First order out after our move and with so many Peruvian chicken places around we have this a shot. My wife ordered the lomo saltado and I did 1/2 chicken with yucca fries and rice & beans. The lomo saltado was good. Saucy, a bit of flavor from maybe fresh cilantro, decent beef, and I think the white rice was seasoned slightly (might have just been salt, but like the right amount.) The chicken had a nice, subtle smokiness to it. Now I know for delivery you're not going to keep a crispy skin, but it was hot from the grill. Yucca fries were a good size. Yucca isn't that flavorful, but they were great dipped in the green sauce (a little spicy). Rice & beans were fine. I tried Inca Chicken in Alexandria and was really impressed. I got the half charcoal roasted chicken with fried plantains, beans and rice, plus extra sauce. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor, and the sauces were excellent. The yellow one is creamy and smooth, almost like a ranch, and the green one has a little spice. When you mix them together, it just works perfectly. My wife ordered the fried rice and it was so flavorful and satisfying. We also had the horchata, which was rich with cinnamon and vanilla, and she really enjoyed it. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything tasted fresh. They are both across the street but Emma has higher reviews so I decided what the heck, let me support the one that has 3 stars and give it a try! Chicken - great flavor/what you would expect. I ordered the half chicken. Wasn't extremely juicy or too dry. Sides- got the side of salad and yuca. Salad is a rip off, just cabbage with shredded carrot. Order another side instead. I have come here several times for takeout. The food is good. The wait is ALWAYS long. If you order ahead of time, they'll say your food will be ready in 15 minutes. I've come 30-50 minutes later and end up still waiting for my food. I have lost part or all of my work lunch break because of it. I didn't give up on this place the first time because I wanted to give it a few chances. If you have time to kill then come here because the food is great but if you want food to be done quickly for pickup, you're taking a chance. I highly recommend Kabul Kabob for good food that's ready when they say it will be ready. If this place was realistic about the wait time, then I would avoid going hungry and missing my entire lunch break even though I assumed I planned it out correctly. Bummer. read more

Very good tasty rotisserie chicken. The sauces are the best of any place for some reason the spicy green sauce is just better than other places(just the right spice not overwhelming). The only thing I wish they changed is the styrofoam packing in to go orders as that's what I usually get. It makes the bread on sub and fries soggy. Other than that it's a 5 star in my book. I have been driving by this place for a while and I decided to try it. They were running a special for 9.99 chicken and fried rice. I asked for that special plus plantains. The take out order came to $19.86, which sounded ok to me. I got my food to go and although it felt a little light, I was in a hurry and unfortunately did not open the container to verify my food before I left the premises or verify the items charged on the receipt. When I got home, there were no plantains as ordered, and my receipt only showed one item (chaufa pollo). I feel that I was conned by being charged almost double for small chicken fried rice. One of the best Peruvian style chicken restaurants in the DMV. They served large plump pieces of moist and flavorful rotisserie chicken. The accompanying yellow and green dipping sauces added another layer of creamy and mild spicy goodness. The rice and beans side could have been boring but they also had subtle hints of smokiness and chicken broth. The chicken soup, even on a summer day, was pure deliciousness: potatoes, peas, beans, rice all in a light fresh broth. And we cooled off with real (not pre-prepared) horchata with generous amounts of cinnamon and maranon juice that tasted like a crisp apple and pear combo! This review is not just about the food, but also how to treat a customer. If you take care of your customers, all else will fall into place. Just look at my other reviews, like of Garaffa's in Fredericskburg, or Virginia BBQ in Manassas (which I heard just closed). You don't have to have the best food to get a great review. The food itself is a solid 3/5. I got myself for lunch a 1/2 chicken with two sides. I chose plaintains and beans. The chicken is just okay, but the plaintains were really sweet (I think they cook these in honey and caramel) and the beans had nice flavor. I also got a Tamarind drink (a change from my usual Horchata). It was really good. The total came out to $13, which is about normal for what I would get at other places. I would try another food item from them again, like a steak and eggs or a Carne asada, just to see if maybe they do other things better. But once again this review isn't about the food, it is how you treat a customer. When I got there I noticed nobody was there, despite it being 11:30 am and at the start of the lunch rush. Well, there was no rush to get me out. The cashier behind the counter was friendly, cute, and knew both Spanish and English. As I do the same (well, not fluently in the former), I tried ordering in Spanish. She smiled and was really flattered that I would try such a thing. Rule #1 in ethnic restaurants, attempt to speak some of the language that is the background of the restaurant. You'll not only be treated better, but also have a better experience. It was out of this experience that I also got the mother of the cashier to come out (she must have heard me), and since I was undecided about my drink, she allowed me to try all the specialty drinks in a small cup (she also rinsed it out too when I was finished with each one). That's how I got the Tamarind. Without what she did, I probably would have taken a chance on the Horchata, but this opportunity was not to be lost. She took full advantage. That's great customer service. She also asked how I knew a good deal of Spanish (I studied Spanish in school, and I mentioned that). They proceeded to talk to me in Spanish a little, and it helped make me feel like even though I was struggling to keep up, they made me valued. There's nothing wrong with trying. The idea that people will laugh at you for not trying is a myth. They want you to try. It shows you're not an "Ugly American" and are embracing of other cultures and ideals. That is also how you get customers like me to come back and try more food from this establishment, even if the food is just okay. read more

Chicken Pollo Restaurant is family-owned and operated and they now have two locations (the original spot is out in Annandale). Their menu offers a selection in Peruvian chicken (1/4 chicken, 1/2 chicken, whole chicken), chicken soup, lomo saltado, anticucho, ceviche, fried rice, and sides (rice, beans, yuca, plantains, fries, tortilla, corn with cheese, etc.). We saw that this place opened up a few months ago, so we decided to stop by for a later lunch. We shared a 1/2 chicken that came with 2 sides (you have a choice between the rice or the salad, and the yucca or the french fries; we opted for the rice and the french fries). The chicken itself was roasted and had the typical seasoning - it was definitely moist, but I just wished the skin was a bit more crispier and the meat a bit more flavorful. The french fries were cooked in old oil, so it had an off taste to them, like chicken tenders of some sort :( The rice was just steamed white rice, but it seemed as if it had a slight garlic hint to it. The servings of aji sauce, even for 1/2 of a chicken, was quite stingy, and we had to request a couple more. It was very thin and watered down, and more mustard-based; however, it was fine with the chicken. The chicken and the sides seem consistent in taste as their Annandale counterpart, and overall, the food was just okay. Staff were friendly, and once you order up at the cashier, they bring out the food for you if you dine-in. I have gone to their first location located on Little River Turnpike a handful of times and that one is quite busy and parking isn't that great that you need to pick a ticket in order to first place your order. However, this location is so new that you can just walk in and order directly from the cashier. I came here after working out, so I was starving. I went ahead and ordered a quarter white chicken with a side salad and plantains. The chicken was nice and juicy and the plantains where amazing. My friend got a quarter white with rice and plantains. I would definitely come back after working out as I feel this is probably one of the healthiest meals in the area. I believe they have other things to order on the menu such a steak etc. but I'll have to do that next time. Great location, ample parking, and not as crowded. Woohoo! read more

Just another chicken spot. Don't bother going out of your way to try it if you already know of another halfway decent Peruvian restaurant (I can't wait for Edy's Chicken to open back up). The chicken was over seasoned but okay. The yuca was dark and dried out. They are very cheap with their sauces and only give a single cup of green and yellow sauce that lasts for about half the container. In addition to everything being generally overpriced the staff seem unhappy and the atmosphere is dead. The place is clean though. Overall, not high quality Peruvian food and if your making up your mind about where to go, check out a few other places in the area. I wish I had just gone to Chipotle or Cava for lunch. read more

New owner I believe went from" chicken pollo" to "inca chicken". Ordered a half chicken today. It was way too salty super moist almost like if they boiled the chicken and they put it to roast. Inside it was uncooked therefore I threw it away, I dont want to deal with food poisoning. The fries, some are soft and some are hard as if they were from yesterday. The salad was fresh but whoever made the mayonnaise added either too much lemon or vinegar. Though I don't live in Virginia I frequent this side of town a lot to do my grocery shopping at the international supermarkets. I've eaten from Inca quite a few times and each time the food has been delicious. The prices a very reasonable and the staff are always friendly. Though I haven't been there in a while, I would highly recommend if you're craving Peruvian food and are in the area you should absolutely check them out. Dare I say they might be better than Sardis?! I'm not sure if I could even compare the two but this food is delicious and very filling. The service is usually pretty quick but it can be packed on a Friday evening. read more
