I had been craving some birria recently, so I ordered a set of their birria tacos and then an order of plantains to go with it. The service was pretty efficient, and it wasn't long before the food came out hot. The plantains were fantastic. There was so much that I couldn't finish them myself, but they tasted pretty amazing. I recently discovered how fantastic plantains were, and Taqueria Jaguar's fried plantains were top notch. I highly recommend them. When it came to the birria, however, I was left disappointed. I fear maybe it was the experimental nature of my order instead of going for some al pastor tacos, but I felt the meat was not great. It was cooked well, but it had no flavor. I could best compare it to when my grandma made me chili and told me it was amazing, when I had to put so much cheese on it to hide its lack of flavor. I don't know if it was from the goat meat versus your typical beef you'd get elsewhere on the menu, but I was shockingly disappointed in how weak they were. I didn't finish them, sadly. I hope to return and give Taqueria Jaguar's a second chance. If people praise this food truck like they do, I think I might just be wrong. Until then, it is not my trusted taco joint.
