I ended up at this place after researching what was local. I called to see if I needed reservations the guy said no. I get there and it's closed but it says they open at 11:30 it's now 12:30. I have 4 kids that are impatient but we wait around until a gal comes back stating she was sent to do something else... We finally get and as a first timer I would have liked a lil more direction. I got the virtual ride for the girls which was done in 10 mins. The boys were supposed to be boxing each other but my nephew whom needs help because he is autistic ( I explained this to the young lady) needed a one on one. This spot is why we keep coming back to the otherwise meh South Bay Galleria mall. Ernesto seems to always be there, and has great energy and is great with the kids! Him and Jeff are both very positive and Helpful. It's worth getting an hour for $35 instead of a $15 for 15 min. It takes a bit to get used to playing and getting into the games themselves. They have some New awesome games like Walking Dead and Serious Sam. Kiddos like Merry snowballs and Job simulator. read more

A fun experience. This game is a little scary to PG 13 level, but theme is R rated (Jack the Ripper). Note: VR googles here don't work with glasses. So just beware. We had one person with glasses and she couldn't see well. We did a game at Dreamscape VR before and those work with glasses. Location: South Bay Galleria (2nd floor). It's literally just one open space. Game: Wax Room, Jack the Ripper. 20 mins. Service: staff is very nice but not very helpful with giving instructions. Experience: you wear VR goggles, headphones, and backpack with the PC. This game you can pretty much free roam, except each level is timed, so you do have to move on to next level when time is up. There are a LOT of clues to pick up. There are also a lot of riddle type clues you have to read and MEMORIZE (since clues are virtual, you can't take them with you as you progress to read again). That is a major downside. There are also creepy things and things that jump out at you, small scares, but really distracted us from the clues. We didn't really figure out what we needed to do and how to manage the clues until the end. So we didn't ID Jack the Ripper and got VR killed in the end. The VR was good, but the clues and instructions could be better. The equipment is also not quite as good as Dreamscape. read more

Absolutely love this place. It meets all my sons expectations therefore its great for me. Flat scrren tvs all updated equipment maintained and staff provides assistance and are patient with every type of player. Beginners- novice- or expert they have you covered. There is also a VR ride outside that is 3-5 mints long. The store is immaculate Just remember to be patient because may have to wait to play. The VR Place at the Galleria Mall, Redondo Beach, is where my godson asked to go for his 22nd birthday. We paid and reserved our spots in advance via their website. We brought along his siblings, ages 11, 16 & 18. They absolutely loved it & I was blown away by the VR Place employees who go above & beyond to make the experience awesome for everyone. Initially we worked with Jeffrey and when he went on break, we worked with Cayden (I hope I'm remembering their names correctly). They set the kids up with different games to their liking. Their sister didn't want the scary games so she did a musical coordination game and then later a shooting game with less gore that she loved- she even played against the boys and beat them for most targets hit! One of the kids has a light sensitivity issue that has potential for causing seizures (he plays video games no problem- but not VR)- still he wanted to come along anyway knowing he might not play--so I asked if he could just briefly see how he felt in the VR equipment just for 1-2 minutes & we prepared him for how to quickly remove the VR goggles. He decided he wasn't comfortable. So the employee, Jeffrey, seeing how one kid wasn't able to play, took it upon himself to come over & talk with him. Jeffrey was the most positive peer influence I could've asked for. He encouraged him in so many great ways & then Cayden stepped in when Jeffrey had to leave & she did the same! I just sat on the couch provided there, listening to these employees in awe & our kid was really loving talking with them too. So three of the kids were playing & having a blast and the one sibling not playing was being encouraged by these incredible, creative & hardworking employees- amazing. Initially, I thought the cost was high per hour -but then being there, experiencing it, I realize now how much we called on the employees to help & change the games, etc. Plus they keep the equipment clean, the atmosphere fun and very cool. We all made a plan to come back. I never dreamed it would be such a great experience. Major score! The equipment worked perfectly by the way, no delays or interruptions at all. My advice is reserve & pay in advance. It was busy right before we left. We had a 6:30pm appointment. read more

My husband and my son went into The BATTLEGROUND VR place on the 2nd floor next to Kohl's. And they couldn't stop talking about it. They had a one on one vr battle where they fought against each other and moved around believing they were in different floors. In the video my husband is shooting down because he sees my son on the second floors while he was standing on the ledge on the fourth floor. You can play up to 4 players. I'm going to join them next time so I can truly understand what he is talking about. They raved about how friendly the staff were and how they work hard to enhance the VR experience. read more

This place exceeded FIVE stars!!! Some of the games my kids played were smashbox, revolver(their favorite) and superhot. It was $29 am hour and they each played for an hour. We went during the week so it wasn't busy. I called and reserved 3 spots. The staff was very nice and informative. We will definitely return for more VR. read more

Not sure why there are no options for zero stars. Came here because my son wanted to try it out and we had time to spare before the move across the way. We were not acknowledged for at least 5 minutes once we arrived. The female sales lady then asked how she could help and we let her know what we wanted. She then said the male would be right with us to help us out on our request. Was then ignored for another 10 minutes, he then verified what we wanted then went to talk to other customer's. Waited another 15 minutes watching them both assist people who came after us. I watched the excitement leave my 8 year old and the disappointment was all over his body language. We then had to leave as our movie was getting closer to starting. My son lowered his head a cried. Not cool to disappoint a child like that. read more

Amazing place with an affordable price! I loved The Poisoner & The Wax House because of the immersion element and their scary themes. If you have a group with at least one jumpy person, it will be hilarious! Also playing Revolver and the shooting zombies game (don't quite remember the name of that one) was tons of fun! You honestly lose track of time when playing these games just because it's entertaining. These games were on the more edgier side but they definitely have games for younger kids as well. They do have Beat Saber which is a cool game to play for all ages and you won't have to walk around but you do still move! I would advise people to maybe bring some comfortable shoes and clothes to play because it can be a workout! Some athletic clothing would actually be the best. this review is specifically for the jack the ripper and poisoner experiences. this establishment opened just a couple of months ago, as of this writing. they're affiliated with the quest room escape company, and that level of quality shows. unlike other VR arcades, you are set up with a mobile back pack rig that allows you to roam the space. it is amazing for immersion being able to wander around a large floor space. also, the price is very competitive for this sort of establishment. it's $25 per person for a 30 - 45 minute experience, which is very competitive when compared to similar experiences like the void and dreamscape. both the jack the ripper and poisoner games are cooperative, escape-the-room style experiences, and both are very creepy. definitely bring friends, especially if they're jumpy. jack the ripper puts you and your friends in the role of plague doctor investigators trying to uncover the true killer behind the infamous murders. jack the ripper also features a really cool "preshow" that takes place in a decorated back room set, complete with lighting, sound, and practical effects (super fun, if you're an escape room enthusiast, like me). the poisoner has you playing as modern day police officers investigating the home of a notorious serial killer. in my opinion, the poisoner was the stronger of the two, both in terms of graphics and gameplay, though both are well worth your time and money. i'm dinging a star simply because the employees who happened to be working that day had not played the poisoner, and did not understand just how scary the experience was. before playing, i asked the attendant about the poisoner's content, trying to set my expectations. i wasn't given a definitive answer. turns out, the game has multiple jump scares, and also has some scenarios that were triggering to my gaming partner (snakes, cages, violent men in small spaces). while it was fun after the fact, i could have gone without screaming at full volume in the middle of the mall at 3 in the afternoon. besides that, i highly recommend this place. free roaming VR escape rooms are an excellent innovation in the escape room market. read more

This was so much fun!! I took a group of coworkers to do something different for a team building thing and we had a blast!! Kenji and Ray were very helpful and patient with our large group. I was just expecting to sit in a chair and look at some things but it was an experience. We were SWEATING. The shooter games were probably my favorite cuz it felt so interactive. The escape room games were creepy but so immersive. And we watched them wipe down the VR Rigs between each use which was very comforting to see. A very clean location as well. Easy to find. I suggest coming with a big group cuz it's fun to watch other people do it. BRING A BOTTLE OF WATER. YOU WILL SWEAT. read more

The worker didn't mention that these headsets only let you play ONE GAME per payment, and the game we chose was not working properly. Had a great father-son outing today at VR Place in the South Bay Galleria! Shot at each other with 6-shot revolvers, and then invading orcs with bow and arrows! My son, who is 5 tried this VR place at South Bay Galleria mall 3x's with in 2 months. It's casual and staff is helpful with a good amount of friendliness. He played the store counter worker game and cooking in the kitchen game. I think he played 30 minutes and an hour long the other times. My only concern is that I don't see the employees wiping the eye wear/ head gear with sanitizer for each customer. So I'll probably ask if I can wipe it oFF with antibacterial wipes Nxt time. Price is a bit high $20 dollars for an hour. My son did like it ALOT and wants to come again as often as I'll take him. It seems ok for occasional activity for him while I shop but I'd rather him go to the dinosaur jumping and museum at the mall. We GO there often as it has more active, interactive and amazing things to play On. read more
