Things have really changed here over the years, and unfortunately, not for the better. The atmosphere feels tired and neglected--an old Sandals sign made out of faux greenery still hangs on the wall, the pictures and mismatched furniture look dated, the manicure chairs are uncomfortable, and there wasn't even any music playing. The service was equally disappointing. There was no hand soak during the manicure, and the polish was not applied down to the cuticle, leaving the nails looking like they had grown out already. The pedicure felt rushed: my feet were not soaked long enough, and my toenails were barely trimmed, even after I specifically asked. The toe dividers were placed in between the big toes before the protective slippers were put on. Since the slippers had very little support between the toes, they kept slipping off and smudged the polish on my big toe. However, they didn't fix it, and I noticed after leaving. For the price, I expected much better care, attention to detail, and concern for the finished result. Overall, the experience felt subpar and was not worth the cost. read more

I came in to get a gel manicure on 4/15 around 6pm - I had a gel manicure from this place a month prior - and I've been cut both times. The first time by a newer employee, the second time was worse, by Nancy. She cut me while doing my cuticles. She tried to stop the bleeding by putting this powder on it that burned. I told her I would stop service and come back another time since I was bleeding quite a lot. She kept pushing me to continue. She NEVER said sorry and kept saying "it's ok it's ok" and then I said "but won't you use your brush to polish - its blood" implying that my blood would get in the polish probably, and she just said "no it's ok it won't"... again, never saying sorry and not thinking about the sanitary consequences. Then upon leaving she said nothing - just looked at me and said "thank you" Will not be coming back and will be writing a review. The fact that she didn't say sorry at all is far beyond poor customer service and I fear for this place in terms of sanitary standards and cleanliness. EDIT: see the attached response from the salon - no details of sanitary procedures, did not address the concerns and willingness to paint regardless of the blood, and said it was immediately cleaned which was not true. Would like to see the camera footage they are describing and a list of "cleaning" materials they used. read more

Quick spot to get nails done in a pinch - walk in appointments are not the way to go. Went in for gel manicure and left with mediocre nails. Did not clean nails fully. Only filed and buffed. No cuticle care either. Gel three coats with base and top. Polish did over saturate and get on skin when cured - was not cleaned up. No hand lotion after. Nothing fancy. For 30$ and tip not worth it. WAY TOO OVERPRICED!!! I spent $140 on a gel mani pedi. The end result wasn't the best - so splotchy and patchy. A regular pedicure is $45 and adding gel makes it $20. With the manicure being $35. AND on top of that $5 for removing gel for both hands and feet (10$ total). I usually go to Spa Envy but they were closed but their prices and quality is WAY BETTER! I was shocked at the total. Just meh. I went in for a basic pedicure but it was pretty much just a polish change. Barely soaked, no cuticle work, no exfoliating the bottom of my feet. Scrub was applied, barely and immediately rinsed off and the massage was the quickest ever. Hot towel removed immediately like it was being checked off the list. Not even 30 minutes spent. At this point I just hope the polish lasts. On the plus side the place was clean and the ladies were nice. read more

The person this time wasn't as good at shaping than the girl previously but she still did a good job and my nails looked nice. It was $35 to take off my last dip and do a new power dip manicure. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is that both times I've come here the top shiny coat started peeling the second day. After 2 weeks most of the nails had the top coat completely off as it peels. Other times I've gotten dips from different locations it fades rather than peels. read more

I got my fill and design there and I received my first 3-D design and I LOVED IT. it was soooo pretty, I had white flowers with a light pink glitter nail color. Amy took her time to do it, which is a MUST when you are going to wear that design for two weeks. and I got so many compliments from my friends! I made an appointment for 6:00 PM because that was the earliest that they could get me in, and they close at 7:00 PM. I was really sketch about this because I hate nail shops rushing with my nails. I got the french tips with two 3-D designs on my ring fingers. + she asked if I wanted gel ... so I did.. and that all added up to $40. I've never paid sooo much before for my nails to be done. I think this was okay. My nails were crooked, and I don't know why people always say they think it's clean and all that. It's the same as the salons in the Souffend, which I like. It sucks because I'm too passive about complaining... so I don't. I suck it up. The good thing about Sandal's is that they are young, and they they only use OPI, China Glaze or Orly. Otherwise, they're okay. I've had better and I probably won't return. read more

I came here three days ago and I'm not unhappy with my experience but it wasn't worth the drive. The initial gel polish removal she did burned my nails and I had to to let her know. Lan also trimmed off my cuticles with the same little drill looking machine she used to shave off my gel polish. My fingers still hurt today from how hard it was on my skin. My thumbs and pinky's took most of the beating. She did apologize but it shouldn't have happened after the first finger. Ambiance is also non existent here so that takes away from the relaxation aspect of being pampered. I adore this place! Amy and her team member did such a wonderful job on my nails. Amy is wonderful to chat with and very knowledgeable in her field. I just showed her a picture of what I wanted and she took care of color selection and matched my toes perfectly which seems to be difficult since I get shellac on my manicure and not on my pedicure. Note to those poor girls out there who have ratchet feet, like me: Sandals is good, but not a "scrub the crap out of your feet" type pedicure. They tidy you up, but they don't go industrial on your feet. Personally, I NEED (not just want) pedicures with an auto body shop-type approach. I also need them to top coat the heck out of my toenails because I chip my polish in a heartbeat. You certainly get your $25 worth from the pedicure, don't get me wrong. They massage your legs a bit and have massage chairs...but if you have ugly feet like mine, you may need more TLC than they provide. The scrubbing, cuticle trimming, etc is nominal (fine for people with nice feet) and the polish is laid on the thin side. It is a testimony to Sandals that their regulars have taken time to write in and sing their praises...watching the two women that run the salon, it is clear they take on their regulars as girlfriends and take good care of them. They remember details of their client's particular needs or recent chips or breaks and happily chat. However, if you are not a regular - service is a little different. They're friendly but not going out of their way for you. YOU have to earn their loyalty! I don't judge that...I don't think there's anything wrong with a small business catering to their devoted. It's just worth noting... If I keep visiting them when in town, I may boost up a star...but for now, solid 3. read more

I went here after seeing the amazing nail art. I decided to get a fill with design and pedicure. I was getting my nails painted at the pedicure chair to the side and out of no where SOOO MUCH PAIN in my big toe!!!!! I looked to see that the lady used the cuticle tool (blunt rounded metal tool) and dug it into the side of my toe between my nail and toe. She had no idea how much pain that she caused. I tried to wait it out and soon enough within a minute blood surrounded my toe nail. She said "sorry?" confused and wiped it with a towel. Then she put some blue liquid which i don't know what it was and it stopped the bleeding. Sure enough my foot went back in the water. She continued to grab me by the big toe she hurt me and I had to tell her "DO NOT SQUEEZE MY BIG TOE, IT HURTS BAD!" she just said OK. The girl who was painting my nails looked at it like it was no big deal. As I waited for my toes to dry i hoped the pain would subside. I finally got up to put on my flip flops and tremendous amount of pain went to my toe. As I walked to the desk to pay, i slipped around in my flip flops because she did not wipe away the excess lotion/oil. My feet were so oiling I could barely make it without them falling off. They told me $52. I asked for a discount/compensation for her making me bleed and they replied "we don't do that". I am FURIOUS that i paid for a overly expensive pedicure and came out injured. I then limped to the car and wiped my feet and sandals off with napkins so I could drive properly. The evening came and my foot felt terrible still. I put neosporin and a band-aid along with some tissue and medical tape making a soft cast. I could not sleep at all. I finally fell asleep around 2:30am and woke up at 7am to an amazing amount of pain still. I got up and as the blood went to my toe i about cried. I called to leave a message to get an appointment with a doctor. I am hoping the pain will go away by Monday but I am now worried it could be infected, as now below my toe is red (and there was no trauma there). My toe now (day 2) is very red on the side where she plunged that tool in between my toe and nail and is inflamed causing a slight bump. I know people make mistakes but the owner did not care to compensate me or even talk to me about it. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I loved the job they do on nails but this other older lady was terrible. Her massage felt like an 8 year old's. No pressure whatsoever and used her nails in some sort of scratching technique.. uh.. no one wants to be scratched during a massage. I Will NEVERRRRRRR come back. I am also going onto http://www.dol.wa.gov/business/cosmetology/coscomplaint.html (WA State Licensing) to file a complaint about this place License Number: 33409. Seems like hurting their customers is okay to them and they didn't even try to make me feel better by giving me a refund or not charging me. I AM POSTING MY PICTURES!!! read more

I was excited to try Sandals since its just a few blocks from my home and it had such great Yelp reviews. I went last weekend for a pedicure and took my boyfriend along...I am more than disappointed and will NOT be going back. My biggest complaint was the quality of the pedicure. The woman doing it was very rough--while filing, cleaning under the toenails, and trimming the cuticles. I kept thinking "is it me?" but I've had pedicures at many different salons and I've never had someone hurt me so much with some nail tools! On multiple occasions, she snipped more than just the cuticle, and I flinched and said "ouch!" A few of my toes are still sore from the butchering, and about an hour after our pedicure, my boyfriend looked down and one of his toenails was covered in blood from the cuticle being cut too far. I am also disappointed in how my polish turned out. Its not neat and there's polish on my skin/cuticle around the nail. I am surely not expecting a perfect pedi when I pay $25, but it should at least look okay. The last thing that bothered me was when my pedicurist got up to answer her personal cell phone during my pedicure. It just didn't seem professional. It would be one thing if it was the salon's phone, but I am not paying someone to chat with their friend in the middle of my pedi! The one pro about my visit to Sandals: the massage. It was wonderful, and long, and the only part of the pedicure that I enjoyed. read more
