And as a hobby mechanic, sometimes my work only makes sense to me. But Mo took the car in, listened to my explanations of some of its idiosyncrasies (won't hold an idle until warm, the rad fan is manually toggled... you know sh*tbox stuff) and performed the smog. They are fully Licensed by the DMV and have gone through the rigorous process to obtain their permit. I received my smog test certification and my 2025 vehicle registration all under an Hour. Well worth it! There's a $30 service charge for DMV registration renewal. Not dealing with the hassle of long lines or having to make an appointment., again So.. worth it. read more

Don't hesitate to take your car here. Most mechanics and smog shops are shady so I took mine to Advance Auto when I saw all the 5 star reviews. The owner Moe took my car in right away and gave me the entire rundown. I needed my old Japanese car fixed to pass smog and had applied for CAP smog assistance which helps cover a portion of the costs. Typically a shop would take advantage of that and overcharge you but Moe was extremely honest, upfront and trustworthy. Any time there something would need to be done he would call and ask for approval that way there was transparency with what I was paying for. When I asked for an estimate for a particular repair he was straightforward and told me the exact cost. Not only that, but they handled taking my car to another shop to get a new catalytic converter installed. I had been expecting to pay way over $600 but only ended up paying $200 for the entire repair. They quick and reliable and it was also a very good deal. This is the 3rd time I brought my mother-in-law's 2002 Corolla in for a smog test. The last time it had a bad vacuum leak in the gas tank and they did a great job repairing it. This year it was a bad Mass Air Flow Sensor. They allowed me to give them my own part to replace it and did all the installation and testing and driving 50 miles etc and got it passed. They went above and beyond to get my car DMV ready and they are my go to spot for smogging her car. I'm glad I found them and I recommend it to anyone having issues with their car when smogging. If you have a check engine light do not get it smogged go here instead and let them test it with a meter and diagnose it first. Then get the issue fixed and test after. 1983 Toyota Pickup truck. Failed smog check at a different check only station. That other place's technician gave me suggestions that turned out to be non-effective as it failed again. My personal mechanic referred me to Advanced Auto Smog. Moe quickly figured out that the primary issue was the vacuum sensor going to the EGR as one of the ports was broken off and the vacuum system was essentially disabled. However, the part was not available from any local supplier but he helped me identify a possible solution from Ebay. It worked out and he was able to also fix the clogged vacuum tubes that filled up because it being run without being connected. The best part about the experience was that Moe was willing to work with me and take me step by step and he assisted when it looked like we couldn't find the part. In the future, I will not be going to a test-only place and will have all my smog checks done by a true smog professional, Moe. read more
