This was my second visit, and the service, atmosphere, and food were all great once again. We came during their happy hour (Monday-Friday from 3pm-6pm), and I have to say they have a really solid selection to choose from at a great price. We ordered the 3 sliders, prawn skewers, and the chicken meatballs -- which are definitely my recommendation. Everything was flavorful and well presented. From the moment we walked in, the bartenders were welcoming and attentive, checking in on us throughout our visit without being overbearing. They're currently in their tequila season, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the presentation and creativity of their drinks. They really know how to catch a customer's attention. I had to try the pickle margarita, and as a pickle fanatic, this did not disappoint. The Cutwater lime margarita mixed with the pickle brine balanced perfectly -- enough pickle flavor to enjoy without overpowering the margarita itself. The only 2 small critiques I have is with the chicken meatballs, but only because they were so good. I wish there had been just a little more of the hot honey sauce because paired with the potato chips, it would've made the combination even more fire. It does have a bit of spice to it, but not in an unbearable way. Also, I put an order of the churro bites from their tequila season menu, and I guess our bartender had forgotten to put the order in--however, they did make it up by offering a can (which was the espresso martini black this was GOOD, another recommendation please go ahead and ask your bartender for the RND espresso black) Other than that, no complaints at all. The food came out in a fair amount of time, especially considering we visited around 3pm on a Thursday. I can't speak for busier rush times, but during our visit everything flowed smoothly. I really wanted to love the tequila tasting experience at Cutwater Spirits because overall we actually had a good time. I took a much-needed night to focus on enjoying myself and the atmosphere did not disappoint. However, the tequila tasting tour itself felt very underwhelming for the price. For a $50 tasting, I expected an actual tasting experience of the Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo categories. Instead, we were given such tiny pours that we were told to split them between tasting the tequila by itself and then again with the fruit/chocolate pairing. It honestly felt ridiculous and nowhere near enough to properly experience each tequila. Our tour guide Zion was nice, but the tasting portion itself felt very cheap for what was paid. The ONLY reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 1 is because Molly and Ciara completely turned the experience around. They were sweet, attentive, accommodating, and genuinely made us feel welcomed. Those beautiful ladies were absolutely the highlight of the visit. I'd definitely come back for the atmosphere and service, but I truly hope Cutwater improves the tequila tasting portions because the current setup does not feel worth $50. read more

If you can't handle a Cutwater then honestly we probably can't be friends. I already love Cutwater canned cocktails so finding out their distillery is actually here in San Diego immediately made me want to go. I came with a group of friends mainly for drinks but the food sounded surprisingly good too so we ended up ordering both. First off this place is BEAUTIFUL. It has that bar vibe but still feels really nice and put together like a restaurant. Parking was rough because it was super busy but while waiting for a table we walked around looking at the merch and canned cocktails they sell there. Even the restroom was nice. Everything just felt really well designed. Right now they're doing a tequila season menu so we started with the Mexican Candy Shot. So good. It comes in this cute little clay cup with chamoy and tajin and honestly was one of my favorite things we tried. I also got the frozen mango margarita and loved it. It comes in a mango margarita Cutwater can with chamoy and tajin on the rim plus one of those chamoy candy straws. Super cute and actually really good too. The biggest surprise though was the arroz con leche drink. Someone else ordered it and I immediately wished I got one too. It literally tastes like arroz con leche but with tequila and somehow works perfectly. The presentation was also gorgeous. For food, the pork bulgogi fries were probably my favorite thing we ate. Huge portion with lots of meat, fries, cheese, and chives underneath that made everything taste even better. The buffalo wings were solid too. The only thing we didn't really love was the Jamaican jerk chicken flatbread. It sounded amazing on the menu but ended up being kind of dry and underwhelming. You could taste the rum barbecue sauce and seasoning but it just needed something more. Overall though this was such a fun spot. Came here for the first time with a group for a bday party. Long and short of it: drinks and setup are easily 5/5. Food and the vibe were a 3/5. Let's start with those drinks. We were a big group and many of us ordered on the regular menu and their specialty menu. Highly recommend their specialty menu! For the time we went it was Latin themed and they had specialty mugs and shot glasses you can take home. Each presentation for every drink was STUNNING. Special shoutouts to the: frozen margarita, la Reina, and fruta un vase. Plenty of people had their food. Wings, flatbreads, fries, burgers. Their fries were the only good ones in my opinion. Many places to sit inside and outside. Lots of TVs as well to watch a game. They also have a store where you can buy merch and alcohol. All in all really well crafted and beautiful interior. Service was fantastic! Shout out to Abby who was our server. She made sure we all had a great time. LOVED how they do reservations. Highly recommend. Parking was super easy as there's a lot they had. You know I had to come back for their tequila season release on Thursday, April 16th, and it was well worth it! They had a live band playing, which made the whole atmosphere even better, and they were offering samples of their Spicy Mango Margarita and one of their tequila cocktails, "La Reina." I tried the churros and they were absolutely amazing--perfectly crispy on the outside and warm, soft, and fluffy on the inside, served with a side of chocolate sauce that made them even better. I also tried the tequila flight, which unfortunately wasn't my favorite in terms of flavor, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. I asked the bartender, Sierra, to surprise me with something refreshing, and she absolutely delivered. It was so good I drank it before I could even take a picture! I also have to give a special shoutout to my favorite bartenders: Haley, Lolo, Ciera, and Savannah. They always make sure the drinks are delicious and that I have a great time at the bar. One of my favorite things is letting them freestyle a custom drink, and every single time they create something I love. The cutwater distillery was not what I expected and in a very unsuspecting area, but it was good and I'll be returning! The service was great and the food was really good too. The potato sourdough bread with coconut one butter really knocked my socks off, and the with the house made buffalo were delicious...a bit disappointing the ranch was not house made too. The pork belly flat bread was also really yummy and fresh. I thought I'd see cutwaters on tap, and lots of exclusive test flavors, but to my dismay we were told that the QR code with the test flavors had not been updated and there was only one available of the ones listed. On a recent visit to San Diego I visited the cut water, spirits distillery. I really liked the industrial decor and the wooden fixtures. Service was knowledgeable and friendly. While here I did indulge in a tasting and tour. Additionally, I also ordered a flatbread and a drink. We were seated in the bar area because reserving a table is suggested as it's always packed. My jerk chicken flatbread was very delicious, but had way too many pineapples. My drink was very boozy and delicious. Well worth the price. Pricing for both was very reasonable. The tour wasn't very long but held your attention and the samples at the end made it worth it. The tour was less than 25. You get a 15% discount on all of your purchases because you took a tour so take advantage of the gift store. I did not know that cut water made vodka, tequila, and a whole host of other spirits. You learn something new every day! I'd definitely visit again. I'd like to see their dinner menu. read more

Such a fun Friday night spot with friends! The vibe was lively without being overwhelming, and it felt like the perfect place to kick off the weekend. Honestly, every dish we ordered was a hit. The Crispy Fried Brussels were perfectly done, and the Grilled Carrots with the lemon lavender whipped goat cheese were unexpectedly amazing -- like, who knew carrots could steal the show? The cacio e pepe fries disappeared in record time, and the lemon pepper chicken wings had just the right amount of zing. We also loved the Blistered Shishitos, the pear and prosciutto flatbread (sweet + salty perfection), the Thai Salad, and the carrot pesto flatbread. Zero complaints on the food front. While everyone else raved about their cocktails, I went the mocktail route and absolutely loved the Baby Dragon -- super refreshing and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. We came to Cutwater Tasting Room on the last Tuesday in February for their Valentine's Day themed tini martini flight and had the best time. On Tuesdays they do $2 tinis, and we ordered a flight. It came with a red velvet espresso martini, chocolate espresso martini, and a white Russian. All of them were decorated super cute and very on theme. My favorite by far was the red velvet... SO good. I honestly wish I would've just ordered a full size one. The white Russian was also really good and tasted like their canned version (which I love). The chocolate espresso martini was a little strong for my personal taste, but if you like a bold cocktail you'll probably enjoy it. We also made it in for happy hour (Mon-Fri 2-6pm) and grabbed some appetizers. The artichoke dip with sourdough was hands down my favorite thing we ate loved, loved, loved it. We also tried the shrimp paloma, fries, and asked if they could do a simple pepperoni flatbread even though it wasn't on the menu, and they were super accommodating and happy to make it for us. Huge appreciation for that. Service was great all around, our waitress was really sweet and didn't make us feel weird at all for asking for small changes, and the hostess and food runners were all friendly and attentive. They even offered extra bread for the artichoke dip without us asking, which was a nice touch. This wasn't my first time at Cutwater (I've been here before for their Halloween pirate-themed pop-up), but it was my first time eating on the restaurant side, and it definitely won't be my last. Both time I have been here, the staff is welcoming, the drinks are fun, and the vibe is always a good time. This place has been on my bucket list for a while and am glad we tried it. We stopped by on a Monday so the parking lot wasn't too full, the have about 35 spaces in their lot and then street parking if that is full. It was trivia night right at the end of happy hour. The drinks were good I got the dealers choice for happy hour and it was a very delicious mezcal margarita. We also got the sliders and the wontons both were good nothing to really write home about. The service was pretty stilted. When we first arrived the hostess and another worker were just talking and didn't greet us for about 3-4 minutes. The in-person experience perfectly matched their social media--something I really appreciate. They had a great lineup of holiday cocktails and daily specials. We sat at the bar and had such a fun time chatting with Kaley, our bartender--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely engaging. The crispy green beans from the holiday menu had a light, satisfying crunch, and the Devil's Share burger was the perfect size with perfectly crispy fries. The space itself is festive and well done, and I loved that they also have Cutwater drinks and apparel available for purchase--it adds to the overall experience. I visited this location on a Monday with a group of 4 attempting to join trivia. Would recommend arriving (a lot maybe?) earlier since there were no seats when we arrived right when trivia started. There was also no more parking available in the lot but there's plenty of street parking down the block/around the area. Trivia is online so you could hang around standing while waiting for something to open up, we ended up going to another spot down the street and returning when a table opened up (~1.5 hrs). Food and drinks are pretty reasonably priced at good portions for sharing. The menu was quite extensive and they had fun holiday offerings, leaving our group in decision paralysis. They also have happy hour. Our group ended up getting hot cocoa cocktails that came with lindt chocolates, and a cranberry mocktail (chalet sparkler) that was festively decorated. Wow! What a hidden gem. We were meeting friends to celebrate her birthday and to play cards. I love the indoor outdoor feel and the fireplaces. Such a cool vibe. For a table of 5, we ended up getting the 6 can pack and for most of us, it was our first time trying cut water. Beware the drinks are pretty strong but definitely a good time! I've stopped here many times to pick up packs of my favorite spirits for our hotel stay, every time I visit, it is an automatic stop! I ordered more sourdough bread for dipping the sauce. The drinks were nice and potent! Just 2-3 cans got me right there! The best buzzed ever, so grateful for my designated driver! I'll never forget a Cutwater lol memory with my big kids, we did a "Cutwater" cheers with our own can in the hotel room, it was the last night of our vacation.. & my big kids took a sip and none of them finished the can. I realize the reason, it was too strong for them. I drank them all, didn't want it to go to waste, Good Stuff! Came for a big group gathering this time and it was great. We had called ahead and was able to book a spot at one of the outside fire pits. The whole place was decked out in Halloween decorations which was so fun. They even had mini skulls in the fire pits. We got drinks off the Halloween menu and also ordered some food. I got the corpse diver which they described as the Halloween themed french 75. It was delicious! Black from the charcoal but the actual flavor was very bright and citrusy. For food I got the dumpling salad. Not necessarily anything to write home about but it was a really good size and was filling and tasty. The dumplings were pan seared so they had a nice crust. The lemongrass flavor was prominent as well. Our party got some fries that were a bit! They were perfectly crispy and flavorful. Service was very fast and attentive.
