I had a very frustrating experience here and would not recommend this place. I went in for a smog check, forgetting that my battery had died the day before. Instead of explaining that the vehicle likely wasn't ready for testing, they went ahead and ran the smog anyway. The test failed because multiple system monitors hadn't completed, and they immediately reported the failure to the DMV. On top of that, the technician accused me of having my catalytic converter swapped out illegally, which was completely unexpected and honestly insulting. I've owned the vehicle for years and have never had any work done on it. He even offered to show me, but then wanted to charge me just to put the car on the lift -- which reinforced my feeling that everything here is about money. After the failed test, I was told I still had to pay because they spent about 30 minutes on it. From my understanding, many places don't charge if the vehicle isn't ready and fails for that reason, so this didn't sit right with me. To make matters worse, their payment system wasn't working properly when I tried to pay electronically, which just added to the frustration. The technician then got visibly irritated with me for being unhappy and handed me off to another employee instead of resolving the issue professionally. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, transactional, and lacking basic customer service. Charging for a failed test, reporting it when the vehicle clearly wasn't ready, and then getting frustrated with the customer is not how you treat people. I'm sure there may be a response to this, but this review reflects my personal experience. read more

This place, owner and employees are a total rip off .they so-called diagnost my car but couldn't find the problem and still charged me for nothing or couldn't tell me what was wrong ,them told me start with the computer brain I bought a brain took back to them,and they tell me I'd have to buy from them. What a bs shop.I pushed me car down the road to another shop.they fixed it for$120 dollars, while these clowns charged me $165 dollars for nothing. Came in on a Monday afternoon to get my smog checked. I walked in and was helped right away by a gentleman named Mike. This was my first time getting a smog check and had no clue what to do, but Mike answered all of my questions and walked me through the process. Total cost was $50. It took 10 minutes, if not less, to get everything finished. I was able to renew my registration the next day across the street at AAA. I used to live close by to this place, and Quality Auto Service was recommended to me by a longtime La Verne resident I knew. I haven't lived here in years, but I'll still drive out to see Mike for my smog checks and any major maintenance because it's worth it. I recently took a morning off to drive over from Burbank! Mike is knowledgeable, straightforward, and fair. My car is getting to be pretty up there in age, and he'll give me tips on how to keep it maintained to pass smog checks, what maintenance is urgent vs. what can wait, etc. He let me know that because my gas cap wasn't properly sealing, gas fumes were escaping and my maintenance light would continue to turn on. On my most recent visit, I called ahead to see if I could come in for smog, and I was out of there within 15 minutes. AAA is a block over so if you're a member and just need new tags, you can pop right over with your smog certificate and get it all done! I really trust these guys and they've always treated me well and with reasonable prices. I'll continue to go for as long as I can! read more

**STEAR CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!** This place is absolute trash!! I went in to get my check engine light checked and they LITERALLY charged me over $1,100.00 ON ALLEGED repairs done including an over $600 valve adjustment, fuel injector and spark plugs, and $149.50 for a "diagnosis" just for them tell me that oh I guess that wasn't what was causing my light to come on. AND if I wanted them to try to find the problem it would cost ATLEAST $2,000 for them to check it out!! What a bunch of crooks!! Worst mechanic and experience I have ever had the misfortune of encountering!! I took it to a real mechanic who was able to do a simple inexpensive compression test and tell me the same diagnosis it took these idiots to give me after OVER $1,100 on unnecessary repairs. I have used these guys now on 2 different cars and every time they have diagnosed and handled my specific problems quickly and for way less than the other quotes I was getting. I'll start with my 2015Lexus IS250 which had 3 dash lights on: check engine, VSC light, and traction control light. I was told by a different mechanic that it was going to need a new catalytic converter for $2000+. I brought the car in, had these guys diagnose it and they came back with a hose that had come unplugged due to a bad motor mount. So they put on a longer hose and fixed the motor mount, all for under $400. The other car was a check engine light on a Honda Civic that ended up just being the gas cap and I got out of there spending less than $20. They got right to my car and change my oil and filter. The brake light was on so I thought I might need new brakes but when they looked at it they discovered that the previous mechanic who had done my brakes didn't fill the fluid level enough and filled it for me and they didn't even charge me extra for it! I was buying a car out of my area. The car was located in La Verne. I live in San Diego. As part of the buying process, I wanted a thorough pre-purchase inspection. So I searched the AAA database of local La Verne repair shops. The list was short, so I used Yelp to find the best. Quality Auto Service was the easy winner. Mike did a great job of looking over my potential new car. He and his crew spent hours checking and testing it. Inside and out. He emailed me a detailed report and followed up with a phone call explaining the report. That information was worth $100's of dollars to me. Mike charged me a fraction of that. I'm picking up the car next week after the dealer makes many fixes based on Mike's report. There's an Asian donut place near my house in San Diego that makes plate-size apple bear-claws. I was in a real bad situation at a coin operated car wash across the street from Quality Auto Service. My 2003 Jeep Rubicon would not start after applying Gunk Engine Degreaser. I followed the directions with no startup success. I had just replaced a dead battery with a new Optima battery a couple of weeks ago. So I walked across the street, and asked the Owner, Michael, if he would give me a jump start. I had visited his business over a month ago to do my required smog check. He stopped everything, and he got my vehicle started. Long story short, a rag to protect my air cleaner housing had not been removed after reinstalling the K & N air filter, and it had plugged the airflow. I thought I had removed it, but shame on me! Made appointment to bring in my Audi A7 TDI to check out check engine light coming on with 2 codes and to check brakes. Car is a diesel as reflected in the TDI model stated when appointment form filled out. Codes were also given to them. So I did a lot of research and found Quality Auto Service. I had needed smog on both my cars and went in but that particular day the smog person was on vacation. No problem. I met Joe that day and he referred me to another smog place which was awesome. That impression of how nice Joe was, the cleanliness of the shop and how helpful he was made me come back yesterday for service on my daily driver. I provided Joe with my own parts which he verified were correct which I liked. I was already prepared to pick up a dirty vehicle inside and out which is how most mechanics leave your car to pick up but no. No greasy fingerprints inside or floor marks. As a garage mechanic by hobby and an intelligent person, I was able to verify that the work had actually been done. It was a non-catalyst (No Catalytic Converters from the Factory) and numerous other Smog shops didn't know anything about this, and insisted I put CATS on the motor home. After talking to Mike about it when looking for a Smog Shop, he knew about these "special" vehicles and understood the codes and what was needed in my case. The people who work here are great. My car was towed here by AAA so I had a little tiny bit of a discount. Tony and Mike are super helpful and explains everything with your car with tons of details. They break down the price for everything that needs to be fixed, which is great, but I felt a little overwhelmed by everything. It's difficult for a customer to hear nothing but "$$$" for every single thing that needs to be fixed (although, in their defense, I had have a pretty old, messed up car). I paid a really hefty bill just to have my car examined to determine the problem and decided from there I did not want to continue to fix my car. 5/5 for service but the price ain't cheap.
