Updating my review since I haven't written one in over a decade. This place is still solid. Still the same small local spot, still huge portions. I look at the one star reviews and am sad because this place is pretty good. The chupe de camarones is supposed to be a chowder/soup... So I'm kind of laughing at the one star review that says it came out soupy.... That's literally what the dish is supposed to be. Normally it is a bit thicker and more on the chowder side, but I think the flavor makes up for the wateryness. It's so large that I couldn't finish and the to go container was like the size of a sherbet bucket. The tamale was really good and the chicharrón wasn't overcooked. I don't like it when it's too dry and too fried and this was pretty good. My spouse got the leche de tigre which he liked, but I really liked the cancha (fried corn kernels) that it came with -- they do a really good job with them. Crispy, not too dry, nice and salty. Overall I'm glad this place is still here. I think the local Peruvians know it's a solid spot so it's still standing... Don't let these picky reviewers keep you from trying some authentic no-frills Peruvian cuisine! If you're a patient but true foodie you won't be disappointed.

The lomo saltado was so good, definitely recommend. Service is okay, no one gets you from the door. You go to the front to order and sit where ever you want. Ambiance is okay, it's kinda small in here but that lomo saltado is torch

Mi Rico Peru is a very good place to get Peruvian food. It is not fancy decor or plating; it's is basic good food served from a very good staff with a positive attitude. I've eaten here a few times. The trio fajitas plate is good, but not glamorous. The sauce is too much like tomato sauce and the cut of steak is mildly tough and lacks flavor. Overall, it is still a good plate, especially for the inexpensive price. The last time I ate there, I had steak tacos. Again, good tacos, but needs more flavor. Overall, this Mi Rico Peru is a 4 star for the genre of restaurant it serves. I'm not comparing it to 5 star dinner. It's a 4 star compared to other local ethnic food restaurants. This Mi Rico Peru is a recommend.

Went for a pickup order a ceviche and chupe de camarones. The ceviche was so salty I brought it back in the added more lime and gave back to me it still was very salty. She said she would make me a new one when I got home and tried it, it tasted as if they just added water to the ceviche it had no taste no flavor. She definitely didn't just prepare it because the fish wasn't fresh. El chupe de camarones was terrible no seafood taste there was three pieces of shrimp it was very disappointing we were really looking forward to having a good meal

PLEASE!!!! If you're going to serve my community your food be extra careful and mindful! I ordered from your Springfield location on 8/5/22 and the food was delicious as always but while I was delighted and busy with my jaw, I wondered why it felt like hard pieces of something that shouldn't be there and in the mist of swallowing it I spat it out of my mouth and saw 2 significantly large pieces of plastic. Pictures of different angles attached! I thank God this time I didn't swallow ⁉

The ceviche is really good, can never go wrong with ceviche, especially if you're going tapas style. The ají de gallina, lomo saltado and lamb are so freaking good, the meat is tender, the sauces are perfection, and when you mix the rice to with the sauce it's absolutely delicious. You can definitely taste some Cantonese influences. Corazón: Very unique. The beef heart was grilled very tender, and the spicy and tangy dipping sauce was refreshing. I've also never had such large kernels of sticky corn before. Lomo Saltado: Similar to Cantonese black pepper and beef cubes stir-fry, but noticeably coarser. The meat was a bit tough and dry, the sauce didn't coat it well, and it wasn't very flavorful. Chaufa Mixto: Chaufa = chaofan 炒飯 (fried rice in Chinese) A very straightforward transliteration. Similar to Chinese fried rice, it had plenty of wok hei 鑊氣 (wok aroma), which is rare in the US. The beef and chicken were quite tender; however, the shrimp wasn't fully cooked, and you could clearly taste the raw texture inside. Vegetales Salteados: Seasoned exactly like Lomo Saltados, it's even stranger to use it for stir-frying vegetables... It was entirely for the vegetables' benefit; otherwise, it was completely unnecessary. Suspiro: Dulce de leche custard, meringue, and passion fruit glaze, sprinkled with cinnamon powder--it was far too sweet.

Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.

What made the situation even more concerning was that the beef did not seem fresh.
