well, but also expect that you'd better keep your mouth shut because if you have any issue at all, large or small, they will most certainly blackball you on the rest of your projects. It took us some time, but thankfully, we did find other companies that did great work for us to complete our projects. read more

We worked with Daniel to create a design that was fictional and affordable for our family of 4. Daniel was dry responsive. We made several design changes throughout the process because of supplies and timeline. Daniel was easy to work with and made the necessary changes without delaying our original timeline. Our kitchen remodel was completed in about 1 month from demo day to finish line. The Vitex crew is amazing! They're are tidy and respectful of our home. They clean up at the end of each day. Daniel gave us the work plans for the day, and provided info on who was coming to the house. One hiccup (not Vitex's fault) was our Zline dishwasher didn't work after install. The poor electrician spent all day trying to get it to work. He even tried to fix the motherboard for us! We finally had to contact Zline for a replacement, which took 3 weeks. By the our remodel was done. Vitex offered to come back and install for us even after the job was completed at no additional charge! Once our countertop and backsplash had time to settle the caulk line was cracked. We knew this to happen as it's our 3rd kitchen remodel. We called Daniel only to ask what color caulk he used so we can touch up. Daniel said our tile guy would be there tomorrow! Tile guy arrived the next day and touched up for us. Did we say this was our 3rd kitchen remodel (different houses)? No contractor/company has ever done that for us. We have already referred 2 friends to Vitex. They really do go above and beyond. So we bought a home that was a fixer in Elk Grove and it was a lot more involved than we thought it would be. We decided to split the projects between multiple companies due to timeline / availability but if we had a chance to do it over, we would go strictly with Vitex. Overall, what specifically set Vitex apart from the multiple contractors that we interviewed and the few contractors that we actually hired was Vlad from Vitex. He absolutely made, what at times felt overwhelming and stressful, an overall good experience. Price: Although I felt that the price was higher than anticipated, I found that their pricing was reasonable once I got multiple bids and once I saw the work complete. Although there will be a sticker shock for some (especially if you watch HGTV), you will see that their prices aren't the lowest but aren't unreasonable either. Timeline: Originally, Vitex mentioned that they were booked up and could not start until November (we were looking for contractors in August). This is why we decided to go forward for a part of the house with a contractor that could start earlier so that we could phase the construction and still somewhat live in the house. Unfortunately, the other contractor over promised and under delivered and did not start on time. Vitex on the other hand, started when they promised and worked on achieving the timeline that they promised. We were very happy with the progress made. Quality: Vitex worked on the primary bathroom in the house. This involved removing a wall between the original bathroom and closet to extend the bathroom larger and then walling off a separate section of the bedroom to create a new closet. This is the part where we were the most happy. Vlad walked us through step by step on the design, gave his input on pros and cons of each decision, and gave us very trustworthy, unbiased information that helped us to make decisions. Throughout the project, we ran across hiccups with other vendors that he helped us to find replacements for. There was even a hiccup with a painter that we hired that he helped us resolve. We could not be more thankful for him going above and beyond to help. Service: Vlad's communication throughout the process was great. We would communicate via text about once a week just to communicate decisions and sync on progress. Overall: Finding a contractor for us was very overwhelming at times because most of the time, you don't have any reference and for us, we were worried about getting stuck with the wrong contractor. At times, we felt like we did with some of them as we were going through this massive remodel. One of the things that we didn't regret was working with Vlad and the Vitex team and I am very appreciative of all of their help. Contacted Vitex as they had done another project in my home, mainly my kitchen. I had a 70's floor to ceiling, wall to wall of rock with a fireplace insert in the middle. Contacted Vitex and Vlad came out to take a look at the elephant in my dining room. After getting the quote and then choosing finishes for the 'new' dining room wall, the fun started. We didn't know that the wall and hearth were about 6 - 8" thick. Jackhammers made short work of getting it out of there. The job was slated to be done in about 3 1/2 weeks and of course the Vitex crew came through. The popcorn ceiling was removed and then textured. New canned lights were installed. They then rebuilt part of the hearth so the pellet stove could go back in then rebuilt the fire wall. Cabinet with bookcases were installed then the hearth tile and stone veneer went up. Talk about a major transformation! I've recommended Vitex to several of my friends and they always do the best for what ever project they work on. My wife and I would highly recommend Vitex for remodeling. They were very easy to work with from the start and we are thrilled with the completed remodel of our master bathroom, including a fireplace makeover. They are friendly and courteous and worked until every last detail was completed to our liking. When they finished up the last day it felt like saying goodbye to good friends. My wife especially appreciated that they regularly cleaned up after their work each day and were prompt about taking away the piles that accumulated on the side of our house. They also did a great job of sealing off the area to avoid spreading too much dust and debris into the rest of the house. She also felt very comfortable with each sub-contractor and Vitex employee who came to the house. Their showroom is just the right size with many beautiful displays and our salesman was terrific when it came to helping us make decisions about shower tile, floor tile, coordinating mosaics, cabinets and vanity top. We have had mold problems in the past so we're very pleased that they did fully floated mud shower walls. This is the traditional method that should last decades. We appreciated the constant group text messaging with Vitex and the two of us. This made communication very easy and we were kept informed of who was coming, and what decisions and purchases we needed to make: sinks, hardware, tub, tub filler, shower head, toilet, etc. They were also quick to inform us if the original estimate would be effected by any changes in the original plan we had made. So many decisions in this process! We used Pinterest and Houzz alot. And I built the entire bathroom in a 3D design program so that we could try different variations to be able to envision the finished product. That was a nice guide that was posted on the wall during the project and so cool to watch Vitex create what we had envisioned! In all Vitex was a pleasure to work with. We got three estimates. Vitex came up with the most credible, complete plan AND were the most reasonable. Max, their young designer was a pleasure to work with. Despite his youth, he had an excellent knowledge of design and construction. We enjoyed the various tradesman. They all took pride in their work. If we had a concern it was promptly addressed. The one tip I would offer is that we (the customers) were responsible to purchase many items of plumbing and fixtures. We were not comfortable of our ability to make selections. We chose Vitex to remodel our kitchen and do a partial remodel of two bathrooms. Quality of workmanship and products was great and they were easy to work with. We compared several contractor quotes and Vitex was one of the most competitive, plus they were able to schedule the job sooner than some. They also have a nice showroom which made it easy to pick out just what we wanted. During the remodel process we did not always know what was going on or when things were going to happen, but Daniel, our main contact, was always responsive when we reached out to him. There were never any surprises with the pricing and the only updates made to the estimate were due to changes that we requested. Maxwell came and gave us a quote for a bathroom remodel missing a bunch of vital information like how we would need a new door and doorway installed after a wall gets knocked down and how a lot of the demo areas needed to be retexturized after. We asked him to include this and let us know the new quote. He confirmed and told us he will adjust the quote and get back to us. 3 months later, heard nothing. We reached out again thinking maybe they were so busy they forgot to get back to us. We found their Yelp was offering 20 percent off renovations which suggested business was slow during covid. Maxwell got back to us with the quote 3k more. Only goes to show how off he was with his original quote. Their bid was still one of the lowest we got so we follow up with that we were interested in working with them but wanted to know what happened that we did not receive a follow up quote for 3 months. Maxwell's response was "yeah not sure what happened there." Seems he takes no responsibility for anything and if this is the only face of the company we have ever interacted with, really makes me wonder how the rest of the business is like. We ended up going with another company who was more responsive and accountable. They do have a pretty low price compare to other contractors but not sure how much we can trust his quote since his initial quote came in 3k shorter than what it should have been and that's only the stuff we caught. read more

Vitex did a GREAT job on a really challenging floor project that I needed done! It was an 800 sq/ft space with really lumpy uneven concrete. I had 4 or 5 different people come out to take a look and give estimates, and Vitex was the only one that seemed really solid and confident about the task. (A couple of the other company guys just shook their heads and basically told me, "Good luck with that...") It wasn't cheap, as they had to basically raise the level of the whole floor a couple of inches to get it level, but I am thrilled with the results!
