    Breakfast!
    Jens J.

This a very good eatery for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is Salvadorean but there are several American-style breakfasts as well. I highly recommend the corn atole, a not overly sweet pureed drink. Delicious! Often times they also have a pineapple atole which contains, logically enough, bits of pineapple. Of the two atoles, I prefer the corn atole. I find the pineapple atole heavily spiced and too sweet. On my last visit, I ordered a plate with pancakes, a hefty hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and a round of sausage. A very decent price, especially when compared to other local diners. I have to do a shout-out for the scrambled eggs. I don't know how they prepared them, but they were especially tasty! Casual atmosphere with lots and lots of tables. You order at the counter, take a number, and they bring your food out to you.

I've ordered the birria tacos (they come in 4) from this place countless times these few months. The employees provided excellent service each and every time I came here. My mom thinks these are the best tacos she'd ever had.

Lived next to here for years and never thought of stopping by until some rave reviews from coworkers and friends. Finally stopped in for a quick dinner and my husband and I were pleasantly surprised. The place felt very clean and the ladies working there were extremely helpful, sweet and patient while we looked over the menu with questions. We tried several dishes including the Pollo Guisado, pupusas, chicharrón and baleadas. Everything was good to great! Felt like Spanish soul food, home cooking. Husband went back the next morning for tamales which were good.

It was a Saturday night and most fast casual restaurants (and Trader Joe's) were closed. A friend mentioned a Vietnamese place may be open in the plaza and it had relocated. Multiple cars out front and welcoming lights made this my best choice. ...and it was! The shrimp surprised me from its light char, succulent meat, and a sauce I wish they sold on the side (it was too good - more was needed). I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. The tres leches cake was ...ok. ...but I will return for this shrimp dish!

Loved this restaurant and it has gone downhill at least from the beginning of this year I have noticed. People helping up front are nice. Reason for 1 . I ordered pastelitos today and I should of known better. They were cooked in rancid oil . I didn't even have to taste them I could smell it as soon as I opened the take out box. I have previously ordered them 2 times before and gave them the benefit of the doubt then also. But enough with giving them chances to correct it. Management/owners please train your cooks to clean out oil and I hope you are not the ones encouraging them not to , to save a few pennies

I was so excited when I saw the grand opening sign for this restaurant! I love to try new places! This bright and cheery Salvadorian restaurant is staffed with the friendliest people. 5 star staff, for sure. My husband ordered the Sopa de Mariscos. Of course, he shared his massive portion with me. It is served with white rice and tortillas. The broth is lovely and chock full of seafood goodness. All manner of seafood grace this impressive serving of soup. My husband was impressed to find a full blue crab swimming in the divine broth. I ordered the Platanos Fritos. It fulfilled a craving. It was perfection! It was a plate full of deep-fried, starchy goodness. It is served with sour cream and beans. Please eat them with the accompaniments; you won't be disappointed . With a successful first visit under our belt, we will definitely be back.

The actual restaurant feels massive but decorated in a rustic way. I want to give a huge shout out to Alicia. She is such a knowledgeable, approachable, and receptive server. She was on top of refilling drinks, making sure we weren't left alone for too long when we were waiting for our food to come, and just had an overall amazing energy. While we really enjoy all of the servers we've had at Mikes, Alicia takes the cake. If there's any way to provide her with recognition, I would highly vouch for it. She could sell me anything on that menu with that kind of personality! Thank you, Alicia! I'm going to make sure we try to get seated at your table again.

I visited Mike's American after coming across it on Resy and was able to get a same-day reservation…read morefor two on Easter Sunday. As expected, it was busy, but the restaurant does have a fairly large parking lot which made arrival easier. The setup was interesting. After checking in downstairs, I was given a ticket and directed upstairs for seating. I took the elevator, which offered a clear view of the kitchen below as it ascended... definitely a unique touch. Upstairs, another host staff guided us to our table. The space had a lively feel, roaring with chatter from customers, and I could see parts of the kitchen where food was being prepared over an open flame, which added to the overall atmosphere. For the food, we started with the calamari. It was cooked well and had a nice texture, especially paired with the crispy onion shoestrings, which added a good crunch and flavor. It was served over a lobster sauce, although the lobster flavor wasn't very noticeable. The main issue was the salt level... it was quite heavy! I did enjoy it overall, but I would only recommend it to someone who doesn't have to watch their sodium intake. For entrées, I ordered the steak cooked medium with broccolini. The dish automatically comes with mashed potatoes, and while I was able to substitute the salad for broccolini, there didn't seem to be flexibility with the potatoes. After tasting the mashed potatoes, I wish I was offered to substitute it as it tasted like the brown box we grew up on where you just added water. When the food came out, the steak was closer to medium-well or well done rather than medium, and both the mashed potatoes and broccolini were a bit cold. I chose not to send it back since we waited but it did affect the overall experience. My guest ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs were well-prepared--tender with a clean pull off the bone--and were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were also very good and came out hot. The coleslaw wasn't as well received, described as having too many of the tougher parts of the cabbage. Overall, the experience had some positives, especially in terms of atmosphere and certain menu items like the ribs and fries. While I did enjoy parts of the meal, it's not somewhere I would personally return to, but it may be worth trying once to form your own opinion.

It was around 10am, so not many people, but it did start getting full. It's open, the booths are big and comfy, typically if you come to First Watch on the weekend it's packed, so it was nice to have a stress free experience. SERVICE: They are kind and to the point. My bf is in tech so he has a habit of taking his laptop everywhere-- I tend to think there are certain places you can have laptops and certain places where you can't. First Watch is one of those places where I'm like eh.... Maybe not. But I did! We didn't stay long and only had our laptops open for the meal, but no one said anything so it was solid. Additionally, I didn't know what I wanted to eat because I wanted to be a little adventurous so I ask the waitress what I should get. I am sometimes hesitant to ask bc I always feel they're going to upcharge me instead of giving me their opinion, but I don't believe she did thank and I was grateful! Wish I got her name. FOOD: So, for me she suggested the chilaquiles. I trusted her input and ordered that! I was hesitant because, traditionally, that dish is typically very heavy and spice-based, and I didn't know if I wanted to start the day off with food like that, but it was SO GOOD. Lots of flavors. I was very happy. First Watch is always a treat. Fresh food and good times!

The place is nice and clean, and our server was great and very quick despite it being insanely busy, which felt like a small miracle in itself. One note for the public: arrive early, because there is usually a wait and clearly many others have already caught on. Everything we got was really good, and it was one of those meals where you keep saying "wait, try this" across the table. I especially loved the french toast and bacon, and the chocolate chip pancakes were also fire. The brunch drinks absolutely deserve a mention too because the spiked lavender lemonade was delicious and fully earned an encore appearance from me. No regrets there. Overall, the food was fresh, the drinks were fun, and the whole brunch just really hit. This was a very strong showing for a busy brunch spot, and I will definitely be back.

The place is 24/7 and it is a big plus for those who can't find anything around Springfield when it's late. When it's late night, it can be kind of rough when it's packed with people coming from the bar next door or just a sudden group of hungry people wanting their breakfast fix. Like any breakfast places, it's quick, it's cheap, and affordable at a reasonable price. I went with what was comfort for me; Country Fried Steak with Scrambled Eggs and Hash Browns with White Toast. The sausage gravy that the used on the Country Fried Steak? It elevates it to a whole new level. Eggs tasted buttery, and Hash Browns crispy with a nice side of grease coming to it. I can't really complain because this is something I eat once in a while but it's my guilty pleasure. Overall, you can't go wrong with Bob & Edith's. They are just open at any time and you are rest assured that your breakfast will be good as mine.

There was a second birthday party in full swing, yet the family who owns the restaurant greeted us with such warmth and kindness and invited us to sit wherever we felt comfortable. I asked whether the Caesar dressing contained anchovies due to a pregnancy restriction, and although our server wasn't completely sure, he handled it with care and thoughtfulness. He brought the dressing on the side and offered to swap it entirely out of an abundance of caution, which meant a lot and showed how much they value their guests' comfort. And the food. Absolutely delicious. Every dish tasted fresh and authentic, and the sauces alone are worth coming back for. You can tell everything is made with intention and pride. What really makes this place special, though, is the feeling you leave with. By the end of dinner, it doesn't feel like you just ate at a restaurant. It feels like you were welcomed into a family. Eggs & Sushi is one of those hideouts and if you're not careful, might end up eating 7k calories before you leave. You'll only know this place exists if you live or work in the Lorton area where Eggs & Sushi stands firm. If not for Google Maps, you may drive on by without a thought. I stopped because their simple sign but just some quirky in a strange way caught my eye and it's in the middle of a warehouse street where you would not expect food places to be. Surprisingly, there are always little cafes in these kind of places that feed the immediate workers there. They are sometimes the hidden gems nobody will hear about unless you work in that area. This is one of them. Walking in, it feels like a small diner, yellow walls, lots of menu above the grill area displayed on multiple screens, properly lit dining area. They take orders at the end and at a kiosk as well. Window seats, couple of tables, and some bar seats also. Seems simple enough but this place is the ultimate trap for the hungry. Be careful! When you look up, you realize they have a vast menu and varied in the most fantastic way. You have your generic American style food, eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, sandwiches, coffee, smoothie, an all day breakfast menu. Then you keep walking around to look at the menu, you see sushi, rolls, poke bowls, ramen, some dons, etc. You might think, hmm, they might be overloaded on the menu. Wrong! They make fantastic sandwiches! Smaller not overpriced ramen but with lots of oomph flavor! These guys bring the umami and drip it like masters. The dons hit, the ramen hits, the sandwiches hit, and my all time favorite breakfast item, the elegantly simple French toast hits. They are serving hits here and only a few know about it.
