We expected more after reading reviews about the food at this establishment. The four of us each got a $16 two meat combo and agreed that the sausage was the best tasting item on the menu. The beans were too smoky, the brisket and pulled pork were dry, the portions were pretty small and the coleslaw and fries weren't anything special. Just tried it for the first time. Delicious food. Pulled pork was moist and had two generous sides. My husband had the Hog Wild Platter. Everything was delicious. He loved the collard greens. I only packed shorts and flip flops, so it had to be casual. Sandfly BBQ was a really good choice. It is in a Savannah suburb and is an easy drive from Savannah's historic district. We both had pulled pork and 2 sides. The pulled pork was juicy, tender and perfect. I had potato salad and baked beans. The potato salad was yummy-mustardy and chunky. The baked beans were...different. They had a strong smoky flavor that I didn't especially care for. They weren't bad, just different. My husband had onion rings and fries. Just spent a week in Savannah, in the Sandfly area, and HAD to get lunch here 3 days in a row. It was one of the BEST pulled pork and quarter chickens we've ever had. The meat with the rub was smoked to perfection!! The sides were good too. Got a piece of grilled texas toast with our dinners that was a nice touch. This is not a fancy place, just a neighborhood BBQ fast food restaurant. We knew it was a good pick when a lot of locals were standing in line to order. Wanted to go to the original restaurant in downtown but Waze's routed us to the one in Sand Fly. Don't let the strip mall scare you off as the BBQ was very good. Had the ribs and brisket. We visited based on Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. Pulled pork dinners. The BBQ was moist and flavorful even before we added sauce. I sampled all three sauces,they were all good. A lot of good reviews so I had to try it out on our trip through Savannah. I had the combo beef/pork platter which came with pulled pork and brisket. The brisket was seriously amazing - and I don't use that term often. Best I've ever had. The pulled pork was tasty but... struggling to find a better word, a bit mushy. I was there first thing after opening so I will chalk that up to it needed more time to rest. Sides were great, although baked beans tasted too smokey - wondering if they are using liquid smoke there. I'm not used to the sauces they had, wasn't really into any of them. Good to eat but not terrific pulled pork a little dry, ribs a little salty but I wouldn't turn them down, also not to expensive. Like most BBQ places they were sold out of a few things by the time I got there, notably beef brisket. I did like the smoked sausage mixed with onions. The sides were all good nothing spectacular. Truly Savannah BBQ. Everything here is great. I get kinda creeped out when I see the sweaty guys in the back but I guess it's hot. It is just kinda gross knowing they are touching my food, but I haven't died yet. Biggest complaint is they need to cook the Brunswick stew longer, the vegetated are always hard and I have to cook it longer at home. Other than that all the food has a great taste. read more

Something about Southern barbecue always gets me. Stopped here for lunch after our visit to Wormsloe (about a two minute drive away). This is a strip mall location compared to the converted diner closer to the Historic center. Arrived around 11:15 and was already a line at the counter and several tables eating which is always a good sign. Pulled pork sandwich was stacked with shredded pork on a bun. No sauce is put on it but there are several varieties on the table to add for yourself. In my opinion the vinegar based sauce was far and away the best but that is always my choice. Brisket was done nicely as well. Nice smoke ring around the bark. Was a lean cut. Fries were crispy and crunchy. Went perfectly for dipping in some of the sauce. Mac and cheese side was so-so. As a review below notes there is little ambiance here but it is a small barbecue joint in a local strip small so not sure what ambiance people would want. Personally, I will take the barbecue trophies over any type of ambiance. read more

WOW - don't know what else to say. The Food is EXCELLENT. All of it. We have tried everything and eaten in and taken out more times than we can count since finding this gem 6 months after moving to Savannah in 2011. It's always cooked to perfection, the sauces are all wonderful and each has it own special flavor. The have a small eat in side.
