Yuca (the inside is white, hard, and undercooked)
    Boris W.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the hard/white-ish/undercooked yuca, I would have given this place a 5-star. I ordered the half chicken (dark meat) with rice and yuca, through DoorDash. From the minute the order was picked up and delivered to me, the process took 30 minutes. I don't think yuca becomes hardened to the point of being unchewable and ghastly in that short amount of time. The chicken and fire were fire. The sauces, medium spice, were on-point. This place is definitely satisfied me with their chicken and rice! But back to the yuca and the rating drop. The yuca was horrendous. 80-90% of the yuca's inside were hard. I chewed into the yucas and just felt like my soul was leaving my body. Take a look at the photos and you'll see that I did not exaggerate. I will go back for a second try. My next (updated) review will reflect my final view of this establishment.

1/4 White Meat Chicken with Plantains and Rice

Review for delivery only. There are several Peruvian chicken places in the area and most are mediocre to pretty good. Super Pollo is probably the best I've had of all of them. I had to 1/4 chicken white meat and it was a lots of perfectly spiced chicken that was fully cooked without being dried out. It was so perfect on its own I didn't need to use any sauce. The plantains were just right, sweet without being too sweet and they were hot and fresh without being dried out. The rice was enjoyable as well, hot and fresh with a few vegetables for some extra flavor. They don't skimp on the food here and even though I was hungry after a day of yard work, I still barely finished my meal. Delivery was fast and my food came hot and fresh. This place is at the top of my list for Peruvian chicken.

This chicken is absolutely amazing and so flavorful. The sides are also really good, especially the rice and the plantains. Service is excellent and food comes out fast. The restaurant is super clean with ample seating.

Amazing Peruvian Chicken within the BALLSTON Arlington neighborhood. Calling all chicken lovers. Lol Delicious moist chicken that's roasted in the restaurant Peruvian rotisserie (charcoal) with a beautiful spice rub and seasoning. Typically get a whole chicken. Scrumptious!! It comes with two types of sauce: green (hot) and yellow mayo-based (medium). The sauces kick it up a notch. Service is real fast, even for the lunch rush. Hot and fresh chicken. Line moves quick. Ambiance includes outdoor and indoor tables. The sides are on point, as well. Spinach. In addition to plantains. Deeelish!! There are a couple of Super Pollos around VA. This one is awesome. Support this Small Business. Pro Tip: free parking in the back (no need for street parking and meters). It's hidden. Haha

This place is SO GOOD. The yuca fries are perfect and the chicken is super flavorful. Plus it's got a ton of seating so it's a great place to sit with friends.

    Whole Chicken with 2 Sides

I don't know how my fellow omnivores live without access to amazing Peruvian chicken. Super Pollo is reliably good and fast. I usually get a whole chicken with various sides--fried yuca, sweet plantains, black beans, and chickpeas are my favorites. I've tried some other dishes, but the chicken is what I always come back to. And don't forget the alfajores! I love that they sell mini versions, so I can enjoy a little bite-sized cookie treat. Basically, if you like Peruvian chicken, you won't be disappointed here. And the price is good--$40 is enough for a family of four and possibly leftovers. (Or in my case, extra chicken for my dogs.) There is adequate seating inside, but I almost always get my chicken to-go.

    Quarter chicken meal!

Super convenient small business that was near my hotel in Arlington. Was a great place to have a final lunch before we all headed home after a conference. The chicken was outstanding and the choices were pretty good. The sides were behind the counter so you stand and pick things through a glass window like a lot of places around these days. Everyone had smiles on their faces as they served you!

Incredibly delicious and consistently fresh Peruvian food and friendly service with a smile. They have plentiful indoor and outdoor patio seating. They also have a TV in the corner for news and telenovelas. Perfect for a quick to go lunch or sit-down dinner with family. Cash or card only (no phone pay).

The food was delicious and so well made! The half chicken was what we got and it's alot of food so be ready to eat! The rice, plantains, and yuca are so yummy, highly recommend any of those sides. Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.

You can definitely taste some Cantonese influences. Corazón: Very unique. The beef heart was grilled very tender, and the spicy and tangy dipping sauce was refreshing. I've also never had such large kernels of sticky corn before. Lomo Saltado: Similar to Cantonese black pepper and beef cubes stir-fry, but noticeably coarser. The meat was a bit tough and dry, the sauce didn't coat it well, and it wasn't very flavorful. Chaufa Mixto: Chaufa = chaofan 炒飯 (fried rice in Chinese) A very straightforward transliteration. Similar to Chinese fried rice, it had plenty of wok hei 鑊氣 (wok aroma), which is rare in the US. The beef and chicken were quite tender; however, the shrimp wasn't fully cooked, and you could clearly taste the raw texture inside. Vegetales Salteados: Seasoned exactly like Lomo Saltados, it's even stranger to use it for stir-frying vegetables... It was entirely for the vegetables' benefit; otherwise, it was completely unnecessary. Suspiro: Dulce de leche custard, meringue, and passion fruit glaze, sprinkled with cinnamon powder--it was far too sweet.

I wanted to wait and give a review after the first time as I hoped it wasn't one of those, ("the first time it was great! The second time...not so much.), let me reassure you that was not the case with Autentico! On my first visit, I had a seafood selection, and it was so fresh and so good! I was also checking out my buddy's chunks of beef that were part of his meal, and wanted that too! He gave me a chunk and it was so tender, juicy and good, I knew on my next visit, I would have to order some form of their steak! The service was spot on, and food order time to table, was exceptional! My next visit came yesterday, and yes I ordered a steak! It was a late Friday afternoon, and even though they were busy with a few large tables of people, service was still outstanding and the food was even better than the first time! If you have read some of my reviews, by the time I think to take pictures, there's not much left to take a picture of! Also, I know some people just take pictures and not much else, and while something can look really good in a photo, you have to dig into it to unearth what's really good about the dish, and everything I have tried at Autentico, was superb! I ordered the NY Strip with fries and instead of the rice that comes with it, I asked if I could substitute veggies for the rice? They said no problem! While the first time I had a couple bottles of their Corona, which was very cold and was also provided with a frosted glass, this time I asked for a Modelo Especial. I was told they had it on tap! Major points, as I love all of Modelo's products especially the stouts! It was just my buddy from work this time and me, and we had such a great meal and the ambiance was awesome! I had joked my first time visiting there while driving in, that there was an Irish resturant right next to it! I mentioned that we should go there after for a couple pints. We never got around to it, as we were too full both times to make it in. But that resturant is in the back of my mind for a future visit! So if you do go to Autentico, you won't be disappointed. It's a great location that's worth the drive, and an exceptional resturant!

The only downside was the limited and not very clean restrooms during a busy event. First, let's give an applause to their social media team for helping me discover this place. The game day promotions caught my attention, and they absolutely delivered. The decor, atmosphere, and energy were all fantastic. You could tell Inca Social was well prepared, with a fully staffed team that stayed attentive throughout our visit. Whether it was quickly finding us an extra chair or constantly refilling our water, the service was excellent. The food was equally impressive. I highly recommend the lomo saltado, and the pasta served alongside it was surprisingly delicious. The Inca Balls were also a great appetizer with a light, crispy exterior and a savory filling. The drinks were solid as well and rounded out the experience nicely. My only complaint is that there are only two restrooms, and given how busy the restaurant was, they weren't as clean as I would have hoped. Food selection was smaller, food was not worth the price and service was awful. We did not have a reservation but saw several tables open. They sat us near the welcome booth as we were a family of 5. We were given menus but not enough utensils and thought eventually we would get it along with the menus. There seem to be a huddle of employees in the entrance of booth and the waiter did not show up for another 5 minutes. Another 5 minutes passed and a different waitress showed up asking if we were ready. She did not tell us of any specials and we had to ask her the price of the bistec a lo pobre which she said was $26. We also asked her about other items we saw at the online menu but she said they weren't available. We decided to stay and order ceviche, lomo saltado, anticuchos and bistec a lo pobre. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a chicha. There was no physical menu for children and she verbally told us the options. I ordered chicken tenders and fries for my toddler. She took our orders and food came out after 15 minutes. The meat was missing the sauce the menu said it came with, the ceviche tasted very lemony and the chicken tenders were more like chicken balls. The waitress never showed up with our drinks and we decided to just eat and go as the staff seemed to want to socialize more than tend to the customers. Once we were done, we asked for boxes and the check. Apparently, gratuity was already included and maybe thats why the service was so bad? She hardly came to check on us and to top it off she was surprised when we told her drinks never showed up to please take it off check. She didn't apologize or asked how the food was. She gave us boxes and off we left. Later, we realized the bistec a lo pobre was $28 instead of $26 and we had ordered two. I just wanted to leave at that point and not wait another 5 minutes for waitress to fix her mistake. The ad, as shown in picture, said all moms receive a flower but I guess having three kids with me wasn't enough for me to get one. We also noticed when we left their website said a party of 6 or more has gratuity included but we were a party of 5. What is shown online is very different than what you get in person and if the food was great I would gladly go back for at least takeout. Food is not worth it, the service for Mother's Day made it worst and the environment was mediocre at best. Prices were inconsistent and menu is not appealing. Not sure what happened here but changes should be made at least for Mother's Day.
