My go too for Thai food in my home neighborhood of Silverlake and Los Feliz! Excellent and accommodating for some of my dietary request- due to gluten free intolerance from celiac . The Larb salad and sticky rice to the delicious green and red curry's are epic and delicious! The PadThai is also outstanding! Beautiful seafood specialties. I normally take away but it is a very welcoming casual spot for dining in too! read more

We ordered the food for delivery so I can't say anything about the service or the ambiance. The kanom jeeb was nice, although a little oily. There was nothing underneath to soak the grease or serve as a barrier, so it soaked through the container rather easily. The pad se ew was tasty. The khao mun gai tod, the fried chicken part, tasted really great with the dipping sauce. The let down was at the khao mun part. Yes, the menu said it was served with garlic rice, but for some reason, my brain saw the khao mun, and I was still hoping for rice and chicken fat. The rice we got didn't even taste like garlic rice. It tasted like plain white rice. So that added to the disappointment. read more

Yummy meal at Same Same Thai in LA! We ordered the chicken skewers, Pad See Ew, veggies, and shrimp, and everything was delicious. The chicken skewers were flavorful and tender, while the Pad See Ew had the perfect balance of savory flavors and noodles. The veggies and shrimp were fresh and cooked perfectly. Everything was satisfying, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Same Same Thai is definitely a great spot for a delicious Thai meal in LA. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back! read more

Located inside a small plaza (same as LaSorted) so parking can be tough if you come during rush time. I used to live in Chinatown and remember passing by this block of Sunset and I believe this is where Rambutan used to be. The ambiance is atypical of most mom-and-pop Thai restaurants, so the spot is approachable for all sorts of life. Think cool, hipster vibes with a darker lighting. And of course, like all Thai restaurants, you'll get a certain level of hospitality and service. Now, how about the food??? Delicious. Although it's "approachable," food is authentic. All the dishes were delicious and I've been here multiple times and can vouch their consistency. I always get BBQ chicken for the protein. They also have a happy hour menu that I believe runs only for an hour but a glass of wine is $5 and there's a decent selection of dishes priced at happy hour prices. Great place to gather with friends or a more casual date night. Thai food is same same (AKA authentic) but different (more modern hip vibes). Definitely a place to eat and enjoy! read more

The customer service was very slow and unfortunately did not feel professional. The staff took a long time to assist us, and the overall attitude was not very welcoming or polite. I also noticed that the facial expressions and body language of the customer service staff came across as annoyed or uninterested, which made the experience uncomfortable. read more

Great food and good spice! Finally a place that will serve me spicy food the way it's meant to be :) I was pleased to see their menu is well indicated for gluten free and they had many options for me. We shared the moo ping and nam tok appetizers. Both were delicious. I always have to order moo ping when I see it on a menu and they delivered. For main I got the pad ki mao. I have not been able to eat this dish in years because most restaurants don't make it gluten free. It was delicious with the right spice level read more

A mellow spot to grab some Thai food--Same Same offers some classic comfort dishes. The dining room is easy to enjoy, and the food comes out as you would expect it. Service is simple, and in this case no news is good news. If you're in the neighborhood and you want an affordable meal, Same Same is a great option. read more

It's soooo cute inside! I ordered the Kapow with chicken and a side of rice. It was soooo good! I will admit that it was really spicy and I have a pretty high spice tolerance. I even asked the server if there were different spice levels for this dish and he made it clear that there wasn't. So just a heads up if considering it! I do like that they offer a coconut milk Thai tea! read more

Same Same has an excellent menu and excellent service! We were immediately greeted and seated inside this modern Thai restaurant with a bar style set-up! We definitely recommend doing a family style ordering to be able to try more than 1 of their yummy dishes (my favorite being the Kapow Style Cripsy Pork Belly if you like spice)! We will definitely be coming back! read more

I was craving Burmese styled food tonight and I realized that the restaurant I was intending to go to was out of business. So we decided to go next door. This Thai food was actually pretty darn good. They definitely did it right. Not only was the food good, but the ambiance had this intimate, trendy, fun feel to it. The servers were great. And it was just an overall nice experience. Glad to have tried it out tonight! It was definitely a fun silverlake experience here. read more

Can't run away from their Drunken Noodles. We had ordered it with beef and Shrimps, with Crab meat fried rice. It served with chili fish sauce, it was the perfect dinner ever !!!!! Best noodles and Fried Rice in SilverLake read more

The staff were welcoming. The service was not so great. I dined with a few friends and we ordered their pad see ew, pad Thai, and grilled chicken. The flavors for each dish were lacking. There was a human hair on the pad se ew. It look a while for one of the plates to arrive. The restaurant was extremely loud, it was a little difficult to hear each other. We had to lean forward and somewhat shout to converse. I don't see myself returning. read more

This place has been a go-to for us for years. Something changed. The chicken wings are comically small and not spicy at all. No meat. The Tom Yum soup is also bland now. Pad see yu is good with lots of chicken. read more

Love this place! Great happy hour and the drunken noodle is fireeee. Also highly recommend papaya salad and tom kha soup :)

Same Same is one of my favorite neighborhood spots. The food is consistently delicious, the prices feel fair, and the in restaurant vibe is warm and vibey- though I usually get takeout. Highly recommend! read more

We love the vibes, service was on point, and the food was tasty! We ordered the crispy spring rolls, green curry with tofu, sautéed cabbage, and pad se ew with tofu. All the food came to the table quickly and piping hot. The rolls were bigger than I'm used to but so good - filled with cabbage, glass noods, and mushroom. Although the cabbage is a side dish, we ate it as an appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed the wok fired, fish saucy bite. I'm a bit of a light weight when it comes to heat, so I only had a small serving of green curry with rice, but it was VERY GOOD! Not too spicy for those that like heat, but super flavorful. The pad se ew was a little different from what I was expecting with the addition of yellow bean. It was a tad bit salty, but still good. I would order again but with beef. Overall, a pleasant experience...I'll be back with a bigger group to try more dishes (and ones that aren't pescatarian only, lol) read more

I'm so sad! I ordered the BBQ chicken from here and it came to my table ice cold in the middle, the waiter acted like it wasn't a big deal. They warmed it up and brought the same chicken back out that's I had stuck my finger in to show it was cold. I've eaten here multiple times and have enjoyed my experience but the waiter didn't offer another item on the menu or even bring us out a different piece of chicken. My BF ate it so it didn't go to waste but I will not be returning. I did leave a tip but honestly still thinking about how I threw away money on this meal. ): read more

Was in the mood for good thai food, came here on a Frida night. They shoved menus in our face and told us to seat ourselves. At a very unassuming location in a strip mall plaza in Silverlake, this is probably the best Thai food I have had in a long time. It's authentic & family owned. The service was super friendly & our server Brady was very knowledgeable about the menu & with recommendations. We ordered their crispy veggie spring rolls, grilled oyster mushroom naked salad (my favorite) & the Panang curry with tofu & rice on the side. It was so much food & so delicious my mouth is watering writing this review. Will definitely be back soon! read more

Bestie and I came to Same Same a few weeks back and snagged a couple bar stools at the back bar. We ordered all sorts of stuff, beginning with a Singha and a few items from their impressive HH menu. Everything was pretty tasty. We had the chicken satay skewers, sticky rice, chicken wings, fresh spring roll (no tofu), red curry, pad se ew, thai sausage, and the tapioca dessert. The one item I would not order again is the spring roll, everything else was really tasty!! I was really excited about trying Same Same but in all honesty, we have some really great Thai places much closer to home so I don't feel a need to travel this far out for Thai. If you're in the area, solid option for sure! Service was great. Parking in private lot, but limited. read more

Same Same Thai - COCKROACH IN THE RICE ! - Wine Bars Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Average Thai food of the dishes we tried. The grilled squid snack arrived smelling foul. After a few bites I stopped as I felt uncertain of its origin and quality. The beer arrived without a glass nor inquiry if one desired. Pour it in the glass? Who does that as a mark of service? Not here! The veggie spring rolls were average. Many Thai restaurants will, on request, provide a spicier set of 4 condiments including one with Thai chilis in fish sauce. Not this place. Only two condiments, and those of the kind you might have for dim sum. Perhaps owned by ethnic Chinese I don't know. The jade noodles provided mild interest for the ingredients but are inoffensive. The Tom Kha was the best of the lot we tried. Lemongrass forward with delicious smoky red chilis for heat. Good if you live in the neighborhood but not a special trip. We made a special trip. Not coming back. read more

OK, let's get into it!!! I've had a friend who absolutely loved this place, but I never got around to trying because it was "too far" from me. Fast-forward to NOW and I live in the area(-ish) haha, so post-booster and I was not trying to cook and was feeling hella lazy; a sudden craving of Thai food came over me and it led me to Same Same. I definitely got big-eyed because I ordered enough for the worker to ask "how many pairs of utensils" lmao... SIR, JUST ONE OK - I like options! Lol. Anyway, I got the shrimp pad Thai and that was my fav noodle dish out of the two that I ordered. The rice noodles were nice and chewy; it had a bit of a resistance to them, but somehow I really enjoyed that aspect. The chicken pad see ew had a heavenly "soy sauce" and wok fragrant to the dish. It was a bit saltier than I would have liked mine to be, but I enjoyed it. Not as much as the pad Thai, but still good. I didn't get a chance to get the Thai iced tea, but hopefully there is a vegan version some time soon. Last minute decision, I got to the restaurant to pick up my order and I placed a cup of shrimp tom kha. YUM. Tangy and creamy with a hint of spice - just the way I like it! Will I come back? Yeah. Was it greasy? Yeah. Was it worth it? Yeah :) See ya soon, Same Same! read more

Same Same Thai - Mango Sticky Rice - Wine Bars Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Finally came to same same to try their dineLA menu! I've tried a lot of other Thai restaurants in LA but for some reason have never dined here and boy am I glad we did! It's a small restaurant that's part of a strip mall with free parking (limited spaces though) in silver lake and they don't take reservations. My group ended up waiting for about 30-40 mins on a Monday night around 730pm. One of my friends got lucky and had an open parking spot when he arrived. My other friend and I parked on the street with metered parking (but was free since we came after 7pm). There isn't really any space to wait for your table so you'll probably have to wait outside. They have one bench inside. The tables were adequately spaced apart with most tables just enough for parties of 2 so don't come with a large group or expect a long wait. The ambiance is really cute, a little dark. Think candlelit dinner. Really nice for a date spot actually. They also have a bar that you can sit at if you don't want to wait for a table. The dineLa menu comes with a drink along with appetizer entree and dessert. For my drink, I ended up getting a glass of wine since they ran out of the sangria. (You can get a non-alcoholic beverage too if you don't drink). For my appetizer, I got the baked shrimp salad. For my entree, I got the stir-fried crispy pork belly and for dessert, I got the tapioca pudding. My friends ordered the other items on the menu so we were able to try everyone on the dineLa menu. Everything was so good!! The naked shrimp salad is spicy and sour. The fried tofu were so crispy and the sauce for the chicken satay skewers was really good. My favorite was definitely the naked shrimp salad though. It was so packed with flavor. Plus I also love spicy food. All the entrees were really good too! You can't go wrong with either of them. The jungle curry was spicy so do not recommend ordering that if you can't handle spice. If I had to choose, I think I like the Katieam (crispy garlic and black pepper) because it came with a lot of veggies (cabbage). Although the Khao Mu Grob Kapow (Kapow style pork belly) was a close second. The sauce was soo good with the rice! For dessert, definitely go with the tapioca pudding! It was surprisingly good! The flan was alright too but the tapioca pudding is so interesting and unique! It's a warm pudding which I was not expecting. It has a nice faintly sweet coconutty taste from the pandan. The coconut cream on top had a bit of saltiness to it which really brought out the sweetness in the pudding. Overall, such a great meal and I highly recommend. So worth it for the dineLa menu too! We were stuffed by the end of the meal because everything was so good and we wanted to keep eating! read more

SERVICE - located in Silver Lake off of the main road - small shared parking lot in front - does not take reservations so need to put your name on a waitlist once you get there - on a Friday night, our party of 4 waited for about 20 minutes to get a table - only indoor seating available - ambience gives the feel of a wine bar making it a good place for friends or a date but probably not family - limited servers running the bar and the dishes - food served relatively quickly MENU - Traditional thai food - vegan and gluten free marked on menu - average price ($14 per entree) FOOD - crispy spring rolls (5/10): crispy wonton wrapper filled with glass noodles, cabbage, carrot, and mushroom served with sweet plum sauce. On first glance, this comes with a sharp knife eerily placed between the spring rolls so be careful when removing one. The order also comes with 3 rolls which would have been nice to know since we were expecting 4. It was very average with nothing standing out so I would probably not order it again. - green curry with tofu and vegetables (7/10): eggplant, bamboo shoots, bell pepper, broccoli, and fried tofu in a creamy and spicy green curry coconut milk broth. I did not realize that having both tofu and vegetables was $2 extra but it was still reasonable based on the amount of tofu that they gave. The broth was only medium spicy so I added some extra chili paste. It had a strong lemongrass ginger flavor which I appreciated. - red curry with tofu and vegetables (8/10): panang curry broth with fried tofu and mixed vegetables. My friend had ordered this one but decided to swap with me since she liked the green better and I liked this better. It is slightly sweeter than the green curry and also slightly spicier. WOULD I COME BACK? Yes! It's a nice late night spot with friends read more

I dont like writing bad reviews but the green curry was absolutely awful it tasted a bit like vomit - i even called them to ask if they accidentally used off coconut milk but they said they out their coconut milk in the fridge. Very tasty Thai food in a casual modern setting. Good value for the money. We came early on a Friday night and there was a line by the time we left at 8:00. Spicy fried chicken wings were great with the lightest of coatings - almost like crushed Rice Krispies. Chicken drunken noodles were a good proportion of meat, veggies and noodles. Beef panang curry was spicy and good. I liked it better than last week's Jitlada's dinner. read more

More like 3.5 Brought out of town friend, new place to me Service very good Food ok, not bad, not great. Egg rolls hot and crispy, decent.
