Principe di Tricase Winery is named after the family's village in Italy. Our host's Italian accent was a nice touch as he described each wine we tasted. It's a very laidback, super relaxing winery that is in definite contrast to a few of the bigger more boisterous places in the area. Ron and Kelly are warm and welcoming, and very knowledgeable about wine. Their property has lots of tables and chairs outside with a decent amount of shade, which for me is a must, because my Irish skin cannot tolerate the San Diego sun. They are also very dog friendly, and usually have their own dog, Jade, acting a "greeter" when you arrive. How is the wine? Very well-thought out. I've never had less than an excellent glass of their wine every time we visit. My husband and I never leave without at least one bottle every time we visit. They are definitely worth the long and windy drive to find them.

Their wines are not as heavy as I feel like reds can be which was refreshing. Overall, some quality red wine! It's essentially a tasting room for a small vineyard that's in either Ramona or Temecula (can't recall exactly at the moment), but they do serve coffee drinks earlier in the day. I tried both the cold brew and the hot matcha latte. The cold brew was really good--smooth, balanced, discernible flavor profile, and depth. The matcha was pretty good too, not necessarily the best I've ever had but certainly something that would scratch any matcha drinker's itch. The setting is really beautiful. The seating, open-air feel, plant-life, and overall vibes are very tasting-room-esque but also just benefit from being in an off-the-beaten-path community. The woman working yesterday named Autumn was very nice and friendly, and I had a good chat with her. I'll try to make it back for some of the wine at some point! Definitely recommend trying it out for the espresso drinks, cold, brew, and matcha variations in the meantime!

Pamo Valley Winery Tasting Room was so highly rated, we had to find out why. When we first parked by the winery's patio around 4pm, it was pretty empty. We walked in through the back door and saw just Carin, who was at the counter and happened to be there filling in because the rest of the staff was at a wedding together. As a longtime patron, she did a great job sharing about her love of the winery, how it's the first woman-owned winery in San Diego County, and why she can be found there often, including free pizza Wednesdays (with bottle purchase) and the fun wine club parties. The wines are very reasonably priced, and we enjoyed tasting a few each. Another couple of women came in later and sat at the bar, too, and we heard Carin do an equally friendly job of introducing the place to them. By the end of our visit, we had tried several wines each, decided to buy some bottles, and joined the club, with a lot of the credit going to Carin for making us feel so welcome. Fast forward to August, and the pickup party was equally fun with the chance to meet Jennifer, the owner, more staff, and even share in someone's un-birthday cake (Carin was there and had brought a big enough cake to share with everyone in attendance). The band was fun, and there was plenty of seating. My husband and I are enjoying the visits so much that the 45 minute drive doesn't feel long/far anymore. We look forward to supporting Jennifer and bringing more friends with us to enjoy their parties.
