They usually have Bolivian folklore music playing, which is a nice vibe, but the real star is the food! Some people might say it's not the best, but honestly, after trying other spots, this is hands down one of the best in NOVA. Pro tip: come early in the morning for a fresh salteña. The sopa de maní is super rich and flavorful, and the charque was perfectly crispy and delicious. I figured I'd give this place a try since it's right next door -- big mistake. Every other table got the cute little courtesy bread while waiting for their food, but I guess I didn't make the VIP list. My drink showed up in a Styrofoam cup while everyone else had actual glasses -- classy, right? Then came the $18 "meal": a tough steak, hotdogs, and fries. And if you're thirsty? Food was terrible, ordered pique lo macho the steak chunks were sooo hard, brought to the waitress attention she said she was going to tell the cook and never came back to offer an change in the order or compensate on the bill as I didn't eat the plate. So I paid the bill (no tip) as I was getting into my car the waitress runs out and complains to me about not leaving a tip! (The nerves) I told her she didn't properly handle my situation I wasn't offered any alternative and to talk to her manager as I paid the bill. He then proceeded to ask me where I was from and offended me by saying that's why you are cheap, and cursed me as she walked away. This place is by far the worse place I've ever sat down to eat at. To say it's the best Bolivian food in NOVA is a stretch. I heard about them on Instagram. So I had to see for myself if they are better than Luzmarys or Luzmilas.... and they are not!! So I started off ordering a safe menu item before I ordering a meaty dish. I ordered a saltena (chicken). The filing... meh. Not flavorful. It didn't wow my mouth. The rellano (the stuffing had: chicken wasn't shredded. Large chunks of white meat.and dry!! Most places season their chicken... this Pollo never met sazon or any Goya products. It also had minced potato, and egg. Most places would have olives and raisins. And filled, and served piping hot with juices flowing not here. I ordered their empanadas since it was highly sought after on yelp . Soo waitress messed up and gave me a non spicy one. Though it was good, it was served piping hot... So when she gave me the spicy empanada, that isssh was cold... im like excuse me.. I dont wanna complain but this cold.. She told me it's suppose to be ... nahhhh.. even mi pana was like what type of crap is that. No where ... that makes empanadas are served cold..... To me that tells me that they are lazy. From seeing the dishes, it lack... Trust me I've been to better places.. even my old aunt can whip up something better with her eyes closed than what they was serving here... oh nooo. The menus have no prices and the cost for a basic dinner is about $ 25.00 per person. That is for an entry and a soft drink! Love their cheese empanadas here! Every time I'm in Annandale I make a quick stop to pick some up with a few cuñapes as well. I also tried their spicy version which was good. I had their salteñas multiple times and generally just not a big fan of them so I stick to empanadas. The breading itself taste almost like cornbread so it's bit on the sweeter side but not overly sweet. Love the chewy ness of the cheese inside. I haven't tried their actual food items which I plan on doing soon but definitely will continue to pick up the cheese empanadas when able. read more

I ordered pique macho and as I am almost halfway into my plate I noticed there was a dead fly at the bottom of my food and I know it was from them because I used the original to go plate they give you to eat. La Cochabambina Restaurant is a Bolivian restaurant that is located in a little plaza in Annandale. They also have a food truck that runs around the Falls Church (6528 Arlington Blvd) area that is pretty popular on the weekends. The menu (that is 100% in Spanish) offers daily specials (pique macho, silpancho, pacumutu, filete de pescado, and milanesa de carne), sopas, and specialty entrees (chicarrones, charque, escabeche, enrollado, etc.). I tried their Pique platter, which came with huge fried potato wedges, sliced hot dogs (salchichas), and cubed steak. There really isn't a sauce mixed within this dish - it is literally 3 different items, 'mixed,' and placed on the platter. There's also a side of fresh salad that comes with sliced red onions and green peppers; a little tub of fresh Bolivian coriander (quillquiña) sauce that you can dip your meats into - I think I just expected there to be more seasoning or some usage of spices; however, I'm thinking it's just very simple, homecooked fare. I also tried a cup of cold mocochinchi, a Bolivian drink, which is made out of dried and peeled peaches; they're left in the water overnight, then boiled with cinnamon and sugar - it literally tasted like Korean soojunggwa (persimmon/cinnamon/ginger drink). I would like to definitely check out their other entrees, especially the chicharrones. Plenty of seating within; when you walk in, you can grab a table or order up at the front for a carry-out. Just keep in mind that you do need to be somewhat fluent in Spanish! I have only carried out food from here and honestly have only ordered 2 items from the menu. My go-to orders are the chicharron and escabeche. Both items are very tasty. The chicharron (fried pork) is soft yet had a crisp and is well seasoned. The escabeche (pickled pork feet) is a fave. I just wish they would put more vinegar in the dish. read more

I've only tried their beef and chicken salteñas. They were great! Very flavorful, and not too sweet. We only took them to get though. We happened to try it because it was near Ocha Tea. We've tried some at Luzmila's in Falls Church, but Luzmila's are extremely sweet. I'll surely try some other foods, even if they're in spanish. read more
