Jardin Del Rey has been a staple in Leander forever. Stoopid me for driving by this restaurant for…read moreover 10 years. There is no curb appeal, no fancy signs, and a dirt parking lot. But the parking lot is always packed, so we decided to stop in on a hot Sunday afternoon. We immediately noticed that most of the folks dining were regulars who knew the servers by name. Jardin is Tex Mex/Mex to the Max! Their Pechuga Gratinada a la Parrilla Platter with grilled chicken breast topped with melted Monterey Jack cheese, sauteed mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers was served moist with a tad bit of heat. My Chile-Relleno Poblano pepper stuffed with chicken arrived with a healthy amount of cheese and ranchero sauce, and served with guacamole, pico de gallo, rice, and refried beans. One nit, their tortillas are store-bought, according to Plus 1. They do have a full bar, and we both found that their Margaritas were a tad too sweet for us. Big kudos for offering me a gratis Father's Day tequila shot for my dessert! No, I was not driving.... Regardless of the nit, Jardin Del Rey goes right into our dining rotation.

The beef and cheese crunchy tacos were very good. The beef was seasoned very nicely and they provided a generous amount of cheese as requested. The taco salad with grilled chicken was OK. The chicken was seasoned and cut nice and thin. It was very enjoyable. That said, the salad was generic. It clearly came out of a bag and was wet. Also, it was served on a plate instead of a taco bowl as advertised. Finally, the Leander margarita was still as fabulous as it was at my last visit.

Not just another steak burrito, but one made "Baja Style", with Ranchero meat or similar. We've found something that comes close at Aparicio's. It's not your ordinary menu choices of ground beef, pork and chicken. First of all, customers waiting in line were raving to their friends on how amazing the food is. The quality, the service and the portion sizes. Taco prices are a bit higher than your average taco stand, but this is not a "hole in the wall" dive joint. The owners have made your experience here unique in the decor, yet the food served on homemade tortillas lets you know you're being blessed in the kitchen, by someone who cares. When we arrived we told them this was our first time. The host spoke to someone, and out from the kitchen comes a sample tray with five cups of food to sample. Carne Asada, chicken, pastor, chorizo and Pableno Pepper sauce. We ordered the Cali Burritto. A Carne Asada burrito with fries, pico, and other fixings. It was huge, even after cut in half. I opted for two tacos, pastor which came with a slice of grilled pineapple and Chorizo. Both served on hand made flour tortillas and they were great. We also got an order of cheese fries. A small bowl of McDonald's size fries with shredded cheese and a light cheese sauce melted on top. It was great, paired with a homemade jalapeño ranch sauce. Finished with a fresh strawberry horchata drink in a large mason jar and a mango melon drink. 6:50 each, yet well worth the cost. So if you're looking for something other than Tex-Mex fusion Mexican food, or if you're missing tasting real authentic Mexican food without having to drive to San Antonio, then drive on over to Leander. Once you pull into the lot, right of Smoky MO's just behind the jewelry shop. Enjoy! Michael C. - Georgetown, Tx.

I never went as the exterior is pretty unassuming but it was surprisingly warm on the inside! I actually ended up going two days in a row as the food was so good. One thing I immediately noticed is the free chips are made fresh- they came out with piping hot with some salsa. On the first day i got a pastor torta cubana (pretty rare in cedar park/leander) and it was stacked! It was loaded with all the toppings, they did not skimp. Nice to have a place with tortas nearby. I came back the next day and I tried their seafood. I got shrimp ceviche, which came with tostadas and toppings (limes/avocado/mayo). It was light and delicious. As id skipped breakfast it also got a breakfast taco...it was HUGE! Mexican scrambled eggs and cheese. And super reasonably priced. We got queso as well and it was fine. Ive had better but it was decent. The waitresses were amazing and super attentive. Before leaving we asked for a refill for example and they put our drinks in large Togo cups without us asking. Recommended! The chips alone made me want to come back over and over again.
