I cannot recommend them enough. Great service, fair pricing, and honesty (which is priceless in this business). After getting what seemed like an outrageous quote/recommendation (~$2400) for some steering/suspension repairs & general maintenance (coolant & transmission) from another mechanic, I called and got a quote from these guys who came in $1,000 less! After inspecting the car, they couldn't reproduce the noise or find anything wrong with the steering/suspension and didn't recommend proceeding with any of the costly repairs. Brian was extremely helpful and took the time to explain everything. Claremont Auto's price for the Coolant and Transmission Fluid services were less than half the other shops'! I will be bringing my cars here from now on and will recommend everyone else do the same. read more

My 79 year old grandmother brought her car in to have the tire pressure sensor checked. She left her vehicle in their possession, and they sold her miscellaneous unnecessary service, such as air filters etc. Upon receiving the vehicle upon pick up, she noticed damage to the passenger door. She promptly brought it to their attention. At first they apologized and promised it would be repaired. Once they received a call from the manager Jeff he refused to repair. This business damaged a vehicle while I. Their possession and refused to fix it. read more

This shop is superior in every way to any repair facility I have used in 50 years of car ownership! An absolute, jaw-droppingly efficient, reasonably priced, honest and courteous team of professionals, Claremont Auto Care is, simply stated, the best shop I have ever used. I cannot recommend it more highly. You will understand my enthusiasm the first time you bring in your vehicle; you live an empty life of regret if you don't. Let me address two issues: I have no connection to this repair facility nor to anyone working there. A week ago we were utter strangers. My opinion is not biased by personal relationships. Second, my own father was a Ford dealer for 25 years, and I have worked "in the business" several times in the past as have all my immediate family members. Claremont Auto Care delivers better service and customers care than my dear dad's dealership, which is a statement I have never made before now. I brought in an older, high mileage vehicle. It needed diagnosis and repair. Costs are a critical issue for me. I had the privilege of meeting Jeff Anderson, whom I cannot endorse more highly. Jeff was at once professional and friendly, competent and sensitive to my situation and goals. The details are inconsequential, but the experience is not. Jeff understood what I hoped for him to do, provided me with an honest estimate (which beat a local, well-known competitor by 72%), and remained in daily telephone contact with me every day my car was in their hands. From our first handshake, Jeff's words and recommendations showed me that he was "on my team", committed to achieving my goals at a minimum expense; he didn't at any time waiver from this posture of helping me as if I were long lost relation, and I have not thought for even a second that his efforts were anything but centered on solving my problem. I have not felt that unspoken but simmering tension so common at other shops between customers and mechanics. At Claremont Auto Care I never questioned that the employees had my best interests in mind. This feeling of collegiality is unmatched ever in my experience, and Jeff is the reason why. I could go on waxing poetic about Claremont Auto Center's competencies and concerns, but I have said enough. This shop became in less than a week the auto repair facility to which I plan to return as needed for, well, the rest of my life. Anyone who even considers engaging with a different auto repair place is drugged, drunk, or deluded. I give Claremont Auto Care two thumbs up and five stars. Jeff Anderson should get even higher marks from me, but it turns out words do not exist to express adequately my delight, respect, and gratitude. You would be an idiot beyond redemption not to come here. And I write that from a place of satisfaction and respect. These guys rock. read more

terrible service these guys can't be trusted then wouldn't let me out of the parking lot manager is no help all scammers

I came here because my car makes a awful grinding noise from my front right tire especially when I turn left or make a left U-Turn (no signs of wear or friction anywhere) also feels like it wants to come off my car! My steering wheel has been off axis since I got the used Vehicle and I wanted to have my Transmission fluid levels checked. I did mention about my gears but I told the receptionist to remove it as I would take care of the issue at a later date. (he removes note) When I get an update on my vehicles progress I was told. 1) my tires were balding and that's why it was making sound/trying to come off car. 2) steering wheel is fixed (hooray) 3) my car now has an issue with a valve and gasket and now has a check engine light. What the hell! So either the guy at the front pretended to delete the note. or these guys literally create problems. My vehicle did not have a check engine light prior to coming to this location and now I have a problem that didnt occur until I came to this shop. Either two things took place. One. My vehicle was sabotaged coming to this location. Two. The mechanics here are so bad they could not reassemble what ever they disassembled. Either way I was no longer comfortable with my vehicle here and yelling would not solve my new problems WITH my current unresolved issue. I do not recommend this location and deleted previous review as now I know this place is scammish. I'm taking my car to the dealership to pay extra because now im forced to fix more problems visiting here. DO NOT COME HERE. read more

I have hesitated to get this repair done on my car because I was worried that I would open up a rabbit hole of issues that would cost hundreds of dollars. My car had very heavy negative camber on the front wheels which was visible when just looking at the wheels in addition to me needing to hold the steering wheel 40° to the left to drive straight. It was very fast service and I was charged about $60. My car now looks and drives like new. Very happy with the service. read more

I have used this Auto repair shop for many years.. however, when I called them to do the free AAA 40 pt inspection last week the manager gave me an attitude.. he stated I would not be able to come in for the free service until August 28th.. & essentially told me I would have to wait 4-5 hours for this simple service to be completed.. in other words, the manager wanted to make it as difficult as possible for me to come in. Just terrible, terrible customer service. Understandably, sometimes your car will just be "done" and no matter if you go to even the most reputable shops, they won't be able to fix it unless you pay up $$$$. These guys are just downright unpleasant. There's a younger guy working there who is the nicest, but the older gentleman who runs this place.. absolutely terrible. Stay away. read more

Wonderful owner and great staff! My family has been going to Mike for almost 30 years. The work is consistently excellent but what I appreciate most is the honesty. Ok everyone makes mistakes but it's what a business does after that mistake that makes you a lifetime customer or a one and done with that shop. I brought my Murano in for new spark plugs. It's not a simple job on a Nissan Murano because the top of the engine has to be removed first. They did the job I picked it up and then drove a hundred miles to San Diego and back the next day. When I got home I smelt oil burning and some smoke coming from the hood. I looked all around and noticed that the two lower bolts on the engine cover were not attached. Normally not a big deal but the day before I took it into the shop I took off the cover to check a spark plug to see its condition. While taking off the cover one of the bolts was stuck and took a lot of force to break it loose. I finally got it loose but it broke the plastic mount. It turned out the mount was connected to the valve cover and broke a hole in the cover allowing engine oil to leak out. I didn't see it and neither did the shop when they put in my spark plugs the next day. But had they mounted the cover properly they would have noticed it and I would not have taken it to San Diego and risked running the oil out of my engine which could have severely damaged the engine. I brought it back to the shop and pointed out the fact that they did not mount the bottom engine cover bolts and sent me on my way with oil leaking out of my engine. I told them I broke the mount and caused the hole but they did not notify me of the damage. I spoke to the lead mechanic Jeff and he took a look at my car and said please bring your car in and I will replace the cover you broke at no charge to you. A shop that makes a mistake and then goes above and beyond to fix it. That's my repair shop for life. They stand behind their work and make it right. Don't hesitate to take your car in and asked for Jeff! read more

Beware! Get a second opinion and take your business elsewhere. My car got stuck in Claremont last weekend and I had AAA tow it to the nearest mechanic which was Claremont Auto Care. After inspecting it, they said I needed a new transmission which would cost me over $2,000. I took it to another mechanic who I trusted and they said all I needed was a new axle. Total cost was $200 to fix my car. Not only did they misdiagnose the damage completely, they charged me $90 for the diagnosis! read more

These guys have been around a long time and they have always taken care of my cars and my family's cars. They have always been willing to help us out- oftentimes just as a courtesy. Once I was having difficulties changing out my battery cable (I couldn't break clamp bolt). I pulled in and they had a mechanic completely replace the cables for me - no charge this time. This is the sort of service I've grown accosting to from these guys. Never a rip off and always honest. I highly recommend over over local shops (in Claremont) who are extremely costly. read more

Brought in a '98 Jeep Wrangler with a check engine light on. They did a diagnostic and said it was an exhaust manifold leak of some kind but they needed some time to look at it to determine the exact problem. Later that day we get a call that they accidentally locked the key in the Jeep and can we bring a spare. Completely inconvenient but no choice but to drive there at lunch. When I arrived I asked where the key was in the vehicle and Bob said it was stuck in the ignition. I thought what? As I approached the Jeep I saw a pile of slim jims sitting on top of the tire. They were trying to break into the vehicle. Luckily there was no detectable damage. I opened the door with my spare, sat down in front of the wheel and pulled the key out immediately. Astounded, he asked how I did that. Apparently, Jeff, a certified mechanic, doesn't know that many ignitions require you to push the key in and then turn it so it can be removed. He told me he was attempting to get the key out for 15 minutes, gave up and closed the door which he didn't know was locked. He claimed it automatically locked but there's no electrical system in the doors of this Jeep. Everything's manual including the roll-up window cranks. I asked if they'd be able to repair that day and he answered saying "hopefully." We couldn't pick it up that day before closing so we left it overnight. The next day they called saying it would be over $370 for the repairs. They said it would be done at 1:00 but after arriving at 1:00 the mechanic working on it was at lunch AND HE TOOK THE JEEP KEY WITH HIM. After waiting for him to return, it turned out that they had taken some part apart but had not yet reassembled it. The diagnosis and repair didn't match up either and we had to question it. The problem was with the exhaust but they wanted to fix the intake which made no sense. A guy named Jeff said he'd take a look at Jeff's diagnosis and found that it was completely incorrect. It did not need that repair at all. In fact, they still weren't sure why the check engine light was on after having the vehicle for 2 days. They said they would just turn of that light and we should see if it comes on again. They also suspected there was some fluid pressure that wasn't right so they siphoned off some power steering fluid. How this would cause the check engine light to pop up is a mystery. The charge was just for the diagnostic since they really hadn't done anything else. My daughter drove it about 200 feet to the gas station next door. After putting gas in, THE JEEP WOULD NOT START. She ran back to the shop, livid, and said someone needs to look at this Jeep NOW because it's worse than it was before they "worked" on it. A mechanic came over and said something about when they turn off the check engine light, it can make the throttle body dirty and prevent it from starting. Why this was not addressed before releasing the vehicle is highly questionable and can become a legal issue for safety reasons. After pushing the Jeep back to the shop, he cleaned the throttle body and it started right up and then told her "see you later." Nice. This whole episode only cost $89 for the diagnostic but my daughter swears it's not running the same since they worked on it. She told them that but they said it seems fine to them. We're now unsure if it may randomly not start again or fail altogether on the freeway. These guys were clowns. They did not communicate with each other, they couldn't figure out the problem after two days, they misdiagnosed it, they locked the key in the vehicle, they didn't have it ready when promised and they released the vehicle knowing something was still possibly wrong with it (dirty throttle body) which is illegal, and the overall customer service was lousy at best. A 20 minute drive up the 57 and THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. Seriously, don't waste your time and money. Many of the 5-star reviews look like fakes. This is a REAL experience with Claremont Auto Care. read more

My car got night-dropped here by a great tow trucker (see S&J Towing) when it died out on the fwy, 100 miles from home and from destination. I spent the night in a cheap motel, got a Yellow Cab (excellent) to Claremont Auto Care. Ozee heard my specific tale of woe, and immediately ran the error codes off my car. Told me exactly what it said, told me exactly how long it would take (2-2 1/2 hrs), because they already had work they were finishing, and recommended the Starbucks across the street. Two and a half later, Ozee calls. He and Dave, one of the two who worked on my car, explained exactly what went wrong as a result of my overheat the night before, how to deal with it short-term, and what it would take to do a full repair. They did NOT lie to me or try to up-sell me, and, having been a mechanic for a while in a past life, I really appreciated the willingness of both Ozee and especially Dave to discuss and answer questions. Ozee even put a gallon jug of water in my back seat, jic, because they'd had to put a gallon of radiator mix in, and he was concerned it might still overheat. 1 hour labor, and a gallon of radiator fluid. Fair, clean charges. This is my whole-hearted recommendation, from a weary traveler, sent safely on his way. read more
