He told the other tech that we were ridiculous to watch him because he wasn't going to steal anything. Well, I never thought about that until he mentioned it. I honestly just wanted him to finish so that I can be on my way. I was staring at my car sitting in the stall not doing anything and wondered why I was still there. Another car that came in later was finished first. I told him that I heard and understood what he said. The price for the service was fair but I certainly didn't need the attitude even if it was a joke or not.

I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

Brought my old car to Danny Smog Check to get the smog done so I could get my tags. I had to choose a star certified and I remember seeing the smog check station next door to the stereo shop when I was there getting my work done. I came on a Wednesday and it was very quick. He had my car on the machine before I knew it I was done already. Unfortunately my car didn't pass smog. He was super cool about the whole thing and even told me he would re test it for free when I was ready to come back. It turns out I needed a few small thing, fortunately I had help at home getting them fixed. I went back to Danny Smog Check today to get my car re-tested and it passed! I came here after visiting the stereo shop next door. The customer service I received was amazing. They even offered me a free bottle of water because it was a hot day outside. I thought that was such a kind gesture. I checked in on Yelp and received my 5 dollars off too! Found this place back when PennySaver was still around. Danny is fast and tells you the truth about your car and honestly has the best prices. My car didn't pass first time because of the gas cap. Retested for free as soon as I replaced it. He doesn't swindle you and is reliable. Give him a like on facebook and he gives you $10 off. This is the only place I recommend to my freinds and family. read more
