Sandbox VR has some of the best virtual reality experiences on the market. I've been to their Cerritos location here several times with coworkers and I've taken family to their location at the Venetian in Las Vegas. If you're unfamiliar with them, then I'd highly recommend their zombie games (Deadwood Mansion, Deadwood Phobia) as they have the most immersive experiences. Came back on November 14 with 16 adult coworkers and we played the Stranger Things VR Game. In that game, you are one of the "kids" with the telepathic powers and you attack the demogorgons with your "powers". The gameplay reminds me of the Spiderman ride at California Adventure. I like/prefer the feel and haptics of the weapons you get to use in their zombie games, and I think that's a generally better experience. Our experience was hampered quite a bit by lag, that brought the game to a halt at several key moments. Our group also had a suboptimal experience with the onboarding process. We have been here several times, and we were a group of working adults; however, we were spoken to as if we were children who were incapable of figuring out how to put on sensors. Moreover, a third of our group, with their gear (sensors/headsets) donned in their private room, had a thirty-minute delay to start the game with no assistance from the employee who was supposed to be helping them. With the inaction, the headsets caused some to feel tired, and one of our group members left in frustration. This unexpected delay impeded our other plans, and this was unacceptable. After these issues, when we talked to this employee in charge, they said that the issue occurred "because someone else didn't do their job properly". We didn't need to know that. We just needed accountability and professionalism to get what we paid for. Because the cost per person for a game is fifty to sixty dollars per person, you expect a smooth experience when your group puts down $750+. The experience was suboptimal and our group of 16 left with a bad taste that was incongruent with our previous experiences. read more

Sandbox VR is great. The immersion is impressive, the concepts are extremely well-executed, and it's a memorable night out for friend groups, coworkers, or date night. The novelty remains strong, as it's not something you can easily replicate elsewhere. I do think it's slightly overpriced for what it is. There were a few minor tech glitches during our session that pulled us out of the moment, and when you're paying premium rates, those interruptions stand out more than they should. It didn't ruin the experience, but it did chip away at the "wow" factor a bit. Staff was fine, not particularly enthusiastic or elevating of the experience in any way. Overall: absolutely worth trying once for the sheer fun, laughter, and uniqueness. Just go in knowing it's more about the concept and novelty than flawless, concierge-level execution. read more

This Sandbox VR location is right next to the entrance of Marcy inside the mall. The staff working here are super friendly, patient with questions and always willing to help. I had very good experience here, and by far I've played their squid game virtuals, and deadwood mansion zombies, very different games but both fun. If you like the Netflix show, you'll absolutely like the squid game here, and if you like horror themed scary shooting games, you'll be thrilled by the deadwood. They have four rooms ready to set up for nine games, and I couldn't wait to come back and play more games with friends despite it's a bit pricy overall. read more

Went with a group of 4 of us and had a great time! The checkin process was straight forward and easy. We ended up choosing the New Zombie map and was honestly a fun one! Lots of pop-up scared and pretty tricky if you don't have teamwork! Ended up winning the game and felt a bit too short with 4 people - was about 20 minutes and should be more difficult with more people or something. Squid games VR experience itself was pretty fun. There were like 5-6 mini games totaling about 30 minutes of game time. It's nice to also have the experience recorded and have a video bundle sent to commemorate it. Also the mini birthday experience for birthdays at the end of the session was a great touch! The price is a big deterrent. At $60 per person for a fairly short experience I'd probably only come once every couple years considering the vast other entertainment options especially in the LA/OC area. I'm sure select people who are huge VR fanatics or place a higher value on this type of entertainment would be willing to pay that price. I think it should at least be 45 mins-1hr of game time. Also the guy working the check ins during the afternoon shift in the lobby today at 3/2 doesn't seem too friendly and not really a good fit for customer centered service. We were also told the earliest time wasn't until hours later, but the online system showed earlier bookings available, so I recommend you just book directly online to limit the unpleasant interactions with the front staff guy specifically. Some of the other staff inside seemed better trained though and much more friendly! read more

Ok, I have to say, our first experience with this place wasn't super rad, BUT VINCENT - omg this manager brought it HOME!!! The kids and my hubs had a GREAT - LIKE MEGA GREAT experience playing Davey Jones Locker and Dragon Slayer, so I definitely recommend! (Also has "fancy water" in aluminum cups - ICE COLD!!!) Originally we bought 4 $50 sets as a "Santa Gift" over the Christmas holiday (my younger kiddo wanted a VR set and I didn't want to encourage anymore solo gaming/cave time). So we bought him and his brother gift cards when we were attracted to the PROMO - which essentially leveled up the gaming experience by almost 50%. But we weren't able to reserve online. In person we were originally told to wait 4 hours. And our promos were suddenly not valid. This wasn't Vincent's doing, I think it was corporate and I hope corporate revises. Vincent was awesome. The experience was AWESOME!!!! The venue is awesome, clean, super friendly staff. Amazing! read more

Took my sister here for her birthday yesterday, just for a little fun before taking her out to dinner. We signed up for the Squid Game Virtuals since we both enjoyed the show. It far exceeded my expectations. It was a lot of fun. A lot more fun than I was expecting, tbh. The games were really engaging and the people we were in the room with were a lot of fun as well. It was lively with a lot of laughs. My sister enjoyed it so much, she wanted to do another right after so she picked Deadwood Phobia... a zombie shooter game. Intense but fun experience. The staff is really great, answering all our questions and being helpful with everything. It was a fantastic experience and we had a really great time. Just know that unless you book a private room, you will be with other people. Fortunately for us, both groups we were with were terrific and a lot of fun. I've been to sandbox at the Topanga Village so I wanted to try the Cerritos's location. It's not as big but it's very similar with multiple rooms. You can pretty much get an appointment no matter what day or time it is. It was a weekend and I booked the night before and tweaked my reservation the day of. They let me switch my game as well! That was great because we weren't sure if we wanted to Fight, zombies or aliens lol I've done squid games and Amber sky. I want to try deadwood valley next. read more

Virtual Reality Birthday! Purple Haze Alien Rebels shooting up a mining facility on a moon! Lets goooo! Wow, what a workout! Who knew shooting at enemies would be so much work?! My legs are gonna be soooo sore tomorrow! But man was it so much fun! We're ready to do a different theme already next month! Best VR experience ever! Totally worth it! I am super prone to motion sickness and I was totally fine! The head gear made me a bit panicky at first but I'm high anxiety so it was totally a ME issue. I got over it once the game started and I got distracted and became totally immersed. We did the Rebel Moon experience. Our VR Host was Alex and he was super helpful and patient when some of my team members cancelled and also was a bit late. Plus putting on our wrist and ankle gear was confusing. Expect to get sweaty so wear comfy clothes. I highly recommend knee pads too if you're doing an experience where you have to dodge and hide. The hosts are constantly monitoring you during the experience to make sure everyone is safe so it's odd that another reviewer mentioned she felt like it was an invasion of privacy. LOL Anyway! Came here to celebrate my birthday with my son and fiance. We played the squid games themed vr room and the three of us absolutely loved it! The staff was kind, and helped my son put on his ankle sensor while my fiance and I were putting ours on. Sandbox is very immersive, and at the end there was a surprise vr experience celebrating my birthday. We loved it, and can't wait to go back to try out another themed room! The game play itself was sooooooo real and fun. It's excitement from start to finish. My wife and I did Deadwood valley. The zombie attack was fast paced and it requires a lot of team work. Pay attention, zombies and "things" come from alllllll directions. I loved the location to which was in a mall so we grabbed some food afterwards. A lot of outdoor parking available too. The games are quite fun. The customer service sucks. There's a few nice people in there, but enough with poor people skills. I've played all three zombie games, one of them twice. Recently, I played the fantasy game. The fantasy game was very glitchy. We paused the game at least six times and it still didn't fix all of the issues for us, but we just ended up powering through. It needs to be updated. No refund or discount offered. We were just kind of ignored as we complained about the game. It didn't even upload our gameplay video properly like it had for the 4 times I played the zombie games. As far as service, the last time there was one male that seemed to not want to do his job. We tried to walk in and he said he wouldn't get to us for at least a couple of hours. We just went to the website and paid for a timeslot fifteen minutes away.... Prior to that, and months earlier. I needed to refund two tickets. I called multiple times, left voicemails, and sent an email. Multiple days before the reservation. (They have a 24 hour return policy) or at least did at the time. They never returned my call or emails. Refused to give me a refund in person. Argues with me over later emails, until finally giving me credit to come back. So, there's a couple nice and reasonable people working there. But enough unpleasant people that as soon as a similar vr company opens up near me I'll switch to playing games at that company. read more

We just celebrated my son's 7th birthday at VR Sandbox, and once again, Vincent made the experience absolutely incredible! This was our second time coming here, and we were thrilled to see that Vincent was helping us again--he was just as friendly, patient, and knowledgeable as we remembered. Also, another gentleman helped us and was absolutely helpful and patient with us - unfortunately I didn't get his name. :( Vincent went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, kept the kids engaged, and made my son feel extra special on his big day. Was a bad experience, but wasn't the best either. The equipment was super glitchy, and the Tecs tried their best to rectify the situation, but you could tell this is an ongoing issue. My husband and I did make the most out of the experience. We took pictures and made tik toks, engaged with our teammates, and waited until we were up and running. We managed to get through our experience, but it wasn't the same as I mentioned, It was glitchy. Had it been a better connection, I know we would have had a better experience. But hey, we were able to spend time together and make more memories. I'm glad we were able to have that together. Be mindful of the equipment issues, and if you can get past that, it's actually a cool experience. read more

This place was super awesome! This was our first time doing anything VR and our group very much enjoyed it! However, I don't think we will be coming back to the location. One of the people in our group had their Apple watch go missing. Fortunately he was able to track it and it was still at the VR place so he had to wait until morning because the staff was gone by the time he had gone back. We were the last ones of the night and I personally checked the storage ottoman to make sure we didn't forget anything as I also had loose items. But with all the excitement he didn't notice it was gone until after they drove away. Over all good experience, but I'm giving 3 stars because of the employee who took the watch. Not cool because you are literally blind to any surroundings and this employee had to have done through the items to take it. Note to the employee if you read this, the Apple Watch tracks its every movement so yes, your home address popped up and then somehow ended back at the place of business? Come on man. read more

14th November, 2025 was probably my 5th/ 6th time visiting this place. I have loved every game they offer and its so much fun with friends and colleagues. However, on that day, my experience took a turn and we that included 5 friends and me had to wait for 40 minutes for our game to be start with our head sets on. We kept asking for help and staff kept telling us that they are working on the game and will resume shortly. Now, I am really scared to invite my friends to this location as those whose first experience was spoilt, they probably never want to visit again. read more

I came here with my fiance and kids to play the Deadwood Mansion VR game, even though it was a bumpy start as one of the kid's equipment kept malfunctioning, we absolutely had a great time, 45 mins of non-stop virtual action, annihilating zombies! I was like a wet puppy when we finished ha ha The room where we played is nice and spacious, the staff who assisted us was very courteous and attentive to remedy the equipment problem at hand instantly, amidst the little hiccup, we had a fantastic time! We were able to get a reservation for a game day of pretty easily. When we arrived, we were told there was technical difficulties so all games were delayed but nit wasnt too much of a delay. The game was fun but after they suit you up and strap you into the gear it feels very wet and grimey and then while you play you get pretty sweaty despite the fans. She was even so kind as to include a custom birthday video. I would only deduct half a star b/c the head gear seemed to not be disinfected & smelled quite a bit. Came to celebrate my annivesary. Chose the Deadwood Valley, which was super fun! This experience was a blast and it was pretty long, like ~30-40 mins. Love the weapon choices. Some cons was that the price is super steep ($110 for 2 people). Furthermore, the vests were smelly from sweat and the headsets were so heavy on my head. It left a headset mark on my face. Make sure you are wearing athletic wear. read more
