Our family's Ford Explorer required a water pump replacement…read more I visited several local auto shops to obtain quotes and was shocked, disappointed, and discouraged at the prices I was being quoted for the work my vehicle required ($5,000-$7,500) Shame on me for not reading Yelp reviews before wasting my time visiting other auto shops. I read the many positive reviews for Hye-Tech Auto Repair and decided to visit them. Upon entering, I was greeted by John (owner) with a friendly, "Welcome, how may I help you?" I explained that my Ford Explorer needed a new water pump and a few other items that other auto shops had advised me would require repair or replacement. While John looked up a few items on the computer to provide me with a quote, he introduced me to his son, Harry, who happened to be in the office. Thirty seconds later, John provided a quote that was $3,500-$4,000 less than the other shops. I could not believe it. John explained that he makes his living and succeeds in his business through repeat customers, and he does not believe in gouging customers for every last penny. He also shared that when he retires, his son Harry will take over the business, and he wants to leave Harry with a solid foundation of loyal repeat customers. It was then that I knew I could trust John and his son Harry. John went on to explain that replacing the water pump on a Ford Explorer was a 10-12 hour job, as it was an internal pump requiring numerous engine parts to be removed to reach it. This was the same thing all the other shops advised me. John suggested that I leave my vehicle, and he would perform a full inspection of the engine and contact me before doing anything to it. I agreed and left my vehicle. The following day, I was contacted by John, who advised me that the water pump did indeed need to be replaced, as it was the source of the constant leaks of the water coolant. I left my vehicle in John's shop for three days. During this time, John or his son, Harry, contacted me numerous times to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle and also to point out that mechanics had discovered two or three very inexpensive items (under $50.00) which they recommended replacing, which I agreed to have done. All in all, I was and am extremely impressed and satisfied with everything about this shop. I spent much less money to have five different issues repaired on my vehicle at Hye-Tech than what I was quoted to replace my water pump alone by every single shop I visited prior to coming to Hye-Tech. John and Harry are very friendly, honest, and trustworthy. They are also very knowledgeable and experienced, and they offer GREAT customer service and communication. This is my new go-to shop for any issues involving our family vehicles. Thank you, Hye-Tech Auto Repair, for a very positive experience.

I requested a quote through Yelp and my request was sent to multiple auto shops. I chose this…read morecompany based on location and called ahead to confirm they could do more than just read basic codes. I had already done my own diagnostics and knew the car was running rich. I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

I made a last minute appointment to have my 1995 Jaguar smogged...not always an easy task due to the year of the model since different equipment has to be used (I think). The person on the phone was friendly and efficient. When I showed up to the large property, a technician kindly escorted me to the proper office. I was greeted immediately and checked in without delay. We joked about crossing fingers the car would pass due to the age. HUGE PLUS.....glorious A/C in waiting area. What a pleasant surprise!!! Didn't care how long it would take since I was so comfy. While waiting, I was impressed with the number of people passing thru who were all treated with such friendly camaraderie. The phone conversations with customers were quite upbeat and positive. And the good news....my car passed the test, tho just barely! We have several vehicles and I always dread this experience as I usually have to wait in an uncomfortably warm area, while breathing exhaust fumes. This was an exceptionally pleasant hour of my day and I was also happy to support a local San Dimas family business. Almost forgot...I was quoted approximately 80.00 for the service, but because they only had to use one machine, the total came to 51.00. How often does that happen??? My fuel injector failed and the mechanic i took it to was going to charge over $500 i checked with Sanders and was quoted almost HALF. They went out of their way to get my part, did a thorough diagnostic, did a great job, finished when they said they would, and were very courteous and professional. They have a new customer. Sanders Auto in San Dimas is a very customer not friendly place they are rude, (at least the big heavy set man who appeared to be in charge) he was rude and would not even consider my situation. I did register a complaint with customer service at Interstate Battery main office. I sure would advise that anyone who needs auto repair find a more reputable auto shop to do business with. These guys always make sure I'm taken care of. My Hyundai IONIQ had serious problems and was so broken , it had to be taken to the dealer for a deep diagnostics test. The Sanders crew paid for half my bill at the dealer!!! The level of customer service at Sanders is far beyond any other shop I've ever been to. Instead of explaining that the vehicle likely wasn't ready for testing, they went ahead and ran the smog anyway. The test failed because multiple system monitors hadn't completed, and they immediately reported the failure to the DMV. On top of that, the technician accused me of having my catalytic converter swapped out illegally, which was completely unexpected and honestly insulting. I've owned the vehicle for years and have never had any work done on it. He even offered to show me, but then wanted to charge me just to put the car on the lift -- which reinforced my feeling that everything here is about money. After the failed test, I was told I still had to pay because they spent about 30 minutes on it. From my understanding, many places don't charge if the vehicle isn't ready and fails for that reason, so this didn't sit right with me. To make matters worse, their payment system wasn't working properly when I tried to pay electronically, which just added to the frustration. The technician then got visibly irritated with me for being unhappy and handed me off to another employee instead of resolving the issue professionally. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, transactional, and lacking basic customer service. Charging for a failed test, reporting it when the vehicle clearly wasn't ready, and then getting frustrated with the customer is not how you treat people. I'm sure there may be a response to this, but this review reflects my personal experience.
