Finally made it to San Diego Sunshine yesterday during Taste of Ramona. Wow...what a great find! I hope "The Taste" brought them a lot of new other customers as well. I don't drink very much, so what I do drink needs to count. San Diego Sunshine delivered! The watermelon cocktail was sooooooooo yummy. We had a very generous sample, and it went down so smoothly. It was the perfect size for me and I savored every sip. The staff are so friendly, the environment is really cool, and it seems like a super cool place to just hang out. What an amazing hidden gem in Ramona! I am continually impressed by the burgeoning drink scene out here, with a vibrant wine region & now a distillery! I passed a sign that said "Local whiskey 432 Maple" and was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. I really enjoyed the Rye! Aging that in wine barrels made it an incredibly approachable & drinkable (young) rye. The other infusions would be great for bringing a family in for a tasting, as are the mixed drinks. Highly recommend you pop in next time you visit Ramona! Plus--its a craft made and unique still fabricated by the owner himself. It's stunning to see. read more

Basically a hidden gem! Great service with the perfect atmosphere. Undeniably the best part of my trip and regretting that I didn't find this establishment earlier. Basically all the distilled spirits are on point. They have a membership that truly will wet your whistle! But as a basic visitor I must say glad I came here. Try anything they have and you will more then likely walk out with a bottle in hand. The rye whiskey is very different but subtle without that normal spicy kick. The vodka is slightly sweeter due to the corn. The blueberry honey and apple pie whiskey are unique in the style its made. But overall the Brandy was my go to, aged 5 years distilled with grapes in an oak barrel was my favorite. Don't be shy just walk in and you will be sure to enjoy! read more

I have never had a better wiskey sour. This place is so great. The drinks are amazing and the whiskey and vodka are on point. The lemon drop is the best lemon drop I've ever had. We are members because we are guaranteed to buy more than one bottle a month. It is so much more laid back than any bar in the tasting room. Good times with good people. read more

Great little find! The whiskey is smooth and the owners are very knowledgeable! They make up custom drinks to go with their spirits. Love the Penicillin and the Horses neck. Or just a good whiskey and Diet Coke. Ask about their membership! You get a free bottle of their whiskey every month. Some months they have special spirits like Lemon cello or peppermint vodka. Tonight was our first visit and we met some great local people. We were welcomed the second we opened the door. We started with a taster flight then ordered the blueberry Mojito and old fashioned-both kicked ass. The warehouse was nicely built out and clean and comfortable. I would give 10 stars if I could! A few weeks ago I saw an unassuming metal sign tacked to an electric pole while sitting in traffic. The word Moonshine intrigued me enough to google "moonshine in Ramona" because I couldn't actually read anything else on the sign. It brought me to Yelp and Hubby and I checked out San Diego Sunshine that same night. I'd never had Whiskey before - in my entire life. Amber eased me into it suggesting a few of the sweeter cocktails. By the end of the night I discovered why Sunshine has 5 stars on Yelp and why Whiskey is so popular. YUM! Not only were the drinks delicious (especially the Baja Del Sol which I stole sips of when my Husband wasn't looking) but Amber was so friendly and helpful. We had such a wonderful experience that we decided we'd go back the next week. The following week we met the owners Paul and Amanda. Both just as nice and helpful as Amber. I opted for the Baja Del Sol having liked it so much last time. We talked to Amanda about Halloween and the Whiskey making process. She made us feel so welcome - like old friends. All week I looked forward to Thursday so we could go back again. (Which we did, last night) I can not say enough about the Whiskey, Paul, Amanda and Amber, the ambiance and even the patrons. My favorite place to go and unwind! With all of the wineries and breweries popping up you wouldn't think a distillery would make a name for itself but you'd be wrong! Tucked away in Ramona's "industrial" area, San Diego Sunshine's tasting room has a rustic-homey feel. Paul and Amanda are the owner's and you will often find them there, Amanda running the tasting room and Paul busy creating their high-quality, smooth and delicious spirits. The rye whiskey is their mainstay, but they also do a blueberry whiskey and Paul does a vodka now and of course the limoncello around spring and the apple pie moonshine for the holidays! All of their mixed cocktails are outstanding! I enjoy being a regular and seeing other locals but visitors are most welcome so if you're just passing through Ramona you should definitely check it out! read more

Oh my goodness something different. Did the wineries and have been to the crowded breweries but this was delicious! If you go you have to try the Endless Summer cocktail. This is a distillery and they make delicious whisky. So delicious and such unique artistic flavors. If you catch them on a weekend they have food as well but it's super chill, low key. You need to say hi to Amanda, Amber and Paul. Paul and Amanda are the owners and are so sweet and love what they do! Take the trek up the hill. The brandy is good, the honey wheat spirits are fabulous. They serve a number of really wonderful cocktails. The staff is friendly and the bar is bright, comfortable, and spotless. Be careful, there's no food nearby and it would be easy to overindulge, but you can take very reasonably priced bottles home with you.
