Su Pollo serves exceptional Peruvian chicken, perfectly seasoned and juicy. The vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff enhance the experience. Their tangy sauces and hearty sides, like yuca fries, are delightful. Highly recommend for a flavorful meal!

This seems like a mom and pop type of place when you walk inside. The place was dated, and the staff was busy cooking and serving. They have a good menu displayed with many food items to choose from. I ordered the whole chicken with rice and beans and plantains and salad for a family of four. The chicken was perfectly cooked, you could taste the wood fire it was cooked over and rice and beans went perfect with the chicken. This place is worth spending money on if you crave south Latino food!!!! I am a fan and will be back again to try more of their food listed on the menu and get more of their chicken.

If you know you know - otherwise let me tell you. Su Pollo is my top destination for Peruvian chicken in northern Virginia. Their food is fresh, flavorful, and quick service gets guests their plates very quickly. The high heat of the charcoal cooking style along with attentive traditional seasoning leads to a bold chicken flavor present throughout the skin and meat. A no frills, simple ambiance invites you to get right to business and enjoying your food. A pro tip when ordering chicken dishes is you can sub salad for other offered sides at no charge.

I've passed this spot many times and always think I need to give it a try. I'm a sucker for good Peruvian chicken. Don't know what it is, but when it's done right and the sides are equally tasty it just makes for a great food experience. Su Pollo nailed this one. I ordered the quarter chicken white meat with a side of rice and beans. It comes with a side salad, which this was the only thing that was slightly underwhelming. I know not to expect much from the little side salad, so wasn't a big deal for me. After all, the star of the meal needs to be the chicken. In addition to the chicken, I ordered a small chicken soup. This meal did not disappoint at all. The chicken was perfectly seasoned with all the yummy Peruvian spices (whatever those might be). Lol. The white meat was nice and juicy, which white meat can be dry sometimes. I'm tempted to try the dark meat next time. I bet that's amazing too. The side of rice and beans (yellow rice/black beans) paired perfectly with the chicken. My one warning...the green sauce is SPICY!! I only eat the green sauce with my chicken, and have had a wide variety of green sauces. If the green sauce isn't good, it takes away from the experience. This green sauce was on point. Just had to use it sparingly. I recently got into the chicken soup. I've ordered it from other Peruvian restaurants and have some really good ones. Su Pollo nailed this one as well. If you haven't tried the chicken soup it is a must try. It's perfect on a cold day. The soup is filled with chunks of chicken in a savory broth. Squeeze a little lime and add some green sauce and you have yourself a delicious soup. My only gripe with Su Pollo is the location. It was a little tricky to get into their parking lot and the parking is limited. However this won't keep me from returning for more delicious food!!

What's not to like. Its not fancy but it is fast, great price, very clean and the food was so good. I've not had Peruvian before today but Im a fan of their charcoal chicken. The green chili sauce was super. Just the right amount of spice. Yellow rice was excellent as well. If you're in the area I highly recommend going here.

Me and two friends tried out Su Pollo for dinner. You order at the counter and pick up the food when they call your number. I had the combination meal which included 1/4 chicken, half pound of tri-tip, small salad, and yuca frita. The chicken and steak were fairly good with Peruvian spices but the yuca was a little dry and not the best. The dining area was really beat up with many of the booths broken and when we were there none of the tables were clean so I had to clean our table and area myself before we sat down. So not impressed with how clean the restaurant was and dining area was really in poor shape so almost gave the restaurant two stars but the food was good.

The food here is delicious, everything you want from a Latino restaurant, that home cooked meal feeling. The service process: You first order at the cashier and then you are given a number and you wait at your table, the ambiance is not great but they have a TV to watch games and nice Peruvian paintings. There's no table service so anything extra you want you have to stand and redo the process... I recommend this for your lunch time as food was ready quick and delicious, lots of spices.

DELICIOUS!! Incredible lomo saltado, ceviche, arroz chaufa, and chicken salad. The choclo y queso (corn with cheese) is a great started. Everything is shareable and portions are very large.

I ordered the family special for $40, the chicken was so small, even Costco's rotisserie chickens are bigger. Sides were small too.

They have good drink options which was nice for a group which all had different tastes. We started with appetizers, including the chicken empanadas, the tuna tacos, and ceviche sampler. The chicken empanadas were good, if not particularly memorable. But had a nice crunch on the shell and the inside had a nice savory flavor and not dry. The tuna tacos, which didn't have the most appetizing color, was also tasty. The tuna was tender and balanced well with the crispy shell. The ceviche sampler was also delicious, each one having a different flavor profile. I liked the tigre de leche the best in terms of the acidity and brightness. I just wish the ceviche had some kind of vessel to eat it with. One of the ceviche had plantain chips which was nice but I wanted more. Without it, the texture is just one note. For the main dishes, we got the lomo saltado and the aji de gallina which are two, iconic Peruvian dishes. Both were just meh. The aji was the better of the two. The sauce was flavored well with the creaminess of the sauce not overwhelming the garlic and tumeric flavors. But the rice was SUPER dry, almost crunchy. The lomo saltado was even worse. The beef was overly cooked, some pieces were very sinewy and chewy. It was also overly salty and the veggie to meat ratio heavily favored the veggies and made the dish feel cheap. Overall, it was fine but given the options for Peruvian in DC, not sure this deserves 4 stars+.

Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.

I didn't think I would like them as much. The yuca was pretty good too. Nice and crispy. I do wish they had slightly more options for sides, maybe even an Arroz Chaufa. This is a no frills kinda place so don't expect anything too fancy. But it is clean! And that's what makes it more authentic and fun in my opinion! Will definitely go back if I'm in the area.

We're writing this in hopes of the service improving because we still love the food and location. Staff is very nice once you get their attention but we've had multiple trips of sitting for over 30 minutes with servers passing by and us attempting to make eye contact or flag a server down to get an order taken. The second to last time during a week day around 6 we went and it took about 30 minutes for us to even be able to put an order in after the server brought us waters then he dropped the food off without utensils or sauces. This past time on a Friday early evening we waited at an outdoor table for about 30-40 minutes and the server would look at us, help the table he was already working with next to us and disappear. We finally went to the kiosk and just put the order in through there for the dine in family meal but they did not give any utensils or plates with the food. We heard the server tell the table next to us they were out of glasses so we figured we would just do bottled water. We recommend maybe scannable QR codes you can order through at the outdoor tables instead of waiting for the servers to come over. Two tables in front of us had the same issue with flagging the servers passing by. We should mention that the staff to include kitchen and servers always do look incredibly busy so it's not that anyone is just standing there but potentially more servers/ runners need to be hired.
