They had tastings for local wines, all out of the surrounding vicinity, including San Diego. We just had to do the chocolate pairing as well, and the chocolate is also out of Carlsbad and had so many amazing unique flavors. My favorite being the one with the potato chips. Though I still feel the southern California wines aren't as good as the northern California wines, I'm glad that it's becoming more and more common and I do have to admit that it's improved greatly over the last 10 years. The person who was at the counter of Julian wine and chocolates was super friendly and knowledgeable. The little shop was very inviting and the tasting prices were very reasonable. She went over the tasting and shared with us information about the Brandy they also make onsite. We enjoyed all of the wines and really enjoyed the Brandy's as well. After the tasting my husband had a glass and we sat on the deck just taking in the beautiful views and wonderful weather. As we were getting ready to depart we knew one of those bottles of Brandy needed to go home with us , but very difficult to choose when everything we tasted was very good. You can do a tasting which I believe is three samples. Or if you just wanted a glass that's also offered but we opted for a bottle. Snacks are also available for purchase if you would a charcuterie boards to accompany your tasting. It's very pet friendly as there were so many pups around. They too like to enjoy the party. We chose to share the tasting (full disclosure, I did much of the tasting) and we went down their list of white and reds. She greeted us with a complimentary pour of their 2024 Walt Rosé of Pinot Noir before delving into our wine background, experience, and explaining the various flights. She took the time to get to know us and made excellent recommendations. My wife and I shared the L'Amour de Blancs flight ($29), the Elegant Expressions flight ($59), and the Taste of Terroir flight ($99). Each flight consisted of three generous pours, and as we went through, Vanessa even poured a few extra Pinot Noirs she knew we'd enjoy. The wines are extremely well-made and quite elegant, offering a good balance of acidity, tannins, and flavors. Along with the wines, we also tried several items off their Savory Bites menu: Marinated Olives & Nuts ($10), Soppressata Croquettes ($15), Wild Mushroom Pâté & Black Truffle ($18), and the Duck Confit Crostini ($18).
